The host of this show is just sensationally stupid and arrogant and I, personally, noticed that people here are not that polite as they are in the US. Just take his question, whether "I look to you" is proper English! I always hated how awkward he is.

They are not the only ones, but it's normal to use simultaneous translation on a live show. :)

However Germans tend to translate everything. And worse they do it incorrectly a lot of times. Interviews/Movies/etc are rarely shown in their original language. That's why Germans speak poorly english. Go to northern european countries. You'll see most ppl there speak proper engl not least because they do not sync everything. It's an easy way to educate your people :]

But I admit in some other countries the sync is so bad it messes up the the whole movie. Poland e.g. Gosh that was horrific!!

@Bluetenstaub I still can't see anything wrong with dubbing films and translating English into German since this was German TV. The reasons that films are not dubbed into Nordic languages is down to cost. The market is simply to small. At least Germans learn proper English grammar in school, something very much amiss in the UK.

I totally agree with you :) I am not against dubbing per se. Not at all. But it is only as good as the budget allows. Movies are well done most of the time. Dubbed Documentaries and Intervies on the other hand too often fall short of the original. Sometimes the content gets totally twisted around. And since I am German it bothers me.

You're right about the the cost question. However don't forget the educational aspect.

You're exactly right. I am living in Berlin and they dub EVERYTHING...even reality shows on MTV get dubbed. I lived in Stockholm and there everythign is subtitled so Swedes speak perfect English.

Wrong on so many levels.

1. He admits his English isn' t prefect and yet he still questions it.

2. He doesn't apprecaite the poetic nature of songs and their titles.

I think that with proper vocal rehabilitation and the right vocal coach she's going to be fine, but it will take time. Some of the greatest popular vocalists of our time have gone through traumas that stopped them from singing entirely until they relearned the anatomy of their instrument and how to use it without harming it; Dame Shirley Bassey and Celine Dion come to mind, and these are two healthy women. That Whitney is even alive, let alone able to sing a single note is no small feat.

it has anything to do with her being impolite and everything to do with the way they are sitting. i used to set up interviews for a living as a floor director(which apparently this show needs) and it's all about positioning. they are sitting way to close, forcing her to lean back to look at him, which is awkward and uncomfortable. plus, they should've placed her on his left side (like the other guests) so she wouldn't have to choose between facing the interviewer or facing the audience
