Hello upcycle & viewers of this video, I have a request and as this moving story appears to be a good place to reach the people I'm looking for, I hope it's okay that I post here.
I'm an actor & theatre practitioner in London, currently working on a verbatim project on the AMERICAN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM and needing willing participants to share their views & experiences. Please click my Channel for more info. I'm looking forward to hearing from you, upcycle, or any page visitor. Thanks.
OMG....sorry that you have to do this to yourself....I hope you sterilized everything good because an infection would suck on top of that. I have a friend with type one diabetes and the insulin + supplies would cost her about $1000 dollars a month without medical insurance.
Why would you do that? No medical coverage huh? Find one of the numerous free christian health clinics in America and go there. No medical coverage self care is not an extreme sport it is insane.
Any of you folks need help please shoot me a email. I will help you find a clinic.
It's called OLECRANON BURSITIS. People who lean on their elbows a lot, on hard surfaces, get this inflammation Popeye Elbow. It will persist if not drained or removed. He did as good or better job as any doctor would have.
He could have gone to a county hospital to seek treatment. The routinly see patients for minimal fees without health insurance. Not that I am for the HMO's, I truely want and activly fight for universal coverage.
I read a story that some major medical doctor corporation,Torrance-based HealthCare Partners Medical Group, has announcing that it will begin offering a menu of services with a price list. So consumers can compare. I suspect that that announcement may have something to do with Moore's movie "Sicko" coming out. Let the games of Health Care improvement begin (smile)
Thanks for posting the info. It seems to me that that sucked out the synovial fluid from his elbow probably saved himself a couple hundred dollars or more, doing it himself, even though this procedure probably should be only 20-30 per time.
What is a person to do if they need to drain the fluid from their elbow and they don't want to go bankrupt or be "poor" to receive "medicaid". Medicaid is a form of socialized medicine for those that are "disabled" and whom have no more that about 2000 dollars in cash or investments (approx)
Hey folks - watching a movie won't bring us health care, as you know. It's time to act. This is the big enchilada. Universal health care will not be given to us without serious effort, as the HMO industry will fight it tooth and nail. Ask yourself how did slavery end? How did we get labor laws? How did women get the right to vote? All came through organized action - they were not gifts. Together, we can do it. I'm gonna start writing letters to whomever I can.
I think a critical companent regarding the idea of access to decent health care for everyone is education. And It is important to become familiar with existing health care systems that provide universal coverage like Canada, France, England, Australia, Italy and others. Michael Moore's film help to expose many people to alternatives forms of health care systems. And it helps counter myths that grow in ignorance of them.
When you see Moore's film you will be blown away. This was a great but sad clip. Hospitals are dumping people off in the street with no shoes and a simple hospital gown because they have no insurance. America is not the great country we thought it was. This is not America. WTF happened? How did we allow this shit to happen?
I would like to recommend another documentary film, made in the mid 1990's, that documents the National Health care system in the Netherlands. It is Called "Sex, Drugs, and Democracy". I highly recommend it.
