@CRCody Hahah why? you were being a total prick and you were wrong :p that dude was being nice to you even after you made fun of him and then you continued to be a jerk. And one thing that really bugged me is when you said you need to know how to spell word. He totally did spell it right, he just didn't spell the right. That totally cancels out your lame comment -.- but I do like you because you posted this beautiful song by this amazing band (:
honestly, who in Gods great universe would dislike this song? this song is brilliant, its more than just sound, its an insane feeling it gives you inside,i dont know, maybe its different for everyone, but for me, not to sound soft, but its just magical, i don't know how Jesse does it but he has a way of figuring me out and bringing out my inner thoughts in his music and every verse gives me the chills. for those who dont like this music, im not mad, just sorry you dont get to feel what i feel
@miserableoutcast They've said in interviews that a lot of these songs probably would have been on D&G (you can hear trace elements in a couple D&G songs -Luca and Sowing Season especially - and Fork & Knife, but they felt like people getting early and unfinished versions tainted them a bit. There's been a long standing rumor that they'll be a part of a remastered B-sides collection, but I doubt that will ever happen. Unless they break up soon (which is also rumored).
Oh and it was well AFTER Deja Entendu..... Idiots! Pre-Your Favorite Weapon was Lacey and the guy from TBS stringing a beat before their fall out. The very first demos from brand new were more poppy than YFW and were not very good...
Ughh it had nothing to do with not wanting to use them. If some of you true fans may recall, Brand New was featured on the front cover of AP as they were one of the most anticipated albums being released in the upcoming months...2005? CD go thrown out, Jesse said in an Interview that they just decided this wasnt what they wanted to sell for $15-20 and they did not to release it. Couple songs got redefined for TDAGARIM, Fork and Knife came out as a single. FOYD R.I.P.
Fight Off Your Demons should be their next record, and they must use this song, the other demos I'm not all that crazy about, their good, but something about this song. Has so much potential. I just freaking love it.
@GB4ManU7fan, agreed.. that's my favorite part :].. That whole last verse is great.. I love the part "Reserve my golden crown while I am cursed to walk the earth for a millenia. I know I deserve worse but it terrifies me and I can't take it anymore."
@blink182fan10 fasle. they were going to be on The Devil and God but got leaked so teh ysaid fcuk that. Learn about a band before you post stupid shit online.
@lilbabyworden When I said "From your favourite weapon" I was talking about a reference to The Smiths made by Brand New in the song 'Mix Tape' from the album 'Your favourite weapon' and they weren't going to be on Devil and God. They were going to be on an album called Fight off your demons, which never got released coz it got leaked, so they wrote all knew stuff, and called the album which DID get released The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me. Now who's posting stupid shit?
This does sound loads, in the vocal melody/drums/guitar riffs, like The Smiths. And let's face, Brand New have cited The Smiths by name in lyrics before + Jesse, when he plays in England, tapes "Hi Moz" to his guitar.
They are massive fans.
And good on them for it, both mindblowingly good bands.
@CRCody that actually made quite a bit of sense. the album was technically unreleased and he said before your favorite weapon, however it wasn't true.
yeah, it was never released. it was leaked. but what that person said really made no sense if you actually try to read it. it wasn't an album yet. they were just demos.
@CRCody I am just now seeing this convo. This all is true. It was leaked. They did start working on some of these songs very early in their career. The album that these demos were gonna turn into was going to be the follow up album to deja entendu. It was not gonna as a whole be pre your favorite weapon. Think about the lyrics on some of these songs, and the music. They were not on that level pre your favorite weapon. also some of these songs still were adapted and used in the devil and god.
@johnofuckinprea Dude listen to these tracks, there's no way this is from before YFW
Anyways it's common knowledge these are leaked demos from the Devil and God sessions, they leaked and the band recorded new songs because they didn't want to use the leaked ones, although they did end up using 2 which became Sowing Season and Luca
@johnhensey they never officially released them. they never called them fight off your demons. thats what everyone called them. brand new will never officially release them. they were pissed about it. although untitled 02 is one of their best.
@johnofuckinprea fightofyourdemons was the album that was supposed to be released instead of devil and god. unfortunately it got leaked so they only kept a couple songs and made a couple different ones. Personally I love this fucking album.
I absolutely love this song! Even though I love Brand New, to me this just isn't Brand New. This song is something entriely different that no other band or artist could ever replicate. And although I will always appreciate what these guys put out, if there were more songs like this in their future then that album would be a world phenomenon. But who knows, maybe that's just this guys opinion.
Hmm... Maybe give me a specific exemple for a song by the Smith's. Don't get me wrong, I like the Smith's and Morrissey is great and I can see where Jesse Lacy gathered most of his vocal inspiration, but the song as a whole really isn't anything like the Smith's. I stand by what I originally said. This song will never be beaten nor will any other artist (past or present) come close, maybe not even Brand New again. I mean they are a fantastic band, but this song is just so unique in every way.
Lyrically, instrumentally, and vocally. Not saying it was just a fluke, but damn! I just think it's one of a kind. Ok, I'll shut up now. I'm done shoving my opinion down your throat, sorry.
i downloaded this accidentily under the title of Millstone. But upon purchasing the album discovered it was not. turns out to be one of my fav tracks, very Smiths/ Morrisey sounding.
@CRCody Um, that kind of is the title of the song, ass hole

This sounds exactly like The Smiths. It's amazing how much Jesse can make his voice sound like Morrisey.

Oh my goodness I can hear The Smith's in his voice. Isn't it amazing to be able to hear where a band's inspiration comes from?

If the way he speeds up the lyrics on 3:40 doesn't remind you of The Smiths, then something is horribly wrong with your ears.
