  • I love Stirchley it's like going back in time, never changes much but the whole area looks like it needs more than just a lick of paint. What a success the British oak is though. Just shows what a few bob and a lick of paint can do!.

  • Glad to hear the British Oak is doing well. I got it statutory listed in, I think, 1997 so to preserve it forever

  • Had my first pint in there in 1976! , used to work in the sausage factory across the road. You can now get real ale at the oak and some decent grub!.

  • I love Edwardian architecture, we must save this place and Stirchley baths, what a mess that place is!

  • Stichley baths can be saved - we just need the will to do it.

I went inside Stirchley baths in 2004 and the pool area is very intact. Pool needs re-groating and hey-presto you have a pool. And we need a new boiler and filter - cost is about £500,000

  • Is Stirchley baths listed? and is there a concerted effort being made to save it?.

  • brilliant martin. i love a bit of history. now i see that moseley road swimming baths is definately worth saving. i must say, from your accent, i detect an irish twang. let me guess. do you have any tippearary/kilkenny/waterford roots? my mother from galway and my father from donegal.

  • My father is from Enniscrone on the border of Sligo and Mayo. My mom is from the middle of nowhere on the border of Galway and Roscommon.

  • Great bit of irish Brummie accent going on there, you can't beat it. Whats a chimley?????.....LOL.
