Jack literally just kicked him off a cliff and he was dead. Wtf? I feel the whole "everyone is dead" thing to be a major cop-out aswell. Still, I enjoyed the mythology of the island, the religious undertones were cool , but I was still somewhat let-down.
@kelsmart When the 'plug' was pulled by Desmond at the water energy source, Smoke Monster/Locke became vulnerable. That is the reason he was so easy to kill. Kate shot Locke.

Hurley's conversation with Ben at the end also alluded to this when Hurley said "You were a good #2". Ben's response "And you were a great #1. This clearly indicates that these two were on this island for many years after Jack died and the plane flew away...protecting it.
If I wanted a Haruki Murami book I'd read one. I didn't go into this show to speculate forever. A cork that holds a light under an island that turns people into black smoke monsters isn't enough for me...
(we just don't see what happened after Jack dies... etc. Sawyer, Kate, etc fly off the island, Ben and Hurley could of protected the island for another 200 years)

@OneMor3Win the producers and in the forums explain it very different to you, they all say the island was'nt real! and in fact they all died in the pilot episode! and the island was somthing tht helped them move on and move to the after life. Either way its a head fuck.

Desmond ends up with penny right cause Hurley and Ben were going to find another way to get desmond off the island. love this show! I ran cross country all semester with a torn meniscus and tendinitis. It took me 3 months in a brace and crutches to recover from that. I went to school that was not handicap accessible. I went up and down three flights of stairs 8 times a day for 3 months. Sometimes the pain was so much, I'd just collapse on the ground, and crawl to class........but the Lost series finale was still more painful to me.

His dad told jack that they needed the island bc they all needed each other and they all died in the original timeline. Hurley died with ben protecting the island, the people on the ajira plane left and died sometime. @smell0my0nipples Yeah, that's from a parody of the scene where he pretends to be Jacob to Hurley from the first episode of the season (when Hurley was with Sayid). That episode of Kimmel aired on Feb 2nd though.
