Not only is Record setting the standard in software. It beats protools anyday. Not only does the SSL9000k sound like the real thang in the studio.Unlimited tracks to work with, easy cpu usage.not takin up workflow space.Take my 400 hundred and I'll take the 150,000 vurtual model anyday.
@meadowview15block Yes Record is a great software, that's all I use now. Now that I am use to everything it's just second nature to me. Protools never was my go to, to make music because the sequencer is not that great. Props got it right their sequencer is tight, once they get the editing up to par it's on.
One question... How good is the board? You've created a really nice mic of this track, but haven't used the board for anything other than sending and routing. How are the EQ's and dynamics in comparison with a RL 9000K?
This is the main thing I personally want to know about record. They model an SSL, but does it really SOUND like an SSL? Would be cool if they could come with expansions so you could have the 4000K E and G series boards or maybe a Neve 88RS. Or the Duality xD.
@BjerkeRobin Oh the board is a great emulation of the 9000K even the pros said so. Oh the EQ's are fabulous! They really work, even the Compression & Dynamics. Go to my other video called "Da N.O.C. Music with Record SSL " There is a track there with lyrics and listen and watch how I rock the Eq. No real SSL board sound the same, this has all the knobs the real SSL 9000K has and you can tweak and make your sound with this baby! 100% back this up
@wpc45 How are you? Yes you can, you mean automation, yes it can do that. You have to set your midi controller knobs to the mute and solo buttons, press record at the point you want and it will do it. Once done, play back and watch the mute and solo buttons go off and on. Also you can do pan buttons too that's really fun. Love record.
I think Record is an amazing DAW system (not a "board") though i would still much rather stick to pro tools simply cause it is very efficient and is in most pro studios. It is industry standard and runs a 48 bit sound engine. I still use reason but the sound engine in Reason and Record is horrible. I rewire it through pro tools to achieve the sound and flexibility i want. There are more editing tools. More functions and you have the option of using vsts, rtas and au.
thanx for your reply! i disagree with you but i don´t want to inflame a discussion here about audio equipment, and how it sounds like. i guess that it´s only an individual matter of taste. like bruce swedien used to say: "if it sounds right, then it is right!". i invide you to have a discussion about things like bit resolution, audio engines camparissons and so on and so forth. but youtube is not the right place to talk about all these details. don´t you think? ;-)
On the contrary. Youtube is all about discussion. Its the best way to learn. That and experience. You are right, if it sounds good that is all that matters but in this case pro tools is the more superior DAW system. Better algorythms = better sound. Anyway, it is as you said, a matter of taste to a degree but then there are facts.
since i use RECORD on daily basis as my main music mixing tool i feel no further need for VST, respectivelly AU effects plug ins. unbelievable sound quality and flexibility! despite of some things i still miss (VCA-fader groups, mono button in the monitor section and routing buttons in the mixing channel´s panel) i love it to work with RECORD and to finish all my jobs ITB now. also the RV7000 is amazing because from my POV it sounds like a 15.000$US unit. THANX PROPELLERHEADS!!!
I heard that Marcuso, that's great. I love Record, I use two things to make music, MPC2000xl and Record. When I'm in record I stay that and make up the whole track, because I can use all my hardware synths with it also plus the Refills oh my goodness there are so many refills. Plus you can get the 202 Effects which are four, 480L, H3000, M6000, and the PCM91 Patches, they are so hot to death. I don't need any VSTs with it I am good.
how do you midi up your mpc to record? is there some sort of break out? I have a digi 002 from my protools le.. can I use my digi oo2 with reason and Record?
The RV 7000 sounds great though it sounds nothing like a 15,000$ unit. I work in large studio in LA called brokenwave. (ssl boards, neve boards, api, protools hd)
The reverb units in that studio sounds ten times better. The RV7000 uses algorithms. (emulates the sound of reverb) That is why it is not costly.
A Convolution Reverb consists of a recorded sample (called an Impulse Response or "IR") of an acoustic space to excitation from a signal such as a sweep tone, starter gun, or snare drum crack, and the effect on the space of that signal after it has been removed and usably transformed by the convolution processor. Convolution reverbs essentially record and process the reverberant behavior unique to a real acoustic space. This by far is better than any reverb that uses algorithms.
What up DJXman? Yeah Record is sick, but you still have skeptics still crying about VST's and midi, if one is skilled enound you don't let a couple of things stop you. That's why they made rewire, if people are talkin about VSTs use rewire in your host and stop saying the same thing over and over, it's played out!
Co-sign! I was a bit upset when they discontinued Record, but quickly snatched that R6 upgrade.

@mcgheeteam Yes it has a 64 bit bus mix engine, that's great! It sounds warm also, that's a beauty. It's the best mixing board in software!
