THE BEST SONG OF ALL TIME! First heard it in '73 in Canada and UK, and it's haunted me ever since, even comes into my dreams at night sometimes. It's only the opinion of one man, I know, but I've never heard a song to top it. Dan's fantastic voice merging with the hypnotic beat, bass and rythmn guitar complemented by the beautifully-eerie lead guitar is second to none in rock history. A piece of musical ingenuity. FIRST-CLASS GUYS!
Very under rated band, their older stuff was rockin, when they came out with Malice it was like they sold out to the radio songs, I love the Malice album but its just not the same sound. This song does not get enough if any radio play on those classic stations which play the hell out of journey & boston and other than an occasional hair of the dog or love hurts ignore this band completly
@flatlinerider I've watched a lot of these old European 'disco' vids and the bands have lip sync'd in all of them, so yes I think you are right here. Lip synching was very common in the '70s on shows like this and TOTP, gladly thats one thing we've now left behind. Amazing song this tho. I always wished it could go on longer instead of ending so abruptly!
Yes, they were lip syncing. All the bands on "Disco" were lip syncing, as the format of the programme didn't allow any sophisticated live performances.
I think some of the German performers sang live, whilst they had the music coming from a tape.
hellfire =) holy clip! wie steif die da rumhocken..LACH...was tele erinnerungen.. ... ich könnte mich nicht ruhig halten bei dem sound ! hairs up-load!
thanks nazfan43,they didnt have the sound equipment back then the bands had to have raw talent, unlike now if they look 'pretty' the engineers can manufacture a voice and hire the best session men,how else could some of todays 'boybands' etc perform without a lot of technical assistance.
well i can thank my parents for loving this band. my mom played it all the time when she partied in her younger days. i remember falling asleep to this band, while mom and dad, and their friends partied downstairs. Love them both, parents, and.... NAZARETH!
1974, man, these dudes were way ahead of their time!!! The sound, the riffs, the unmistakable hard rock / metal "GUNT gu gu GUNT gu gu GUNT gu gu GUNT"!!!! Timeless for sure.
Saw these guys live with Thin Lizzy on a twin-bill in 1978. Awesome show! There just aren't bands like this around anymore. This was when record companies allowed band artistic lattitude instead of directing them to a "commercially accepted sound". Long live the 70's!
Myann I wish I wouldn't have gone on that Flight that night....But you knwo what they say Love Hurts.......And as I flew away from everythng......Ive seen/contacted/found her but waiting too say something too her. while We meet again "Babe"......L.Y
@mik63ward Yeah except that Nazareth formed 5 years before ACDC formed and the original band The Shadettes that later formed into Nazareth was formed in 1961 so 12 years before ACDC. Plus Nazareth had put out 4 albums before ACDC even formed and 5 by the time ACDC had put out one and this song was put out the year ACDC formed if not one year before ACDC formed 72 or 73. Nazareth is my favorite band of all time. I love ACDC but Nazareth influenced ACDC if anything.

Nazareth totally butcher this version of Joni Mitchells great song,,,Saddly this was probably Nazareth's best effort.
I had 3 albums of theirs for some unknown reason...Oh yeah I was young and stupid and liked the No mean city cover.
I've been going over some of their songs here on youtube and they are absolutely crap, one of the shittest bands every to waddle around for 40 tuneless, screeching years..... but I agree, prolly the best thing out of Scotland ever.
Love this version Love his voice all depends what your tastes are i guess many followers honey go back to your folk balads and turn the sound down! It might wake your MUM!
\WHAT!!!!!? butcher? joni wrote great songs, but every cover anyone has ever done of jonis songs were better. this is a classic. and nazareth put out great rock. whiskey drinkin woman?

@xtcongo You clearly don't have an ear for music at all and as sick as this may sound you may as well not have ears if you can't appreciate the GODS of music (NAZARETH). You clearly have a shit taste for music. I bet you like Justin Bieber or some shit like Taylor Swift. NOW GTFO!!!
Unfortunately, we used to dance alot to Garys music, glitters glam error, this clip was taken from a VHS tape featuring hits of the time! Gary eeeeoooowwww!
man i wish i was born old enough to have seen these guys live -_- but no... instead i was born 2 decades later! this is what you call real music! i loveeee Nazareth!
Absolutely but no harm in reviving it all and passing it on. Loved all the songs of Nazareth used to listen to them all the time only song I disliked was 'My White Bicycle' fast forward! They never came out I was only 13 at the time anyway ;-)
LOVE THE HAIR...Wasn't it ALL About The Hair Back Then...I Remember My Sister Cranking This Up .... Takes Me Back Every Time I Hear It....The Best Cover Ever !!
It's pretty amazing that at one time was Dan McCafferty was a pretty good looking guy. Oh well, cigarettes, aging, and constant touring takes its toll. Peace.
Myan its amazing how each individual can realte too any type of music classic's too now. This song is amazing and reminds me of going on a flight i shouldnt have gone onn:-(...
i met the guitarist of nazereth at perth train station in the late 90s and the guy was so down to earth. I tried to sing this classic to him= bad bad boy,my white bicycle etc just to let him know that i knew who they were that although i was only 5 years old when naz got together in 1968 my older bro was a hugh fan and i can remember him belting this one out back in the mid 70s This band make you proud to be scottish.
@darcy32171 haha I see what you mean there just gazing away. like uhh Oh Wow myan!! LOL. wish I was that stoned...Myan drugs must have been great back in the 60s and 70s.........
ha ha i was born in 1941,got 60s,70s,80s.saw these live, also sabbeth, purple, snake, black oak, osmans(bloody osmans must of been on something, oh yea i remember.).
All time favourite cover of this song. Nazareth continues to be on my top 10 list of classic rock bands. When I want to play along with classics (old school guitar hero - with a real guitar) I load up bands like Foghat, Lizzy and Nazareth.
@keelywearsprada i'm not lame enough to know who keely wears prada is or to ever listen to them. nazareth is real rock and i do enjoy some joni mitchell, but it sounds like you need to go back to your faggy ass fall out boy and bullet for my valentine and leave rock and roll to those who don't have sell some image or brand name to teeny boppers. it's people like you who are fuckin rock and roll up and you should really stop, because in the long run your the idiot.
They're not as big as KISS,,.... because they didnt sell their souls like Gene Simmons did (because Gene invented air & OJ you know) ... and they are not as big as Ozzy, because they didnt snort enough coke,,.. Ted?(phmphm). BUT,,,...... I always wondered if ACDC was giving Dan M a look when they were looking for a singer soon after Bon passed on...
@heymikey59 Who GOT a lot more pussy than you'll ever get. He's now 63, looks far uglier, and his voice is shot (though Nazareth still tours sometimes even so). I highly doubt women are now beating down his door. But so what? Besides all the great music he gave us, I'm sure he fondly remembers all the pussy he once got, too. Peace.
Man.......it's so sad to see great bands like this having to lip-sync and shadow-play to their own bloody music because the technology wasn't their for them on a particular television appearance. I have heard this song 100's of times and this performance was pitch-perfect with the original. Oh well.......still a great song from a kick-ass band.
Wow, it doesn't get much better than that. Songs like this are very much unappreciated when compared to Hair Of The Dog & Love Hurts, which are also great songs.
Everytime I hear this i'm back in my high school cafeteria wearing my platforms shoes (still got em) fantastic time machine

Julio Iglesias on the charts between Susy Quatro and Nazareth, that's as close to be cool that Julio Iglesias ever was.

Boy he's one ugly mother fucker.... Who's getting a lot more pussy than I'll ever get :-(

Dan McCafferty has a one of a kind voice, hell, Nazareth has a one of a kind sound.

Wow, it doesn't get much better than that. Songs like this are very much unappreciated when compared to Hair Of The Dog & Love Hurts, which are also great songs.
