0:34 these are Churchills from Dieppe and not Dunkirk. I wish the producers where more in tune to the real historical images of that event rather than just putting something there for the sake of putting something there. Fucking over paid idiots.
Tiger or panther = Fighter bomber meat. The German's may have had the best tanks on a one for one basis. But the U.S. and Britian had the best artillary and airforces and many more tanks than the German. As well as fuel and ammo for the tanks. In fact logistics slowed down both the Soviet and western Allied advances more than the German's. Even postwar the U.S. anti tank doctrine depended more on tactical airpower than tank to tank combat.
The Cromwell illustartes the speed of tank development during ww 2. It would have been a great tank in the African campaign, but really it was not up to handling the MK IV with the long 75mm or the Stg3. By the time it reached service the German standard AT gun was the 75mm. Even the Comet was just better than the MK IV and Stug not really a match for the Panther.
The reconstituted Austrian army bought some second hand Cromwell's after WW2. The had a new turret and were fitted with the same 90mm gun used on early model Centurions. The North Korean army captured a Cromwell and used it against the British army. It faced a Centurion and was the first tank to tank engagement for the Centurion.
Cromwell=TIGER TANK MEAT!! LOL, anyone remember Villers Bocage? Michael Wittman in his Tiger 1, killed over a dozen Cromwells and over 45 armoured vehicles overall.
Well the 'Killer Tanks' sereis was pretty poor, full of mistakes and the film clips they show have often nothing to do with what they are talking about.
From 0.34 to 0.39, the tanks shown were NOT in France in 1940. They are Churchill tanks - designed later. These were at the Raid on Dieppe in August 1942. At 0.35, you can see the shingle beach, and the exhaust raised high.
