  • I heard that they were charged with a felony. If that is true then ha ha that will haunt them the rest of their life. This is what happens when you try to be cool.

  • I don't get it, why would they randomly go up to a church that says peace and yell at them for peace? Obviously the Catholics want to end the war. Why protest to the Catholics?

  • I think for Christians, a stance for peace is something all of us need to fight for. Our churches are places of worship, and If we use the pulpit to encourage war, then we as the congregants should speak out against such behaviour, even if it is in the presece of Jesus.

Jesus fought for peace and truth, his crucifixion and glorious ressurection is proof of it. I think to arrest them was not the christian thing to do, what happened to forgiveness?let us pray for the Bishop and people like him

  • This protest was NOT aimed at the Catholic faith, nor was sacriledge intended. No - the correct target, Cardinal George, was chosen. He is up to his ass along with the other US bishops in enabling the Iraq war. The ppl in the pews are just too spiritually blind to see the pain & misery which war causes.

Indeed - the church's hands are soiled with blood!

    Bravo!

  • I Am Catholic...And I Am proud That Some Of Us Still See War As Murder...May God Bless These Young People. And All Who Will Stand For Peace. It Is Time The Church Should Wash The Blood From Her Hands.

  • lamarridley - I agree. And how truly sad for the parishoners to "boo" this group of young people & for the security guard to tell them to "get over themselves". People find comfort in believing that they are saved - that God will chose them, and all the while they miss every opportunity in this life to be a good Christian & to lead by example.

  • I guess I see both sides, I definitely agree with you two but I think that maybe this was the wrong way to do it. Its only going to get people pissed at you and they're not going to listen to anything you say. And while I believe you should be able to protest anyway you want I also think there is definitely a right time and a right place.

  • In this hectic world i need god in my life....I don't care what anyone says....In my opinion as long as there remains no answer to the question "Why is there something rather than nothing?" there will always be a God in my heart....These flaming liberals need to keep their protests to themselves...If i saw them do that in a church i would have gone up to them knocked them on their ass.

  • Cool. Anyone wants to disrupt a church service I'm happy with that! Religion is a scam, and if the Pope calls for peace, he's a big fat liar. The entire religion of Christianity is at war, with itself and other religions, as well as reality and nature.

  • It wasn't right for them to protest in that way. You have every right to protest what you want but not when you vandalise a place. This is why I dislike radicals on any side of an issue. They always fling themselves into their ideas without hinking things through.

  • The priest quotes God or whoever 'Peace I give'? May I ask what the fuck is he waiting for then?

  • Stop this brutal war better called - Operation Iraqi Liberation - OIL

  • Freedom & your civil rights didn't just happen cause people hoped & wished it to be that way it came from people who fought & died to make it that way and Freedom will always have a price God bless all those who gave it up for their country!! AND REMEMBER 9/11

  • stop genocide in iraq

iraq innocent people lose life by named of "free them"

stop use young bleed exchange for oil.

  • Some assholes are shocked with fake blood!!!! Imagine if I threw a dying 5 year old Iraqi child in their hands? Whould they try to save him or wash their clothes first so that they won't be stained. WHat hypocricy

  • Wrapped4 Americans see no blood, unless they are a soldier or the family of an injured or dead one. We are blinder than the Germans who did not see the gas chambers.

  • This is a very proper place and a very proper moment to talk about peace and love. Christ himself went into the temple to do so.I wish these young people the warmest and best things. And of course I will sign the petition! Talking about love and peace should be rewarded and not punished!!! I was stuck on the comment of the man that said now he had to go home and change clothes. That was the disturbance for his easter day.I cannot believe my eyes seeing this video.

  • these poor men are facing felony charges for up to 7 yes 7 years. IN THE REPORT AGIANST THEM THE COURT SAID THE "FLUNG" BLOOD when the didnt at all thy had fake blood on them. The court / prosecutors even said that they hit the cardinal with the blood. And supposable caused 3000 worth of damages. When fake blood is washable the church i=s going for all the money they can get the people that got blood on themselves were the ones that pushed the protesters.

STAND WITH THESE MEN AND GO TO COURT!!!

  • "So?" That was the word that flew out of Cheney's mouth when an ABC news reporter pointed out, that with regard to the illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq, "two-thirds of Americans say it's not worth fighting for." "So," as if not even Cheney himself had any words left to let us know that he cares nothing about what the people think or say of the Bush Regime's blatant war crimes.

In the face of this immorality, it is high holy work to wake up and speak up.

  • I don't think it was appropriate to fling fake blood throughout the church. I understand they are trying to convey an important message, but that wasnt very intelligent on their part--and lead to their arrest. They should've gotten more kids to protest and spread everyone throughout the church--to make the message louder. I mean if they wanted to use a prop, they should've used a sign. Smart idea though!

  • They are heroes...but they were wrong to disrupt a church service. The Church does not condone the war.

  • mulg1 Then Cardinal George should not have visited with Emperor George. And the Pope should not visit with the war criminal this week on his first trip to America. The Catholic Church needs to put its words into actions, instead of just lip service.

  • Catholic Doctrine of Just War:

"Force may be used only to correct a grave, public evil, i.e., aggression or massive violation of the basic human rights of whole populations."

The Iraq War was a preemptive strike and cannot be considered at all a just war. And the torture our army has used is further atrocity. Given the Pope's stance, they were completely justified in doing what they did, where they did, given Catholic Doctrine.

  • I am glad that we are talking about it. Something as to be done,we can't continue on this path. We all need to do more to make peace come about. The church should be the lead in the peace process they should be help accountable. At some time we must choose love in-stead of hate, peace in-stead of violence, understanding in-stead of arrogance.

    Your brother,

  • all them poor souls . . Christians are just poetic freakys inflicted in the misery of themselfs . . in 20 years no1 speaks of america, moslems or christians cause they be all on the moon ;) NATURE ITSELF will have the last word on this planet!

  • Ok, I understand why they were thrown out, but why were they arrested? I understand that spilling fake blood on the churches grounds and congregation would constitute vandalism, but why were they arrested? Isn't freedom of protest part of our American rights?

Please respond to my post or message me, as I don't understand what crime they have committed other than the fake blood...

  • one of those guys is my friend

they are charged with 2 assults of battery and vandalism costing him if convicted on all charges years, and a felony on his backk so it will be harder to get a job loss of voting rights.

the goverment can get away with watever they want.

    FIGHT BACK

  • They are exactly right, noone is visualizing what is really going on because of the MSM blackout on truth. We are blinded to the Iraq Holocaust like the Germans during WWII to Nazi atrocities .

  • Not my President! Not my War and Not in my Name!

  • In my openion and I could be wrong, The US does not want to crush the insurgents soon on purpose. It needs to use the insurgency execuse to remain in iraq. They never secured the piles of weapon stocks after they defeated the iraqi military and they dont secure iraq desert borders which is easy in a mostly desert area. They want the insurgents to keep fighting them so they have an excuse to remain in iraq. They need to buy time to build the bases and secure the piple line.

  • christians my ass...jesus wouldnt approve of killing millions for oil

  • I can't believe the parishoner said she'll get through the experience because "we have faith." Faith in WHAT? Some God-given right to live each day without ever questioning your complicity in war crimes? It's frightening to see people so easily unnerved by the disruption of a moment of their day, yet they are not rattled by 5 years of torture and massive death from an illegal war done in their name.

  • i can dig it

  • Protesting in a Catholic Church, which has been against the war since it began. They make the anti-war movement look bad.

  • These kids were courageous! Give your money to the church and you support mass murder and wars based on lies. The church backs the most vile illegal administration this country has ever seen and scorns kids who tell the truth. Their god surely is not the GOD of the BIBLE. They worship Satan and are wolves in sheeps clothing. Think about this before you put money in the basket.

  • These protesters are true American Heroes, unlike The High Priests of Sanctimonious Egotistical Capitalist Greed and Genocidal Slaughter who currently pollute The White House and many other 'leadership' positions in the American political and religious infrastructure.

  • Tithe for Peace. Every Sunday I place an Afterdowningstreet. org IMPEACH TO STOP THE WAR flyer in the church weekly envelope.

  • Well a church for war is a fallen church and The pastor is a heretic.

These churches are run by businessmen Bigots and hypocrites

  • Didn't the pope called the war on Iraq "immoral"and "ilegal"? All the people present in the church should have applauded for those young brave people not afraid to speak the truth. Poor things, their Easter Sunday Mass was disrupted (while innnocents die in Iraq).

  • Any Christian (or anyone else) who can't recognize that these kids are following in Jesus' footsteps is completely blind. Take it from this atheist.

  • almost makes me want to go back to church. These people understand the words of Jesus much better than the Cardinal and some of theseparishioners!

  • "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God" (Matthew 5:9).

  • gee, some guy got a stain on his clothes, that's too bad. can you believe some programmed idiot was telling the protesters that the FAKE blood was going too far??

1,000,000 Iraqis have been murdered, shedding rivers of their REAL BLOOD!!!

and it's done in the name of every American citizen. ALL Americans should be screaming in their churches, schools, workplaces, homes and streets for the end of this war! even calling it a war is ridiculous. War is when TWO sides are fighting. this is genocide.

  • Bush's self-proclaimed "crusade" against "Radical Islam" (read: any state in the Middle East that opposes American imperialism) makes it imperative for U. S. churches to repudiate White House policies by the strongest nonviolent means at their disposal. Instead, most churches remain neutral at best, and most churchgoers remain far too passive even when they oppose U. S. policy. The sacrifice of these few on the altar of religion was done for the sake of peace in Iraq. Amen to that.

  • Well said. It is unfortunate that the US church system is so inextricably linked to the Bush administration that it causes heavy perversion of both political policy and religious values. These so called 'Christians' of the denomination that Bush so feverently backs, are amongst the strongest atheists in history. In other words, these people haven't a f*cking clue and it is us, the atheists, agnostics and those of respectable denominations that must save their souls (read: our planet).

  • Thank you for being so courageous. Too bad a few Americans were "inconvenienced." If they did their jobs as Americans then activists wouldn't need to go to these extremes. The more people turn a blind eye to what their government is doing in their name, the more things like this are going to happen. It will only get worse. Too bad it was during mass. Practice what you preach!!!! Thou shall not kill.

  • This was amazing. Church is EXACTLY when people have to be reminded of the hypocrisy of those who preach peace and promote war! Everyday business must be disrupted! Those protesters are inspiring and courageous!

  • So worshipers of one of the worst criminal institutions in world history were bothered for 10 seconds of their day while they sit allowing their government to invade and murder civilians in another country. Sorry, if that's offensive to anyone or anyone really thinks this was a serious violation of their religious freedom. Their intentions were never to block their RIGHT to worship. What about the rights of Iraqis in which we are responsible for violating?

  • They did not infringe upon the cardinal's freedom of speech as he was free to keep on talking. Same with freedom of religion. He deserved to be interrupted in the middle of his hypocitic religions' most glorious moment because he met with Bush and did not voice dissent. The call that appeasment, as in Nevile Chamberlain, who appeased Hitler. These protestors deserve our gratitude for speaking the obvious where it most needed to be heard--in the deep slumber of the Catholic church.

  • Thou shalt not kill. That says it all. If the Cardinal does not follow the tenets of his own religion, then he is a heretic. It is not only the right of these young heros to speak up, it is their duty. The hierarchy of the Catholic Church should be devoted to stopping the Bush administration and its endless campaign of agressive and illegal war.The churches in our country have joined this Nazi administration and are planning to assist them by disarming us and telling us to get on the cattle cars

  • The church freaks have priests who rape kids, but they don't care. So why would they care about this fukd up war in iraq?

Just like they Didn't Care when people were First Dying of Aids!

TAX ALL CHURCHES! OFF THE PRIESTS! STOP THE WAR: THE WORLD CAN'T WAIT! GREAT JOB FELLOW ACTIVISTS!! QP*

KEEP FIGHTING, STILL DEMAND IMPEACHMENT OF BUSH AND JAIL FOR CHENEY/ROVE AND THEIR GANG WHO CREATED THE DOWN FALL OF AMERICA! GOP=NAZIS.

    * NO MORE REPUBLICANS IN OFFICE- VOTE THEM OUT!!

    PEACE OUT~ QUANPETE

  • Good job, the media is told what to air, and they don't do a good job making the peace protests a top priority news headline. Becoming the media is the right idea and confronting the man that met with GeorgeW and could have influenced him to end the tragedy that is going on in the middle east.

  • As Americans it is a common observation that we are too comfortable, too complacent with what is at our doorstep. This is not to diminish the abhorent realities of a growing number of our citizenry.

Really though?! A bit of fake blood to remind us of the REAL BLOOD shed by Iraqis and other world citizens as a result of the Bush Regime War of Lies. The most dangerous terrorists are in the White House...Imagine if corporate media showed us the TRUE cost of war, not some sterilized version...

  • Artho..Wake up everyone...pay attention..hell is going on here...hooray for those that get out and throw things around to express that we need action.

  • Poor guys, they just look stupid. I'm not even Catholic, but I know enough about Catholicism to say that the Catholic Church is definitely NOT for the Iraq war. Their argument was that since Cardinal George had lunch with Bush, he must be pro-war. I think that this protest was misplaced, misguided, and in effect just rude.

  • who cares, the institution of religion is amazingly retarded. you know what else is retarded? bush administration, our legal system, the war on terrorism among other things... retards pairing up with retards and going against other retards. these people know that its all a joke anyways so why not have some fun.

  • Those kids are just publicity whores. There was nothing honorable or laudable about their actions this Easter Sunday. Freedom of speech does not mean the freedom to disrupt the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass or any other form of worship. These kids obviously did not wish to enter into a serious, intellectual debate.

Disruptions like these only serve as a detriment to any message that they might be trying to get across.

  • Those kids deserve a medal.

In a city where the river is dyed green on St Patrick's Day and where on that same day drunken Catholic kids vomit on the street, a few washable, non-toxic blood stains are nothing.

  • A medal for what? What did they achieve? THey made it on TV, they pissed off a lot of people, they failed advance the anti-war movement. This was nothing more than immature children showing they have the ability to yell out during Easter Sunday mass. Anyone can do it and doing it achieves nothing. I think most logical war protesters would agree that this was highly improper.

  • i agree with OleoStrut71 &&

these people are saying that have to go hoem and relax... why? BECUASE THEY GOT FAKE BLOOD ON THEIR JACKET!?! get over it.. go buy a new jacket.. and omg they act like they're gunna be scarred for life because they seem some young protesters squirt fake blood on eachother?

    give me a break.

i mean we all have our own opinion on things...

    but jeez..

  • I can understand their call for peace (because I want peace too), but there are times when these types of protests are NOT appropriate, and that time and place was one of those. I really do hope that they are ashamed of what they did, because I am, Catholic or not, it's just not right.

  • Ha-the cardinal's reaction is funny. He just babbled on about peace while trying to keep his cool. "but then afraid also as we all are, of our own sinfulness & of the difficulties that are incumbent upon working for peace in the world in different ways in which people see the need to work for peace. in that witness i think we can be grateful for those who have interrupted this homily." HUH!

  • Why pull this stunt in a Catholic church? The people are just stand there like brain washed zombies, so it was a waist of time.

  • What is sad about this is that the priest did not join the protestors and congratulate them for speaking out and for PEACE! The entire congregation should have spoken out and exclaimed "Yes, we are for peace, and against the killing of human beings!" But yet, they sat their like sheeple, and let the priest do his pathetic little serman. People who are cowards, are the very ones who are as guilty as those who do evil things. Silence = death!

  • If you pay attention to the cardinal as they're leaving, he says, "And so should we all call for peace" and he was applauded. He also made a statement after the protesters were arrested. They have the right to exercise freedom of speech, but there is a time and place. Look at how many people met with George Bush after the war, including the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. Is anyone going to protest against them?

  • Seriously, this warrants felony charges with $25,000+ bail set for each of them? Good grief.

  • "We should all work for peace," George said, "but not by interrupting the worship of God."

Oh Well. Did you really expect better from a "Church" that was complicit with the Nazis?

  • Great message -- WORST venue. People should be allowed to worship how they want without an interruption like that. I hope they don't get long term jailtime, though, because that will only make them more bitter toward the government.

  • There is a time and place for everything. This wasn't time or the place. These kids are just glory seekers. Not to mention just plain idiotic. I'm quite sure their parents are probably shocked and disappointed with their children's behavior. Last time I checked the armed forces were all volunteers. Anyone in the military should know you stand a chance of going into combat when you join up.

  • My best to Cardinal George!

  • Under the Misnamed and Un-American Patriot Act.

These young People's 1st Admendment Rights have been abolished.

  • These people can call themselves whatever they want, but they aren't Catholic. No Catholic would do this during the mass period. You have to have absolutely no respect for the mass to do something like this. Stunts like this are going to backfire, you don't get people to agree with you by desecrating their religion.

Why do this during the mass? Has the Cardinal been elected to public office?

  • 4,000 Dead for what???

The average Casket is 84 inches in length.

    4,000 Caskets equal 336,000 inches.

There are 63,360 inches in a mile.

Line these Casket in a row and that would equal 5.30 Miles.

How many more Miles of Death until Peace?

How many more miles until America awakens and learn from the evil we've unleashed?

Thank God our Children are learning the wrongs their Elder Leaders are doing and voicing their 1st Admendment Rights.

Then arrested for their Freedom of Speech?

  • Freedom of Speech comes from the 1st amendment - also found in there is freedom of religion. These kids went well past freedom of speech when then interfered with that priest's freedom of speech and interfered with those worshipper's freedom of religion. Freedom of speech is NOT the freedom to say whatever you want whenever you want. Freedom of speech means that you can say you are against the war and inform others why AS LONG AS it does NOT interfere with other's rights

  • I agree people talk about peace but don't practice this should happen every day.

  • Finally the youth of our country are coming out of their parents closets and speaking out against this insanity. This should be done in every house of worship all over the world. Do you think the mother of a dead soldier cares about preachers?

Keep it up and maybe we'll get our country and our children back alive.

  • you have just lost hundred people for every one you persuade...can you not see that? There were children in there being splattered by fake blood thrown around by infantile narcissists. It makes me sick to see this and to see you actually condone this...this is not american youth...nice try

  • It is one thing to stand outside a church and have a protest because that does not infringe on another's right to worship. Freedom of speech is one thing - property damage and interfering with the rights of others is going too far. Here's some advice - if you want to persuade someone to be active in being against the war, it may not be a good idea to act childish and selfish like these people did. Everyone in that church is now more in support of the war than every before.

  • I don't know if this protest suddenly turned the churchgoers into pro-war, but considering the Vatican has been against the Iraq War from day one, this protest was certainly misguided and just a cheap attention grab.

  • The ironic thing is that in being Catholic most of the people in that congregation are against the war. Though now after that little episode they may still be against the war but also against the anti-war movement at the same time.

  • Well said.
