AGW is not proven conclusively. You can keep referring me to Nature.com until your face turns red, it's not going to convince anyone. There is enough contrary evidence - specifically that GW is a natural or cyclical phenomenon - to consider the jury "still out" on the matter. In fact, the more empirical evidence pours in from places like the Antartic core studies, the more AGW is undermined. Besides science is ABOUT variance of opinion. It's why scientists have jobs.

His logic was right: Despite whether or not the majority of scientists agree concerning AGW, spending hundreds of billions of dollars to reduce emissions and "cap and trade" laws, it's only IN THIS COUNTRY, not world wide. America's emissions are something like 20% of the world total, with a projected fall by 2030 to about 15%. China's projected emissions by 2030 is about 51% of the world total!

People should look into themselves with an open mind, setting aside political allegiances and just see who makes the best arguments. A lot of times that just gets in the way of the real issues. Look how many comments are of the "Gore is a fatso" variety. People should set aside political loyalties and look at the basic physical fact that CO2 traps heat and the empirical and maths case that that explains 20th warming.

Last time I checked the earth goes through climate cycles, and has been prior to mass man-made pollution. Heats up and cools down, heats up and cools down. Man's affect on the climate is irrelevant. Senator Inhofe does what deniers always do when confronted by the statistic of overwhelming backing by the climate scientists that AGW is basically along the lines the IPCC have outlined. He switches to talking about how to deal with the problem, which I agree is very complicated and difficult. But quite different from claiming there is big debate if AGW is real. Greenhouse gases already warm the planet by around 33 degrees, without them it would be very chilly, this is not even a new discovery, its been known for over 100 years. Do some research for yourself instead of watching Fox news.

Simply put, to him this isn't about climate changes and environmental problems, its about economic concerns that will result from fixing environmental problems. The IPCC has only 2,500 experts on global warming. Less than 1% are Climatologists. The IPCC theory is driven by just 60 scientists! Al Gore is not a Climatologist. 31,486 scientists, including 9,029 with PhDs, plus 650 of the worlds leading Climatologists are all against global warming. 32,136 against global warming, 2,500 for global warming. There has never been a "consensus" in science. Anthropogenic (Man caused) global warming does not exist, because it is a media generated myth!

This unannounced meet in the hallways was a coordinated move by global warming believers.
If the science is 'settled' then why do the top scientists of global warming continually change data? Why did they delete raw data? Why did they delete emails? Why are they doing 'tricks'? Why do they 'hide the decline'"
Where are the investigative reporters who can blow the top off this global warming movement?

AGW is not proven conclusively. You can keep referring me to Nature.com until your face turns red, it's not going to convince anyone. There is enough contrary evidence - specifically that GW is a natural or cyclical phenomenon - to consider the jury "still out" on the matter. In fact, the more empirical evidence pours in from places like the Antartic core studies, the more AGW is undermined. Besides science is ABOUT variance of opinion. It's why scientists have jobs.

I have to give credit to the libs here as well. They were cordial and listened, then asked their questions in a perfectly acceptable tone. Inhofe also kept his cool and made his points in a rational way.
If only all our debates and discourse could be conducted in such a manner, we might get more done.

Whether there is "official" warming or not there is no harm in everyone lowering population, consume less, get rid of the commercial pesticides and yes just stop having so many kids. There are only a limited amount of resources and we have already loss many animals and plants that are not replaceable.

@doughbafett Notice how the new mantra is "climate change" instead of "global warming", since the science has indicated a noticeable cooling trend for the last ten years. At any rate, policy that puts the American economy at an economic disadvantage is no policy that should be adopted.

@doughbafett This is why I didn't believe in AGW. Back in the days of Clinton and the Kyoto Treaty, it was clear that the only "solution" the warming believers had was to tax the American people. Even if AGW is true, how does that reduce carbon emmisions? It doesn't. China and India are not going to stay poor for our sake. All the treaty would do is destroy the life of Americans. Even Canada has backtracked on Kyoto. That young girl needs to get a clue.

I appreciated Inhofe's cool-headed response to these two. His logic was right: Despite whether or not the majority of scientists agree concerning AGW, spending hundreds of billions of dollars to reduce emissions and "cap and trade" laws, it's only IN THIS COUNTRY, not world wide. America's emissions are something like 20% of the world total, with a projected fall by 2030 to about 15%. China's projected emissions by 2030 is about 51% of the world total!

Ok, cheers guys. This is getting to be a bit of a time sink for me. Some of you debated pretty honestly and I enjoyed the back and forth, even though I fear some of my best points may have fallen on deaf ears. Some of you spazzed out and called me names and I enjoyed seeing you lose your cool. Maybe we'll do this again some time, but for now I guess I'll have to leave the last word to whoever wants it.

"98% of climate scientists believe we're warming the planet!" Once again, you have the sheep quoting from the same poll that's been quoted by every other sheeple in the world. The same poll that's been dismissed by scientists because the questions it asks are muddy. Climate scientists agree the planet is warming. They DO NOT agree that it is caused by man. They're about 50/50 on that. If 50 doctors tell me my kid needs an operation, and 50 say no..I'm gonna get more opinions.

@Willaev I've looked at all sides of the debate over the Oreskes meta-study published in the journal Science. There's not enough space in youtube comments to get into it. People should look into themselves with an open mind, setting aside political allegiances and just see who makes the best arguments. In this video Inhofe appeals to a list of names selected for their pov. Obviously flawed method. He should have an independent survey conducted based on objective criteria of merit/qualification.

@Willaev I've been interested in this whole debate since well before that movie came out. It didn't influence me one way or another. I'm not especially interested in politicians' views on science. A lot of times that just gets in the way of the real issues. Look how many comments are of the "Gore is a fatso" variety. People should set aside political loyalties and look at the basic physical fact that CO2 traps heat and the empirical and maths case that that explains 20th warming.

@jrshipley Except for the fact that CO2 traps heat, none of this is true. There's no conclusive scientific evidence that human caused CO2 emissions are creating a warmer climate. Many people continue to assert this, and it's NOT true.

Sorry, but to me if you accept the first three then it's hard to say positively that the fourth is false. You say "inconclusive" leaving wiggle room but the case has gotten more and more plausible with more and more research coming in

@jrshipley Yes. Politics in science is how we got into this mess, on the other hand that may be fundamentally inescapable. I believe the AGW-theory is driven by societal guilt, and that is biasing scientists from looking at other, natural causes.

@Willaev Me too. I bought into it in the early 90's. We have a lot more data now. Many scientists and politicians went "all in" with global warming at the same time and now cannot get out.
