@pbplaya5: Because the Blue Angels are hot dogs and the T-Birds are less so. Wearing the 02 mask serves two purposes at low altitude, 1) Bird strike protection to the face, it's better than nothing. 2) Face protection in case you have to eject. It is Air Force regs to have at least the clear blast-shield down during take-off, low level maneuvering, and landing. The 02 mask might make for better audio sound during radio communications. You see, in the Air Force, it's cool to follow the rules.

The Thunderbirds wear G-suits because they fly a jet that can snap a lot more G's than the F/A-18, in the F-16. The F-16 will do 10G's easily. The F/A-18 does a bout 8 before the G-limiter kicks in. The inducement of G's is also a lot faster in the F-16, which can turn quite a bit tighter, and roll much faster, than the F/A-18. So the Blue Angels can all them sissies in G-suits (which they actually don't), but I call them: Flying a better jet.

This is wrong information. The Blue Angels do not wear G-suits because they fly the F/A-18, which you correctly state; however, it's not because the plane is not as maneuverable. On the contrary, it is because the stick is in the middle, between the pilot's legs. For the F-16, the stick is on the right side of the cockpit. The G-suit does not cause a disturbance in control of the plane for the F-16 in this case, where for the F/A-18, it could cause a crash (because it is in the middle).
