  • being alone sucks, but maybe its better, it does have its advantages but more disadvantages than good..thanx for the comment and for kicking my ass..i need that lately..pete

  • My high school grad night at Worlds of Fun amusement park. I saw Orleans do this song, and my heart just soared! An unforgettable time.

  • JUST MISSED!!! "Love Takes Time" just missed making the Billboard's Hot Top 10 chart; it peaked at No. 11 and spent a total of 15 weeks in the Hot Top 100 in 1979!!!

  • IT SURE DOES...AND TAKES SOME HEARTBREAK SOMETIMES ALONG THE WAY..THATS THE DOWNFALL OF love...DAMN..DAMN..DAMN..BUT THERE IS SOMEONE OUT THERE FOR ALL OF US SINGLE FOLK,...

  • @rexrockandroll Not always! Sometimes we have to face the hard facts that at times we are better off alone!

  • This song is true!! Just divorcing and this is a great song to play while i'm packing up my stuff to leave!!

  • I wish K- Tel Records were still around.....I guess that's Now That's Music. Not the same. I miss the good ole days.

  • me time skincarexpro

  • This music is fabulous, it's pleasant and brings back great memories as a young girl.

  • OMG Love the 70's, I was 14 when this song came out, went out with a wonderful Jr High school Sweet heart name Elaine. Every time I hear this song it reminds me of her. What a great song and decade.....God if I could only go back in time

  • I graduated from high school in june, 1979. Time was starting to fly for me and it has been flying ever since. The way the drums sound at the beginning remind me of that feeling of excitement of things really starting to move along.

  • ANOTHER TEARJERKER NOT ONLY FROM THE PRESENT TIME BUT FROM MY DISTANT PAST.DAMN ..DAMN....DAMN....MY PROBLEM IS THAT I LET THINGS TAKE TOO MUCH TIME AND BY THE TIME I TRIED AGAIN, IT WAS TOO DAMNED LATE..THAT HAS HAPPENED IN THE LAST YR ALSO AND HAS DEALT ME FOR A RADICAL LOSS..DAMN....BUT HAVE TO MOVE ON AND CONQUER ALL THAT LIFE HAS TO OFFER...X0..thanx.....

  • @rexrockandroll I think we can all relate to some extent or so. Keep moving on. :)

  • What a great song....going through a divorce is tough, but this tune gives me hope! :)

  • Heard this on the way home from work....OMG...what a feeling came over me...had to add it to my favorites...what a great feeling...thanx for the post!!!

  • great time to be a kid.

  • Oh my god. I had forgotten all about this song. It never ceases to amaze me what I find on youtube. Thanks for posting this.

  • Memories.........

  • @dewaynecullen - what a great story! I had a similar experience when I was 13, also at a community pool! Riverside CA, summer 1972 and the song on the radio was Brandy (You're A Fine Girl) Sadly, my new friend Debbie and I only had ONE magical day together. But I never forgot.

Years later I just enjoyed the heck out of this Orleans song.

  • @preorganizedchaos well, thanks to Facebook - we ARE connected once more. I guess Facebook friendship will have to do. But we often talk about that particular summer in a small East Tennessee town. The kind of town where people actually walked "downtown" and ate lunch at the local drug store:) As a famous author once wrote - "Days that are gone with the wind".

  • Great tune!

  • For some ppl...it takes way too long...:)

  • ☮ we were here ☮

  • @dewaynecullen...thanks for sharing that...it was great!...funny how a song can do that to us

  • What a CLASSIC song you can UNDERSTAND every word! Thanks for a blast from the past ! Orleans will always be one of my # 1 Groups growing up!

  • Long live John Hall and the Orleans

  • something about this song really tugs at my emotions cant put my finger on it

..I was 11 when this song came out but it made a really big impression on me..quite a little gem!

  • Saw the All Star Band tonight in Charleston. The Hoppen boys are still kick ass! The were joined by Robbie Dupree, David Peck from Ambrosia, John Ford Coley and John Cafferty. It was a great show! Mr. Hoppen was still on time and tune! Thanks for the memories!

  • '79 we just moved into our new home i was in my senior high, adjusting with the neighborhood when i saw this pretty girl pass by our house she was so popular back then and just about the same time my sister turned on the radio with this song playing whew.. eventually she became my girl and this song our theme the boys over their was so pissed off with me.. haha sure darn miss that girl ..

  • I'm her because I'm looking for the best comments. I thought this was a Triumph song

  • Summer of 1979 was awesome. I was 13. This was one of the songs I remember most!

  • Orleans hit #11 in Billboard, 5-26-79. John Hall WASN'T lead singer. He and his wife Johanna, wrote 'Dance with me', and 'Still the one. God bless ya. for postin' it. Thanx! Larry Hoppen has always been the lead singer.

  • I was 15 in 79 and I had the K - Tel Gold Rush 79 album. 79 was great year.

    Thanks for posting!!!!

  • thank ....god..for..the late 60s..till..now..theres been so many great songs....i love going back ......when im in a piece of mind

  • This has always been my Favorite song - ever. This should be played more on the 70's music stations. I sent an email to Larry Hoppen for a copy - no reply. I would love to frame a single and display it in my home. Thank you for posting the song.

  • God, I love soft rock! One of my faves.

  • This is a great song! It always puts me in such a good mood!

  • The 70's were by far the best decade in music, but sadly music producers have forgotten that. All the crap nowadays like Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez makes you realize what great music this is.

  • OMG, had several K-Tel albums. Wish I still had them. Thank goodness for YouTube!

  • @jkw2000ss Yes I had Gold Rush '79 Vols 1 and 2..... and I think this was one 1. After more than 30 years this song still gives me a "rush" ;)

  • I was 9 years old back in 1979. And I can remember buying K-Tel's Gold Rush '79 Volumes 1 and 2 (I think this song was on Vol. 1) at my local K-Mart on vinyl. I felt so grown up listening to such great music including this one. Hearing it again instantly erases 30 years. Thank you for posting!

  • Great memories !

  • Great tune. Once upon time music was made with first priority being how it would sound on radio. Songs like this were not made by hyped superstars/celebrities, yet anyone who heard these songs when they were new and hears them again decades later remembers that earlier joy/excitement of first listen. Artists of today may sell more units and make more money and that makes sense for music industry financially but does anyone feel any lasting connection to their songs years later? Highly doubtful.

  • Love this song...almost forgot it existed until I heard it on Music Choice. Definately my favorite song from Orleans. Thanks for bringing back some great memories.

  • This is a great song. I moved with my family from Cape Cod to Tucson Arizona and lived out there in the late 70's and early 80's when I was a little kid and remember hearing this song on the radio. It brings back cool memories of my childhood in Tucson. Nowadays I live in Wisconsin and sure do miss it there especially the weather. Also my thoughts and prayers are with those in Tucson.

  • Great God . . . the summer of '79. Mary and I were twelve years old and in the seventh grade, out for the summer. This song played at the community pool in our small town on July 4th. She and I grew up on the same block but I never noticed her until that day. This song played while we were at the snack bar as she caught my eye. That afternoon we became boyfriend/girlfriend and shared the rest of the summer. Later that year she moved away:( My first heart ache. But I'll always remember . . Mary.

  • Amen.

  • Amen.

  • @dewaynecullen ... that is such a touching story... :)

  • @dewaynecullen Songs set the stage where dreams play out.

  • @dewaynecullen music is magic, life is fleeting

  • @dewaynecullen Thanks for sharing such a great story for a great song. I was 24 at the time and this was my "Miami" song. My story is too long to relate ....but I still remember and smile :-)

  • ... and of course Boz Scaggs!

  • Great song!

  • this doesn't sound like a live recording to me.

  • @jasonwheel It's not live, I actually have the album, however it is a good studio version

  • I'm a 19 year old male, and I have to say, I'm an all around kind of music guy. May it be Rap, Hip-hop, Pop, Alternative Rock, Rock n' Roll...etc etc. But Orleans, is by far my most favorite band of all-time. Their music is so pure, fun, and just a joy to listen to. It's more musical than any music that could be made in the the present day. I envy you characters who got to live in this decade of music. Also, the 80's we're amazing too!

  • @Drock1891 If you like this, check out Deja Vu "Dance" Canadian Pop/rock and songs by Michel Pagliero (What the Hell I Got etc) and Ray Materick (Linda Put the Coffee On).

  • This is one of my favorite songs of all time! It always motivates me because it's so darn positive!

  • @LandserV i agree. hard to listen to this song and not feel good IMO.

  • I love the music of the 70's!

  • thank you icbm100s great song i found this on super hits of the 70's. wasn't there a different line up on the lp this came from. my top 40 book says john hall and jerry marotta left in 1977. Did the original line up reunite?

  • It's great to listen to songs that make you happy! I didn't buy an Orleans Greatest Hits CD until they made one that included "Love Take Time"!

  • even I remember this one

  • Summer of '79- Good Times!

  • its like a progressive time capsule of what we were feeling and going through....i remember this song as an exact picture of what i was experiencing back then....it still envokes warm feelings...they are the best

  • @albinoporchmonkey I was in high school in the 80's but as I have grown older I appreciate the 70's more.I also have that same warm feeling from the 70's that you do.

  • Such a happy song! I remember when I was growing up in the 60s and my dad would criticize what I listened to by saying "they don't make music like they used to." Well, now here I am in my mid 50s, listening to songs like this, thinking "they don't make music like they used to!"

  • This song just never gets old its a classic thanks for the post!

  • hey Lane;-)

  • it sure is hard to believe how fast time has went by now were the middle aged and the older people, and lastly the peanut famer was the worst president in modern history,30 years ago rite now was my senior year of h/s,those were the best years ever, the keggers, weed, music, the runaways, brownsville station, molly hatchet, reo speedwagon,bto...ect...you get the pic...tonylfriend...

  • @tlfrend JImmy Carter was a great guy, he just was too honest for politics. I think history will show that the worst president in modern history was GW Bush... But lets have a kegger, get some weed and enjoy the music! Peace.

  • no,no,no,i was around then he was and always will be the worst president in our modern times, our miltary was in shambles then, people waited in line to buy gas,he could'nt get our people out of iran the 52 hostages they laughed at him just like they are doing now over barrack president was a great man and i would have voted for him again,i would have rather had hilliary than this bananna eatin tree monkey that we are stuck with now,i'm poor but was much better under pres.g.w.bush,sincerly..tlf..

  • @tlfrend

"banana eatin tree monkey?" Please...don't insult monkeys by comparing them to Obama.

  • @tlfrend: President Bush was among the best - and continues to proven so. Get your head out of the weeds!

  • ...for my squirrel...who definitely thought it was a game....now what do i do...

  • A fantastic song. Brings back some good memories of 1979.

    Thank you for posting!!

  • This is one of those songs you'd occasionally hear after it became a hit, but not anymore. Oldies and classic hits need to consider adding this to their playlists if they haven't already done so. If they can paly "Still The One" and "Dance With Me", they sure as hell can play this one too! One of the more fond memories from when I started 'immersing' myself into the tunes of the day.

  • @swmavers Oh, yes !

  • Oh , yes !

  • Never hear this one on the radio! Thanks for adding. One of my faves from 79

  • I always liked this band.Even though my favorite is the heavier prog-rock bands such as Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Rush and Kansas, Orleans always had a top notch production going on with all their albums.Great music from this band.Thank you.

  • love is hard to find look at me I am young, bald, fat and without any money

  • Are you George Costanza?

  • excellent

    thanks for share

  • Memories of 1980

  • Best song Orleans ever put out. Its hard to find that song anywhere, because they don't ply it on the radio, they Still the One and Dance with me...which I like both of those songs as well, but this one is defenitely my favorite from them.

  • its hard to find, but once we find it, its usually easy to work out and really fall in love with the perfect person---if there is such a person for any of us...i know i thought i had the perfect one my x wife, laura..but it didnt end up like that..but in last 7 yrs, have met a few i thought were the 'one'...i miss you renee, elayne...you two ladies changed my life forever in all ways, even though we never really had a chance at long time love...thanx anyway for showing me the way..love you both.

  • romantic idiot...
