@MrMurraypants Astrophysics is the more advanced form of astronomy. Historically, astronomy was mostly observational and data collecting work (and some physics/math). Astrophysics involves more hardcore advanced math/physics. Nowadays, the two professions are mostly interchangeable. I was going to declare as an astrophysics major before I switched to English/Philosophy. I realized before it was too late that you truly need to be a mathematical genius, or close to it, to be an astrophysicist.
I go to ASU, its too bad it has a party rep because a lot of its educational efforts (IE origins symposiums, guest like richard dawkin, stephen hawkins, steven pinker) are greatly over looked by future and current students. It is truly a shame.

I currently graduated from UCSB and yeah, I used to get annoyed with the reputation of my school, but at least it has a reputation, it's a conversation starter. :) The people are so relax and I'm sure the Isla Vista scene has so much to do with it. There's a certain freedom that come from going to a "party school", you're away from home! So for those of you who feel bad about your schools rep, just enjoy it while you can, because when you go back home you won't have that anymore.

I lived in Iowa City, where the University of Iowa is located. I think the U of I ranked #4 this year. I once heard that Iowa City has more bars located within 2 miles of campus than any other college -- over 50 bars within 2 miles -- it's crazy and it's a party town every night. So if you're looking for a decent university in a pretty cool liberal town and you like drinking (and/or really like weed), I recommend that the U of I would be an excellent choice for your education. Go Hawks! :)
