vw's are at home in the snow. ive never gotten stuck in my 96 trek, comes in handy going to friends houses during snow storms...cant wait to get a new vw (hopefully a gti mkv)
This looked like it was fun, GTI's are nice but this is nothing a good driver cant do in any car. I have done this in a '01 Grand Am, '78 Celica, trucks and many other cars. Nice driving but I am not too impressed. LOL
Traction control on these cars isn't the most agressive sysetm... it will let you spin a good amount before it kicks in, and will even let you keep on spinning a limited amount in snow. As far as stability goes, ESP does help a good amount in the snow by just keeping you pointed in the direction you steer. It will use the brakes to put you INTO a slide, for example, to keep you heading where you want if you steer tighter that the car wants to go.
I want to have that snow here in Houston. Whooo.

Do you have your summer tires on?
A7XHellBlaze 2 years ago
Back when I made this video I had Continental all season tires. I just replaced them with a set of Dunlap Winter Sport 3D tires and they're great!
