  • well said maronites it's indeed a message, but just like what Mr.Quinzi said all Christians are cordially welcome here in the Philippines...

  • It is depressing that His Beatitude is stating the harsh reality that we try to avoid. The problem is not in the hands of the Christians, but the Muslims, and their religion is a virus on any place it is in.

  • I read in the Daily Star today that the good patriarch has resigned, but his resignation has yet to be accepted by Rome. Is this true? If this is true, what happens next? What does this mean for the Maronite Church in Lebanon, particularly in such a time of political instability? Forgive me if these are silly questions.

  • @dzheremi Dear, Such rumors happened in the past but they were not credible, a patriarch remains patriarch until he dies or he is sick and wishes to resign. The patriarch is not considered resigned until a statement is given by the patriarchate and/or Rome. If this is true, the Maronite bishops will elect a new patriarch, far from medias, same as a Pope election. It may take a week or more but no one will know the results until the white smoke is seen from outside.

  • @maronites Thank you for your answer. Apologies if I have offended you in any way. I don't mean to be spreading rumors. I am only curious because I love the Maronite church and want to know that it is safe. It is hard to know what news to trust about Lebanon if you are looking from the outside as I am.

  • I'm inviting persecuted Christians in the Middle East to come settle here in the Philippines. It's a Catholic Christian country, and the only one in Asia. We guarantee you freedom of religion here. Maronites, Melkites we are all Catholic Christians!

  • @MrQuinzi Thank you for your invitation Mr. Quinzi, but I do not think Christians of the Middle East would like to leave the land where Jesus was born and I do not think either that Jesus will abandon his land and us. Pope John Paul II said while visiting Lebanon in 1997: Lebanon is more than a country; it is a message…

  • @maronites Thats the Spirit I want to see in the Ancient Christians.
