  • expertvillage is weird... O_o watched this for a school party... not really helpful...

  • This video sucks, my hair has been red, black, orange, blonde, blue, pink and now is purple but I do it because that´s the way I feel better not to show the world "how gothic I am", it´s stupid to tell people they need black or colorful hair, and the worst...there are no video guides to be gothic, you need to be yourself first, hair, makeup, clothes and accesories are fun if you like it but been goth comes from the inside, it´s not only about how you look

  • this whole series has made me laugh. comedy gold.

  • Ummm WRONG! I'm goth, and i have had my hair every colour under the sun you do not need your hair to be black or funky coloured! Be your self that's what it's all about!

  • i love your hair

  • She obviously knows ''how to dress goff''

  • i love goths with blond hair ^-^ they look more "gothicy" ahaha

  • Hair doesn't have anything what-so-EVER to do with appearing gothic. HELL - you can be...bald

    ~Myself

  • i keep my red locks.

  • You can be goth on your own mind, you don't need colorful hair, ..you don't need anyone to show you how, it all comes from inside your own mind, creativity, and expression. SMH.

  • You guys apparently don't know GOTH very well...coming from a GOTH girl myself...

  • i love the gothic style but im not a fan of the hairdye. my hair is like reddish brown naturally and i think it looks good but my goth friend tells me to dye it multiple colors :| i think i would def look retarted !

  • Goth isnt a look, its who u r. Its not careing about wat others think of u. Its about being your self and not trying to please others. The black is steriotypical, we can wear pink or purple and still b goth. U can call us different but we just dont try to plase others

  • Remember everyone there are many different branches in the gothic subculture and it isn't just black and white. You don't have to have black hair and wear black to be a goth but to regard someone as a "poser goth" is just silly. We are all expressing ourselves in our own individual way and there should really be no strict rules when choosing the goth lifestyle. Unless you are just a mopey teenager who's just stuck in a phase.

  • the girl with blue hair is so pretty!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Well I may not be goth but I have studied there hair and style. You don't need to dye your hair or dress in all black to be goth....lots of my friends are labeled as ''goth's'' when we are ''emo'' >.< but it doesn't matter, we are all human. Style or skin color shouldn't be what makes a person :3 If they believe they are goth's then okay. Learn people!

  • that chick with blue hair is hottt!

  • you look more gothIC then goth...

  • you know it doesnt make sense about people calling goths poser, its like saying ALL goths are posers which thier not, i am a goth myself, you could say a rivethead mixed with casual, you people just dont accept us yet

  • u can really have any style. notice that if u look u goth hair on the internet thers no exact style? just do wat u like :/

  • annd

  • What a bunch of wannabe posers..They're favorite bands are probably slipknot and korn...

  • @wolvesoftheearth LOL...I'm posing so hard that I pulled a muscle Xo

  • Oh my... I'm blonde and I consider myself goth!

Oh, I didn't know that I am such a poseur... thank you, expertvillage!

    Seriously, that was pathetic.

  • She wastes hours on making her hair look like something that's not that cool?

  • Expert village, you're either goth or you arent. There simple 3 seconds of a video that would make more sense than you.

  • yeah sure ok..(heavily ironic)..i'll keep my hair brown. hope it doesn't make me less goth :/

  • I'll just stick with my hair the way it is now.

I don't even know why this was reccomended for me to watch.

  • Gothic hair really can't be told to you by somebody else, because goth is all about what YOU think. My hair is naturally dark blonde/ light brown and curly. I love it, and I don't care what others say.

  • You dont need instructions to be goth.

  • How to create a gothic hairstyle: stop watching how-to videos and pick something spooky that makes you happy. The end.

  • Why do ElderGoths betray the scene? They must be posers! Emo Pride!!!

  • Is this video a joke?

  • come on guys it's GOTH not teenage emo/scene crap.

  • Her hair is NATUARALLY strawberry blonde or red?! HOW COULD SHE DO THAT TO HERSELF! Natural red is like the most awesome colour in the world! And she traded that in for her i-want-to-look-like-everybody-else-in-the-scene-look? bah!

  • @mskoschka I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE HER NATURAL HAIR!

  • Comment removed

  • Does the dark and funky colour hair apply to your pubic hair also?

  • ok so my hair is dark and yeah i am "goth" but its only dark because light colours dont suit me what a load of rubbish about having to have dark hair grrr

  • As a professional hairdresser, I'd like to say DO NOT DO THAT TO YOUR HAIR!

The way she does her hair kills it, and it's called overprocessed. which is why it looked like HAY!

If you want the funky colors, go to your local stylist, she'll hook you up.

  • fail

  • @delacyfans

    oh the irony....

  • I've been into the Goth scean for about ten years and for most part I just kept my hair it's natural colour which was blond. My hair is black at the moment as I fancied a change, but you dont have to black hair to look Goth.

  • well for goth you really don't have to have dark hair but if you feel that the dark hair makes you look more gothic then great! hite is another great colour or if you hae the really unaturally platnuim blonde hair that looks neat too but it really doesn't matter as lomng as you feel it looks gothic enough. Goth orginated for a group of people looong ago anyways it isn't people who don't conform thats punk

  • Well...coming from a real goth...one does not need to dye their hair any color to have goth hair. This is a rather common misconception.

  • Pretty chirpy sun loving "Goths"

  • I consider myself Goth only because I do not conform to society. Just think of it as a word for nonconformity and individuality. I know it may seem contradictive, because it's a name, but it represents all the things that we usually wouldn't embrace due to the fear of being ridiculed. The fashion even though subtle, is a statement of what I've noted previosly. If someone tells you that you need to dress a certain way, or listen to a specific music in order to be Goth it defeats the purpose.

  • i totally agree! i used to be one the many blones who wore holister, accesorized with perals and belted out justin beber songs. so i decided to rebel by dressing all black and listen to metal music. but then i noticed that i became another clone just of another group. so i toned my black down a little and put some femenin into it. and i also listen to alternative rock. that way i dont fit into any specific group. but you make a great point! being goth is a way to rebel! not follow!

  • It isn't always about rebellion either. It can be the comfort of being who you are without letting others get to you. Happiness is the best medicine for those who dissapoint. ;)

  • Coming from Dr. phil himself

  • Coming from someone who takes his anger out on everyone because of his own lonesomeness.

  • this is really just your "typical" gothic look... I think almost everyone who watched this failed to realize that lol. There are many different ways to express the goth look... this is just the average way.

this video was fun if anything :)

  • this video is wrong on so many lvls...

  • Comment removed

  • yah ....heh heh hmm heh heh heh hmm.

  • please tell me you realise how ridiculous and tragic these vids are...I watch them when I want to laugh at something pathetic!

  • You don't always have to have 'funky' colored hair. There are some goths with all colored hair

  • Comment removed

  • this is actually a disgrace to the "goth" style lol

  • well I've watched several of these expert village videos on how to be a goth and honestly its almost identical to the definition my 9 year old niece gave me of how she wanted to dress like a goth for halloween...so either a. she''s really advanced for a nine year old girl who lives in a small town; or more likely b. their definition is primitive, rigid, and lacks understanding of the sub-culture and all of its inherent diversity

  • Yeah, if you want to be a 'goth' for halloween this would be great. -_-

I mean, she acts like you need dark hair. To me red hair fits the most.

But it doesn't matter. People should just wear whatever they want. Don't follow these rules.

lol I'm gonna watch the other dumb 'how-to-be-goth' videos. xD

  • [sarcasm]Hot Topic goth. Really hardcore. [/sarcasm]

  • You are just so too mutch. Have you seen yourself in a mirror??

You realy need som help with your look.

  • No offense girls... but you have the mall goth look.. and bad hair lol

  • the different styles, punk goth emo etc, all are based in music, like for me, i started listening to certain bands then started dressing like those bands, so without music its hard to base your style somewhere.

  • uhm

    more punk

there's plenty of blonds, red heads, brunnettes

    how sterotypical of you!

  • A tutorial for posers! Fabulous!

Goth is a subculture based around appreciation of all aspects of Goth rock; what you're seeing here is just an optional aesthetic that tends to go along with members of the Goth subculture.

So if you have no clue who Peter Murphy is and don't appreciate Goth rock, don't call yourself Goth or say Goth is just a style.

  • if ur a goth, don't let somebody else try and tell you how to dress like it mate, thats sorta like following fashion in a way. just wear ur gothic look on the way that u feel comfortable with and dont follow any rule books lol. And if ur not really a goth at heart with a gothic mindset then maybe dont even bother with the look eh? just make sure it comes from a genuine place at the end of the day. conformity is foolishness! lol

  • are you serious? hahah

there are plenty of blonde goths =] goths with red hair.

  • poseurs

  • Not true. If you do enough damage to the folicles, the root of the hair where it begins to grow, you can permanently 'fry' your hair. I'm pretty sure I did it :P

  • It's really doesn't matter what you wear if you want to be goth. It really just differs on attitude. amyway "goth" has become such a trendy label how do people know how it's originally suppose to be?

  • Uhm, Goth is a German subculture based on morbid clothing choice/ appearance. Just saying, to clarify. :]

  • Like most subcultures, it was 'originally' about the music. Some people still feel that this is the case. Punk rockers, metal heads, even emo kids and scensters can focus on music and not fashion to be part of the subculture. Now, most people think that lacuna coil, evanescence or industrial are gothic music.

    They aren't, by the way.

  • i thought evanescence was gothic but the lyrics are kinda emoish i guess are within temptation gothic or not? cuz WT and evanescence r like <3

  • All i know, is NO ONE who has FRIED hair should be demonstrating how they did it, other than to teach others how NOT to do it. If you dye your hair, and then turn around and BLEACH it out, u can end up with PERMANENTLY fried hair, not to mention, your hair can fall out, or break off like twigs. Idiots.

  • shut up u wannabes XD

  • Im mexican/indian and my skin is like a tan color, but a bit darker..like half a shade.

But I bleached my hair when i was 11 going on 12, in my 6th grade year, and it looked pretty good, they were bright too.

  • i love dark hair, but i'd rather stay natural because i don't really care (blonde)

  • ummn why would you dye your blonde hair black just to bleach it? makes more sense to dye it blue then add the black.

  • their hair is gonna fall out.

  • so agree.!

  • she has manners...not awesome!!! :(

  • i am a goth... you pls tell me how to be normal?

  • This is not Gothic.

    Wannabes.

  • I agree total wannabes

  • This video is a joke.

I wonder if they have an equally lame "HOW TO BE A PREP" video

Possibly "HOW TO BE EMO" and "HOW TO BE A THUG" too.

    Am I missing anything?

-shakes head- Expert Village, you weren't that bad, you gave good tips here and there, but this just sucked. It's insulting, really.

By giving morons the inspiration to "go goth" it cheapens the whole thing.

It's just like the explosion of the "Emo/SCENE KIDS" everyone learns from a HOW TO and the originals stop being original.

  • And, this is what happens when someone thinks they know something based off false assumptions.

There is not just one 'look' to a goth's style.

Nice to know people don't even the time to look up what they're talking about.

  • Sigh.

  • Lol..

  • POSER!!!

    be original

  • agreed

  • Agreed!

  • i do like the red shirt shes wearing though.....

  • omg she ruined her hair!!! red hair is the best hair color NOT blue

  • Red dye is worse. If you keep using red your hair is more likely to fall out but if you want red use manic panic semi-permanent because it has a conditioner in it to protect your hair.

  • Pink is the BEST colour for hair its so striking. Red is common. Blue is nice though.

  • search alternative style.... Best fashion ever

  • the lady with blue nd black hair dosen't look too happy in this vid lol

  • wow youtube is full of some of the weirdest stuff but i think that ppl will not learn anything about dressing goth or emo or anything like that especially by watching a vid like this

  • shes gonna screw up her hair and damage it by dyeing it that much

  • Well it depends on the hair if she has thick hair it will be fine justt pieces will break off

  • I love how none of these people know what they're talking about. Seriously, goth is different for every individual. I bet these are the kind of people who think Hot Topic is the gothiest place ever because it sells cheaply made clothes with chains on them for forty dollars when you can get something sexy for five at a thrift store and add on actual chains at Ace Hardware for another two dollars.

  • I agree! They are teaching people how to be posers!

  • What was the small fat man called?

  • I LOOVE THESE GIRLS

  • i h8 life

  • "Marilyn Manson Cradle Of Filth, Deathstars, Type O Negative" aren't goth, they are "goth metal"

Completly different kinds of music. Gothic Metal is in fact not Goth. This music gets confused a lot cause its also very dark and because a lot of its fans wear black clothing to. Which makes them similar in look to Goths for the casual observer.

Goth bands: Bauhaus, The Sisters Of Mercy, Christian Death, The Cure, Siouxsie And The Banshees......(are some of the prominent Goth classics) :D

  • lol, Deathrock and Batcave is all I listen to.

  • that's nice!

  • hy are always these 'Tips' so stereotype?

Goth isn't about just wearing black and all that stuff. It's more then that; It's about the feeling, about the music, also about clothes.

If you are who you are, then it is okay. You don't need tips how to dress. Just dress how you want to dress.

  • Exactly the point I was expressing, untill these morons here on youtube attacked me on the subject.

  • Wow. Really?

  • POSERS YOU CANT GET ANY MORE DUM

  • spelled dumb not dum

  • someone has fried hair > . >

  • LOL XD true :P

    XX

  • Gothic is NOT a uniform, please understand that/ It's also anti-materialistic so buying what people say is good is not the right way to go. Be yourself, that's what matters at the end of the day. I'm a Goth from the early 1980's (and never really changed, lol) and people would refer me clother to death metaller or biker, but I'm a goth at the end of the day. Showing things on a budget is great, but you can get things from thrift/charity shops are the best :)

  • really, ive ran into so many sites where they TELL you what to buy, im into a lot of different styles, but im enamoured by the goth look. i just get inspired and do my own thing i dont take tips. i just wish most ppl would get that

  • omg this totally pathetic... if i am not wrong goth people hate the modern fashion that shows on TV etc. real goths dont follow any kind of stupid fashion dress/hair whatever it is. stupid posers...

  • u can have light hair.....

  • lol

  • if they are then prove it and tell me how they are and remeber you are the one that is judging them and labeling them and saying what it is goth and what is not

  • They arent showing what goth is really about.. its gothic victorian style clothing.. coresettes lace etc.. but they arent using the right clothing.. it looks cheap and tacky... and id never wear a bright red corsette like that.

  • well there is different styles of goth and they are only showing on style and also they might be on budget and yes you might not wear that red corsette but that is only because of your own personal taste

  • it's a joke right?

  • they look silly.. they are posers.. they know nothing about goth.. they look like wannabes

  • i cant find eny black dye but eny way my hair is really dark brown nearly black

  • my natural color is strawberry blonde too ^.^ but mine is also dyed black :)

  • and what about deathhawk? Everyone always says..long black hair...but what about the old days? Batcave and so? Deathhawk!

  • Yea!!! Yes!! The ORIGINAL "goth" Deathawks!!! Im so sick of the whole Evanescense look lol

  • Agreed! This new "goth" is really starting to get annoying lol

  • yes!! :( i wonder if anyone finds these videos useful :p ha

  • True very true.

  • I do have a question for you though. It's about the thing that says all people that shop at hot topic are mall goths. I've been shopping there for 5 years and I didn't hear about that till the other day when someone called me out on it. Is it true that if you do shop at hot topic, your automatically a poser? And that if you listen to fall out boy and that stuff, and listen to a lot of different music as well?

  • Well it all depends on whether you call yourself "goth" or not, If you go around doing so and you listen to such bands you will be seen as a poser by other "goths",specially old school deathrockers and ppl who listen to the real dark music from the 80's and such, society everything and everyone is label as this or that...

  • those bands arent "goth" .I guess theyre called "scene" or "emo" which isnt the same as "goth" .These days those types of clothing stores have gone quite mainstream and honestly about 10% of what is sold there can be called "goth". I personally dont believe in labeling myself or labeling others but in this modern

  • Thanks for the update! I know that those bands aren't goth lol. I usually make my own clothing anywho, The only reason I would go there is cause it's the only place to go where I live. I don't like to label myself either, but I do like people such as Emile Autumn, ASP, Hannah Fury, and such like that. Thank you for not getting horribly mad at me for asking. I have learned a lot about the goth culture, and I just needed to make sure what I knew was right. So thanks again.

  • Oh! sure no problem! I agree with you i hate labels, but ppl are always labeling each other lol.THats really cool doing your clothing is fun :p. personally i listen to different things some bands that arent really goth and plenty darkwave deathrock electronic and jazz or swing bands etc and I dont feel like i have to explain my self to others! Im sure you feel that way too! ;)

  • Yes I do feel that way. ^^ I listen to just about everything, darkwave, synth pop, techno, goth, rock, metal, and the like. Not a big fan of rap though lol. I love making my own stuff (that way I know it fits lol).

  • yeah! i love lots of synth pop and synth punk bands too! and techno as well i like going to raves a lot :p Lol ANd yes!!! DIY clothing ALWAYS fits better!!;) and looks better :p

  • This is very true =3

  • Expert village should stick with building and sewing stuff. This video is absolutely riduclolus

  • i think, that

there is no rules to being goth.

cause im sure not every goth just listens to just goth music.

you dont have to have dark hair.

  • im sorry... im not a goth but i know that goth is NOT about having a funky hair color 00:13 sec.......

idk someone please correct me if im wrong......

    (E).....

  • No, you're right. I've seen goths with normal blonde hair who look fine.

  • u hav 2 b who u r...

no one can tell u who or wat u should b...

being a goth speaks of individuality not conformity...

  • Wow. I love how they completely and totally blow everything we stand for totally out of the water.

    *vomits*

  • so what do you stand for then

  • Aw you think you're goth. Too bad you have no clue about proper grammar.

  • well there are few real kids in usa which is true. but there are a few.

  • stupid... every goth has to be itself ô.o

  • GREAT comment!

  • I love the name Constance!

  • - Jessica Rose, as in lonelygirl15 ? o.O

  • posers.

  • By the way how much do you think they get paid to butcher everything I stand for?

  • Well I have lost all will to live. What a ball buster.

  • this is stupid

  • goth is not a look, it's a state of mind, it's a culture. There is no set way to "look", you do what you want, you try to stay away from trends and dying your hair is ridiculous unless you really want to dye it. Oh and going to the Mall and shopping at "Goth in a box" doesn't help either cause you end up all wearing the same thing duh, conformity anyone? Try not worring so much about your hair and research what being "Goth" actually is.

    Jesus, kids today.....

  • your right its about individuality there is no standard for how "goth" is supposed to look it all just comes down to classification and lables in the end sadly

  • First and foremost, Goth is a musical subculture, though the mindset of goth is often shared by many goths. And goth is indeed a form of conforming. Conforming is inevitable, no one is unique. We only choose to what specifics we conform to.

  • so it when you are goth you need to color you hair black or funky ???? no way .just be yourself its works 4 me

  • What happened to the dark and super teased up hair that was part of the original goth look? Think Elvira - now that's a goth hair! haha.
