I think these tracks work almost seamlessly with the film, but alas John WIlliams can't score for every movie out there. These scenes are melodramatic in the first place and don't need a "laugh." WIlliams is capable of writing just about any genre of music and if you want a comedic score just look up some of his music for the films "1941", "Home Alone," "Indiana Jones" Series, "Hook"....and others.
Very well said - Williams is unmatched when it comes to how many timeless themes he's given us for so many incredible films. While I love Zimmer's score for At World's End, his and his partner Badelt's score for Curse Of The Black Pearl make me wish moreso that Alan Silvestri wasn't kicked off of scoring the first film. It undoubtedly would be amazing and less overly frenetic as the first film's score was.
@MartuchaKapucha Not all the time mate. John Williams' score for 1941 proves that he can also makes us laugh if he wants to. I'm sure John Williams can create a zany theme for Captain Jack Sparrow.
@MartuchaKapucha nah. what about catch me if you can? indiana jones, home alone, superman, e.t.... theyre not melancholic, they fit with the movie, and I'm sure he could've done that with this one as well.
Tear inducing.

The reason why Williams does not score POTC, is that no one wants to make us cry. He's melodramatic but far too little fun. Gimme some laugh, mate!
