  • SkyCity, Hong Kong airport, berring strait bridge, swiss tunnel. I love Extreme Engineering!

  • ADD THE 800 STOREY BASEMENT DAMMIT!

That would be sick, and probably useful.

  • @skeletorphd I would never ever go more than 5 stories up or down. I hate big cities but this is like...... well..... you know

  • Did they get that Sky city idea from Gundam Seed =?XDXD

  • What about human psychology? How would it be affected by never having your feet touching the ground. When I'm in tall buildings, I'm very much constantly aware of it.

  • kindda scared of this new aim of japan......................not native japaense but my kids is heading to this japans new technologies..................uwi na ako ng philippines..i mean hope to be home in philippines w my famllies jejejejee

  • 2:31 How would you maintain those concrete tubes? Wouldn't the cement eventually crumble, and how do you prevent toppling the structure during routine maintainance?

  • BRITAIN USED TO MAKE STEEL........NOW WE MAKE FUCK ALL

  • japanese tech=no.1

  • This is outdated. Taipei 101 was finished in 2004 and was surpassed by Burj Dubai which is very close to Tokyo's Sky City's height Around 818 meters as opposed to 1,000 meters

  • If they can build Burj Khalifa (2700ft) then they can build this.

  • @MEareCAT

Yeah, but there is still a huge hurtle to overcome: money. How are they going to finance something this massive? The Tokyo Sky Tree is necessary because the Tokyo Tower is to small for transmitting now. Tokyo Sky City 1000, however, is not necessary.

  • something like 400 billion USD to create a pyramid tall 6000 meters somewhere in a neutral place and also to promote growth and prosperity-somewhere like africa, so to concentrate bussiness there and help africa draw in capital

  • the whole world should put some money for the tallest building in the world, .. like everybody, russia, usa, europe, china, japan, .. instead of building a space station that is gonna be destroyed in 5 years cuz they don't last forever and spent like 30 billion USD, they should all pitch in for the tallest building in the world that will not be surpassed by anyone in the world for decades!..

  • this is just like britain in the 60's when we thought ow lets move towards the future and build 80 story concrete shitholes also known as flats which destroyed any type of community that was in the area. look what there doing now, ripping them down. If tokyo did build this building then the people that move in are going to lose the community and culture, also the 100,000 people that move there will just be replaced with another 150,000 people as global population has no means of slowing down.

  • this buliding could be bulit but im not sure spending much of your life in a buliding is good not seeing the mother nature and knowing a huge gigantic buidiing as your world

  • @Dreyfus03 Hmm...I wonder if this project will be an experiment for town reconstruction, if their plan is to build this and demolish 50-100 blocks or 5 neighborhoods, will this project be a new town's redesign and the target is to cancel the horizontal transportation by adopting a new...vertical transportation? Then don't they know that the habitants of the tower will also make children, the sky parks and homes will be crowded and there will be much...traffic in the elevators (like road traffic)

  • @hrbear true but that buliding is like a little town i would not want to know that my whole world is in a buliding but if japan is overcrowded sooner or later this building development if created would also be overcrowded but it will take decades to make a sky city

  • @Dreyfus03 You make it sound like they can't leave the building.

  • At 1:07)

HAHAHA! He's doing the robot dance!

  • Japan has bankrupted itself with unnecessary engineering projects because of the ties of organized crime to politics. I wouldn't doubt it if this thing were built.

  • Gosh their providing lots of jobs just making the thing....if they were to make it.

  • are they actually building this? or has it been cancelled?

  • it is in planing

  • thank go they didn't have these production capabilities in 1940

  • Burj dubai is suppost to be the tallest building in the world. just saying >.>

  • this is my opinion but if an earthquake or a plane accidentaly hit it. It WILL fall, its not safe! but it is really cool!

  • this think would be plane proof, it would be extreamly difficult to take this think out with explosives

  • Many Americans of no respect for the outside cultures. The other day, I was reading a newspaper in which 4 American Teens killed an immigrant solely based because he wasnt American.

  • I live in Japan and Im gonna miss this place when I move. I don't want to move to America, it's unsafe and lowtech compared to Japan.

  • its not unsafe it depends on where you live

  • @ColdZer04 depends if u move to a small town then it is lowertech, but very little crime. Big city high tech, but higher crime

  • @ColdZer04 move to dubai, thats where i'm moving.

  • @ColdZer04

why did you say america is unsafe? japan has yakuza...lol^^

  • @ColdZer04 the US is good in most ways but bad in some ways.......

  • @ColdZer04 I live in america and its not as great as Japan, but unless i have a house, im good.

  • Imagine this being made in the Bronx.

  • ahahahaha

    sooo true

    lol

  • Japan already has a countless amount of skyscrapers that are earth quake proof.

  • epicwater,

Japan already has a countless amount of skyscrapers that are earth quake proof.

    no matter,,,

earthquake is a so powerful shake many different way,,,

earthquake proof is NO help and NO protection,,,

remember earthquake is tearing land open apart as a zipper,,,

earthquake proof cannot be zipper proof

  • With the technology Japan has, they can make buildings earthquake proof. Japan is one of the counties in the world that are technologically advanced. They know what they're doing.

  • hi epic,

    alright,,,

see what happen in the soon future

  • lol

  • the tectonic plates around Japan push against each other, they don't move away. So they don't zip open. earthquake proof buildings are possible

  • look at the tapai 101

  • gtfo its to solve the overpopulation problem retard

  • Aint it foolhardy enough building such a collosal heavy building on (loose soil) land reclaimed from the sea? Just a slight tremor is enough to weaken the foundation base under the weight of this edifice, rendering the whole building dangerous (no matter the accomodatry measures). I might be wrong.

  • they may have to reuse the buildings that were to make room for it... many more problems, but im thinking what about terrist attacks? that would be bad, VERY BAD

  • piles!!

  • mikebibs just got raped in the face by polybun!! oh snap!!

  • I just gotta say, Humans are friggin amazing!

  • @Yaumul Humans.We.Scary.

  • @Yaumul You mean, Japan is amazing.

  • 興 ね。

    Much Peace,

    天死 = Angela

  • What a bunch of wankers! *smirks to himself knowing full well only steel workers will get the joke*

  • *looks at idiot in the face and says... do steel workers go on youtube often?*

  • Well, we are one of the largest work forces in the world, so probably so.

Wanking btw, is the act of working steel to size in a rolling mill.

Does it hurt to be stupid?
