In hopes of such, many of them named their child many related names (a7med, mu7amad, 7amud, etc). When this specific Muhammad came, the Jews actually thought he was Eliyahu - until later we did not accept him but as a man with his own views. We didnt regard him as a prophet, nor as a false prophet. Just one who taught the One God to the Arabs.
