@namawapaya That's the valve closing. Some air squeaks through the diaphragm as it closes. My newer model - video coming soon - solves that issue. Although, from the comments it sounds like the light saber noise is some people's favorite part.

@monthofthebull I would say that that depends on what you shoot. The tighter the fit, the more accuracy you get. Potatos are very accurate. Tomatoes wabble around in the barrel a bit and are not quite as accuarate. You get a good scatter pattern with water, so you are going to hit anything you point it in the general direction of. If you want increased accuracy you can check my laser guided marshmallow video for another tip.

@MrTastytomatoes That is the sound of the sprinkler valve closing. As you will see in my next video, the valve has gotten louder over the years and now makes a more high-pitched squeak. My spud gun was 9 feet long and used ignited gas. I balled up newspaper, made a walmart bag sleeve (as newspaper soaked up the aerosol) and dropped 500 paintballs down it. added another ball of newspaper and fired away. painted the whole side of my house in one shot. awesome!

Try to file the tip of the barrel on the inside, so that the projectile fits very tight in the barrel. You will have a lot more power.

@chuvak1 Mine is a combustion spud gun so it just has a BBQ igniter. For water I use several plastic bags for wadding keep the water out of the chamber. It fits a C-Battery perfectly & will put one right thew a phone book got a video posted. I like yours a lot & am thinking about building one I like how I can just use my air compressor for fuel.

no wat u do is take a big pece of pvc pipe put threads on each end put a cap with threads on the back with a bbq igniter with jb weld holding it in get a longer smaller peice with threads on one end stab a patato with the threaded end screw it on to the big peice unscrew the back peice spray a bunch of wd 40 or somthin for fule ( i know it seems like a good idea to use propain or gas but its not it just blows up so dont use tht unles its made of steel) screw the back peice on & hit the igntr

@cody5405 That, of course is a totally different concept. These conbustion guns are also lot of fun. The first Potato gun I built was as you discribed. The problem with them is that the cycle time is much longer with all the un-capping and spraying. Also, the chamber starts to get pretty gummed up and the lighter stops working after a while. With the pneumatic version you get faster cycle time, less maintenance, more control over the charge. Plus, try shooting water in a conbustion gun.
