Ive got a VT SS 97 with 5 litre 308 in it and we ran it straight out the pacemakers to! we took it down the road for a spin and yeah, she was LOUD!!! everything was vibrating, the doors, the dash. just wish u could leave them like that, they sound awesome.....

it dosent cost anything just take ur exaust off and u will get alot more noise but onli for the exaust not from the engine, ive done it b4 it sounds great at idel but sounds like a FFFNN truck while driving ust stick to a 2.5inc exaust system mate

Hey mate. I've done a few DIY's but I didn't do one for the exhausts =)

The car has been fully upgraded now anyway haha. All new motor, exhaust, intake, clutch, diff, etc, etc.

Back pressure will reduce power, there's no ifs or buts about it. What your thinking of is having a large exhaust where the gas velocity is too low and you lose low end torque.

yeh hes thinking now header pipes, you need exhaust velocity out of the heads, its the same as running oversize valves in your engine.. really no need and will actually make less power unless you have a cam to suit.

Yeah mate it's pretty much impossible to go backwards these days. Any after market exhaust will give you gains.

No it wouldn't run like crap. Requiring back pressure is a myth, it's all to do with maintaining gas velocity. I never actually drove it like that either mind you.

some of the new computers have a sensor, if u take the pipes off, the cars go in limp mode or just won't start

If you take the oxygen sensors out it's have a sad, but they're located in the extractors.

only small capacity engines require a constant resistance and that is only going to affect the torque curve. Large capacity engines benefit gtreatly from low pressure...as is said below its about flow.

Hey mate. The rest is 4" high flow cats and a PAX 2.5" exhaust. Dont recommend the PAX haha. Maxed out at 230rwkw. Heard good things about the Sureflo 3.5" though :) High flow metal cats are the go as well. Besides the catback, metal cats will have the biggest effect on exhaust note :)

are they pacemakers you got fitted? your setup looks identical to mine, i've got a vx ls1. i'm thinking of removing either the front or rear mufflers to give it a more corvette like sound. anyone done this, or got any ideas on it?

Hi mate, yeah they're pacemaker 1 5/8 four into ones :) I hear removing the centre mufflers has a better effect but it's easier to remove the rear resonator. My exhaust is a PAX system, which is one of the cheapest you can get really ($600 fitted cat back). I do have high flow cats, but the sound is awesome. It's not a deep note, but sounds like a race engine, with a lot of crackle. I love it :)

remove the centre mufflers. removing the rear resi makes the exhaust drone real bad in the cabin.

Yeah mate LS1, and bang on with the 5.7L V8. At the time it hadn't been tuned, but now has. Other than the intake, exhaust and tune, the car's standard. Apart from mags... :)

Haha na the new one (Pontiac G8 in American terms) is a muuuuch better package! My car can't compare. It was redesigned from the ground up with a big budget. It's also got a 6L V8 now, the 5.7L hasn't been made for a few years! I'll have to spend more money before I get more videos!
