  • The tune that starts around 3:00 with the trombones/low brass, what's that tune/piece called?

  • The Eyes of Texas

  • Actually, it's "The March of The Longhorns", which runs from 2:26 to 3:35. The melody at 3:00 shares the motif of

"The Eyes of Texas", but it is a different song. You can hear the announcer say it.

  • Thank you~

  • no the Eyes of Texas. It's the second half of March of the Longhorns

  • @Perryownsyou It is the Trio to a song called "March of the Longhorns" It isn't a new song, just the second part.

  • BUFFS, BUFFS.... BUFFS EAT SH*T!!!

  • I love the Longhorn Band and Love to watch them, screw goin to the bathroom at half-time, I can do that after their show. LOL I don't ever miss it. The aggies problem is they almost always dothe same tired ass crap everytime, but don't get me wrong, they are a very good band and hve to give 'em props on their execution of movement. Hook'em!!

  • I watched the TX Band perform in the Rose Bowl against us in Vince's coming out party, the 1st Rose Bowl. The TX band is solid - fun to watch. So quit arguing about stupid stuff. Its a good band, if you say they aren't you are just a hater.

  • this is badass. i can't wait to do it :) !

  • Love the vids! Watched every one! Please keep them coming. Fighting Tiger Marching Band from LSU is pretty BA. And stop fighting! Who cares if its stupid or boring! There is a small demographic of people who ENJOY watching marching bands perform! I was in wind ensemble myself because my school only had intramural sports. But we had the 70s costumes with the big puffball hats!

  • This is so neat. I could watch this over and over. I love how they did the different songs, especially the way they stopped and restarted during "March Grandioso." The "Eyes of Texas" is just pretty. It makes me wish that I went to UT!

Of course my high school didn't have a band because all 17 boys played football and there wasn't enough kids left to have a band.

  • Yall can say what you want about Ohio State and that crap aggie band but Shotgun Texas is awesome looking

  • Sure.... whatever you say....

    Hook 'Em Horns!

  • longhorns fo eva hook em horns

  • As a former LHB member, I will not disagree that the aggies are VERY good at what they do. But the styles are two very different ones. I'm not saying the Aggie Band isn't good, I'm just saying they have a different style. Give the LHB their typical drunken week, and we will, as always, beat the Aggie band at halftime. Even if you do beat us in the actual game...BOO!!

  • Hook 'Em Horns!

  • LOL!!! This is so funny! Are you guys seriously arguing about who has the best college marching band? That is the dorkiest thing I have ever heard! I was in the LHB for two years and even I think that arguing about marching bands is stupid.

  • Great video---makes me look forward to joining!!

  • Whatever...Band is gay...except the UT band. Hook 'Em!

  • Hey UTbone, thanks for posting this. It's been 20 years since I marched with LHB and it's nice to see all the old traditions still going strong. Hook'em - LHABer86

  • Oh you people shut up. We all know that the Goin' Band from Raiderland is better than any other band today. We perform at least 4 different styles of marching, we play better music than everyone, we're just plain bigger than you all are, we created the circle drill, and plus...we have the coolest director ever. Go Anderson. That's all that I have to say.

  • um ok well then.... good for you. I'm happy that you enjoy the Goin' Band so much enough to talk about them on here in comparison to all other bands in the nation.

  • It's not just on here, hell...I'll do it in person also.

  • Is one of your many styles of marching 8 to 5? Well, that was invented at Ohio State, so who really cares if you invented the circle drill. You're bigger. Again, who cares? At OSU about 200 kids are cut from the band every year and that is what keeps the quality of the band high--being bigger doesn't make your band better, it makes them bigger. Just relax and stop talking shit about other bands especially since your band is pretty mediocre to begin with.

  • Mediocre? WTF? I highly disagree with you on that one. How can you call one of the winners of the Sudler Trophy a "mediocre" band? We are a very well respected band in case you didn't know. I never said that we created 8 to 5 marching, I said that we created circle drills. As for OSU, I really don't care if they cut 200 or 300 people out of there band.

  • To Continue what I was saying...FYI, I did't talk shit about any band in my original post. I talked about the goin' band. Apparently the Goin' Band must be doing something good to have such high numbers of people coming to join.

  • As far as circle drills--I said that I didn't care because other bands have created things of much more significance (like 8 to 5 marching). Also, I can call a winner of the Sudler Trophy mediocre because each band can win it only once and 9 Big Ten schools have already won it (Texas Tech was the 18th school to win). Everyone gets the Sudler, it's not that big of a deal--someday even USC and Wisconsin (who are both terrible) will win the award.

  • You said that the "Goin' Band" was "better than any other band today". FYI, this is a video about the Longhorn Band so why don't we talk about the video rather than making riduculous statements like that. You can't back any of that up so just don't say it.

  • Yes I can back it up. There are videos, paper documents, and other things. I'm through talking about this because this has seriously gone way to far. Honestly I didn't mean for it to get out of control. If Tech is mediocre, then so is evey other marching banding band out there.I'm finished.

  • This is completely subjective so it's idiotic for you to make statements like you're way better than anyone else. When you find a "paper document" that conclusively proves the superiority of the Goin' Band over every other band in the country then I'll start taking what you say seriously. Until then, I'm glad you're finished cause now I don't have to read your asinine responses. It's been fun.

  • you can say whatever you want about how "good" the Aggie band is, but I severely doubt that have half as much fun marching and rewatching their shows like the Longhorn Band does. besides, their style of marching is different from ours, so in the end, it's just a matter of preference over styles.

  • It's funny that this arrangement of March Grandioso was actually Texas Tech's first...hmm. I do have to say that the Aggie band can march any Texas school into the ground. Marching.... that's all they do. You just can't hear them.

  • Actully there's only one arrangement of March Grandioso... and thats the original one composed by Roland Seitz. And I don't see how its funny that Texas Tech then started playing the march before Texas. And I don't know about you, but I can hear the aggie band just fine during halftime.

  • @zitpit I didn't know marching in straight lines the whole time was considered marching someone into the ground...

  • Awesome!!

  • correct me if I'm wrong, but girls aren't allowed in the aggie band. that's sweet! sexism at it's best!

  • Actually they are.

  • Yes you are wrong, girls currently are allowed in the aggie band. Although that wasn't the case back when A&M wasn't coed university obviously.

  • Cherrygummy is right. You want to see halftime marching at it's finest, watch a Fightin' Texas Aggie band halftime show.

  • Check out A&M's marching band. Now that is something.

  • Yeah, that's "something" allright...looks like 1942...in Berlin.

  • Objectively, one of the most colorful and well-known bands in the country. Their performances are always crisp and entertaining. Wish the networks would let us see the half-time shows of all of the bands like they used too a few years ago.

  • Yawn....but their forms are quite nice and clean...but..yawn...

  • the comment was left as a joke for a Texas friend of mine on the drumline to see, thanks anyways

  • that's pretty much a rip off of LSU's pregame!

  • what a dumb comment...
