thanks for this. Really informative. I have one major question. For the life of me I can not figure out why I keep dying while using this weapon. I don't mean when I am in close proximity to an enemy and I kill them. I mean, I have shot the digger and it goes 3-7 feet - no one is there to detonate it - it just blows up and then I am dead. I know you die if you shoot it and a teammate is in front of you, you get blow back. I'm just talking about when I am alone. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

This helped a lot. I went 28-4 in Trenches and it was primarily because of the digger, gahh i wish i could've recorded it. People were just letting me have it whenever it respawned cause I was just on fire that night, thanks a lot man!

The Digger perfect active reload is like the saw off one, it makes the reload faster but no increase of damage. I found it on a guide I bought.

The guide for Gears 3 says that it's active gives a 10% damage boost, but from personal experience, it seems to make it go slightly faster through the ground. Might just be me though.

If only I watched this when they had the playlist "can you dig it?" man I would owned, I did alright but most of my kills was with the boltok to finish the off cuz the explosion of the digger would damage them then they rolled out in the distance and pop yo heads gone, any tutorials on other weapons would be great

This was a great tutorial. Just watching your situational use of the digger helped me understand the weapon much better.

I think the one thing you missed are the very basics - what causes the digger to pop out of the ground? I initially had a hard time wrapping my head around this. But after watching the video and reading the comments, it seems that it's caused either by proximity to an enemy, or by hitting a certain type of wall. Is that right?

@SrayerCA yes the Digger is proximity based, although after traveling for awhile it automatically pops up after like 7 seconds of traveling

Great video, Skyllus (and team). I'm enjoying this series and it's helping me quite a bit. It's not rocket science by any means, but I just can't play as much as most folks so getting the cliff notes like these guides provide makes a world of difference.

I wonder if the active makes a larger blast radius without expanding the "trigger" radius?

Yeah, I noticed how the Digger does better at mid ranges since people see them coming from a mile away when fired from afar. I also noticed that the shorter the time that the digger spends underground, the higher the chance that you'll hit your mark, since people are given less time to notice a shot coming. Just from my experience, that is.

i really like how epic made it so that the sawed off gibs at the same range as the gnasher. if u perfect active reload the gnasher with a perfect head/body shot, and u shoot the sawed off somewhere near their body. yeah, its totally the same range then

@WarpedEl3ment Proximity detonated - seems like it just barely misses quite a bit. If you fire it over someones head and it lands right behind them it usually won't detonate.

one thing that i didn't hear you say, but you did use quite a bit, is that when you are shooting and you dont need to go under cover, you need to lob the digger into the air and land it as close to their feet as possible, so they have a lot less time to react,,,, excellent vid

It will actually travel through the ceiling and explode above. You have to use the Tac/Com to see where the weapon spawn is so you can know where to shoot it though.

perfect active reloads on the digger cause it to pop up and explode faster, and if you directly impact someone with an active it will explode on contact, thats what it does.

its not incresed speed, he confirmed that... maybe faster pop up? or a wider kill radius on the explosion (but not bigger detection radius), both just mean they have to react faster.

Great video. This is how I use the digger too. I didn't know some of those angles though. Like Skyllus said, always have a target in mind when you fire the digger. I do this and I get a lot of kills with it.

@111843b Probably saw me hit the D-Pad between actions - the gun switches after a wallbounce completes. Basically just hitting the D-Pad real quickly after I tap A and start sliding since I don't need to be moving the left stick.
