@Xfirenova2 There is no mention of a hard drive and this DOES NOT take UMD discs. It takes games that are similar to an SD card, or the types of games that go in a Nintendo DS.
One of the biggest problems with the 3DS isn't just that it makes you dizzy but it can cause damage. Nintendo recommending that small children not play it and whoops, that is a huge market for them. So either parents will heed (and over heed) this warning and it will greatly impact the 3DS sales, or parents will sue for the littlest problems like their kids needing glasses. It al depends on when MSNBC or another news channel does an expose on the product..
@ztaylor82 Like I told the other guy, you don't need to play with the 3D on if you don't want to. The line up of games that have been announced are amazing. Not much has been announced in terms of games for PSP except for Call of Duty..oh boy...
Look at all those features wow...... Oh wait, where is the glasses-free 3D? Aw well, dead on arrival then. Well done 3ds, you've won again, and the race hasn't even started.
@SpaceMonkeeys Why do people call something that's new gimicky? I mean really if you don't like the 3D Nintendo gives you the choice not to play the games with it. We don't know a lot yet about the PSP2 but the 3DS's line up of games is really superb but I'm looking forward to both of these systems. Besides the rear touch pad on the back of the system isn't gimicky? Oh yeah Sony fan boy...i forgot.
@SpaceMonkeeys Oh ok so you want shallow graphics but not a third dimension that opens new possibilities for innovation in game design wide open? Think about what you're saying. I'm just being a realist and have observed (just as game analysts have) that the psp2 is going to bomb in comparition to the 3ds because Nintendo innovate where Sony update. And before you say it, I prefer my ps3 to my 360 and wii so your argument becomes redundant right there.
@boom100060 yeah i have actually, and it's ok but not amazing unless the game is designed around it and then it's something quite cool. anyhoo a lot of people are getting very defensive over what i said but i'm speaking mostly from a business standpoint in that the psp2 is going to struggle because nintendo are just doing more to catch headlines. psp2 is redundant as a ps3 but more expensive and on a smaller screen, where as 3ds is a cheap 3dtv in your hand. I'm not buying either handheld anyway
@DevaOscura Ok everything you said there besides small is right. The screen IS smaller then 5" so what? And it's actually high resolution but with 3D, it has to make the image TWICE thus it has to sacrifice a bit of the quality for 3D effect. Of course 3D CAN BE turned OFF for it to look amazing. A narrow viewing angle? Well no shit dumbass it's a portable there's not many ways you can hold it. Don't get me wrong i love both of these portables but can't stand fanboys.
The 3DS screen is not high res. It ALWAYS renders at 400x240; even when 3D is off.
And with "narrow view angle", i meant the narrow sweet spot (where your get the 3D effect) of the 3DS's autostereoscopic screen.
So all my points are still standing:
bigger size, high resolution, OLED panel: perfect blacks, reaction time of 0.1ms, less power consumption etc. is simply superior to the 3DS's top screen.
nothing fanboyish about it; just a technical reality.
@jakamo I was just pointing out how ridiculous your comment was. Saying that the 3DS wins because it has a 3d screen and psp2 doesn't. I'm not buying either anyway, I have no use for a handheld.
@SpaceMonkeeys From a sales standpoint, the 3d is a very powerful unique selling point, so the comment was not rediculous at all. Profesisonal analysts who make great livings advising investors on what will sell in the games and technology industries have already declared that the psp2 will be "Dead on arrival". The same pattern has happened over and over and over with ds vs psp, wii vs ps3 and so on, and yet people are still too short sighted to see the inevitable... It's common sense.
@jakamo i'm not denying that the 3ds will sell a lot more than the psp2, but as the wii has shown, sales dont mean anything. I couldnt care less about sales, this is the problem with the games industry these days, it's far too business minded. There is no console that is "dead on arrival", the ps3, wii 360, psp, ds has all sold extremely well. Whats with all these business figures bullshit, I play games for fun not to support some business model.
@SpaceMonkeeys I play games for fun too, but the developer goes where the money goes. Unfortunately games cost so much money to make now that very very few make money back, and so they won't be made on the psp2 but on the 3ds where the customers are. So, in the love of wanting to play great games, it is a shame that after the initial push by sony's 1st party developers, there won't be much on the console accept for stripped down ports of console games, where 3ds games are built soley for the 3ds
