@airborneaksai well its not a copy if you have heard the song. The tune is a lot different than the original. Best motivational video ever made, Coca Cola is doing awesome thing with this commercial, spreading positivity into life's of million's. Thank you Coca Cola for this commercial and also for your products, I love it....!
The comments are completely different between this video and the one ih the Spanish version. The bottom line is that we all see all theese corrupt people in the news, but we never or hardly never see the people that's doing something good. It may have no connection, but the point is to think about something good when we see something bad.
This advert would have a lot more strength if Coca Cola focused on comparing the positives and negatives in the actual subject at hand. Like they could go "this many bombs are made round the world but here's the figures of how many are dismantled". That's proper inspiration to want to achieve something better. Not going "this many bombs are made but LOOK! CAKES! FUCKING AWESOME! EAT A CAKE!" Also, to do this and then go "buy coke" at the end does make you doubt their intentions.
@icecreamscuseme The idea was not to prove that the world is a perfect place. It is meant to highlight the reasons to be happy despite the imperfections that exist without being cynical.
And of course its an ad after all so obviously they'll promote their product in the end, what do you expect?
@santasify I didn't say it was to prove the world is a perfect place. Just their means of inspiring people seemed quite rubbish and seems to trivialise the matters at hand that they want to compare.
I also think that if you are going to do this then advertising your product at the end just seems like a shit thing to do. It'd work better as a piece that isn't tied to advertising.
To Everyone who is hating on this video, listen, I don't drink soda beverages because they are bad for you, and yes the greed of corporations over the last few decades is disgusting, but I think you are all missing a key point to this video. Whether they meant to do it or not, the message of this video is about seeing the positives in life and, yes, while all lot of you understand the BS that's is going on in our world, it is up to us to move forward with positivity or negativity.
People who think coca cola is using our emotions to sell more, stop buying. How did coca cola become one of the largest selling companies in the world? The reason is us. So stop posting things here and do something in real.
Yes, it is an advertisement and obviously it is used to make people buy more but this is actually inspiring.
This is such a farce. there is absolutely no 'reason to believe' for coke to own the message that its conveying. how has coke helped in any of the things listed? if not, then why should it benefit from the good done by others, while it perpetuates havoc on communities around the world.
coca cola is a part of the reason why the world is such wrecked up place. Really, did you really have to use kindness and good to advertise your product? They want nothing but our fat ass dirty dollar, this is really disgraceful. I feel disgusted with companies like that, it's all about making people buy buy buy. Poverty and hunger, evil and war, i mean do you think they care as long as they have money?
@amzzbaby Well thanks for the swearing, that helps. It's offensive because it takes things in this world that are terrible and can be fixed by our will only its say "oh it doesnt matter- look at this totally unrelated thing that will distract you from it- oh yeah and BUY MORE STUFF!". It's offensive to humanity but seems to be the level at which most in the west want to live- use consumerism to get a sense of well being in a world that is slanted in favour of the rich and powerful.
And for each murdered union leaders who got assassinated in their south american plants, how many millions dollars did Coca make? That would be an interesting figure as well... Pls do beleive the hype, get a proper information @ killer coke (dot) org
@xRA1D32x: Coke might spend money in ads, and try to make a better world. But, remember, we live in this world too, which we all have to help make a better world. Coca-Cola itself, can't make it. Can you???
pepsi has a catchy jingle and their own superhero.coca-cola has happiness in a bottle and, in an old coca-cola commercial was when santa was first portrayed as the big guy in a red suit.no joke.look it up.
If only coke spent as much time and resources actually making the world a better place instead of advertising how much it makes the world a better place.
some people seem to overanalyze this ad. no one said u should ignore the bad things happening in this world. the spontanous message i get from this video is: Look at the bright side of life. (And get a coke)
WOW- I thought that COKE couldnt be more patronising- the message seems to be the world is on the way to social, economic and environmental armageddon but you look away, watch shit on youtube, buy soft toys, bake cakes, have kids to over populate the planet more and of course buy a sugary drink that will give you diabetes and tooth decay. Sadly that is exactly what the vast majority of the world are doing- what a depressing piece of propaganda.
whoever made this research is a smart ass. You can make everything look good, when you compare it to something that has no connection to it. My favorite would be: "1,152 women are raped every day, or 48 per hour, in Congo ... but hey, at least 30,000 people fall in love every day "
Even though the commercial is practically selling out (they're already a top selling company anyways) by involving these issues doesn't mean they themselves have bad intention. Well 'coz this commercial made me smile and realize some things. Life's good. :)
For every 23 people who can see through the cynical marketing hype of a greedy mutli national company, 284 will happily drink their Coke and think they're helping to make the world a better place. You're not - you've been suckered.
Classic propaganda - the essence of propaganda being to make you feel emotional about an issue or product as opposed to viewing it logically. Coke is far from a fluffy do good corp as this advert portrays them as, just google their corporate practises in India to learn more. I'm a big Oasis fan but for them to sell out and let coke use their song is shameless, looks like Noel's turning into a complete hypocrite like Bono. That said, I do like this version of the song just a shame it's for coke.
Yeah...ignorance is definitely bliss...but in the end you will be fooled by the corrupt person - who made the market crash, or blown up by the tank or worse yet a nuclear weapon designed by a scientist for a major US weapon corp. Go on, use REAL money that is printed by a private company that owns the US govt. (lol) google and find out sex has more hits than love, Weapon sold by America to a newly created terrorist group for US profits, that will one day blow up innocent citizens. Go on Believe.
This commercial has a very deep idea meaning attached to it.........only optimistic people can understand that........but still I'm not in favor of coke......
what has happened to the coke promtions. "open happiness" is nt at all appealing and dis video only makes it look worse. "Brrr..." also didn't pick up aftr all d money spent. they shud really work on their campaigns. This one is too naive.
@sujit274 i agree, but the brrr campaign looks a lot good in uae, but the way it is portrayed in india, looks a bit frivolous. TV commercials showing cricketers shaking their shoulders in a jig, neither makes it a good dance action , nor connotes brrrrrrr (extreme cold... :)
dont u guys get it??? the ad isnt about to make "belittle-ing"mistakes of humans... but the entire idea is THERE IS MORE GOOD IN THIS WORLD THAN BAD... sheesh... stop being a bunch of pessimistic people
@anshulkarnath: Dude I respect your views and you could be right. But over intellectualizing and over-analyzing will only make you cynical and not let you see the beauty in things. The more the positive thoughts and images the lesser the negativity. Capitalism of America or their economic policies is a different matter to be discussed or reacted upon on a different platform. Maybe an ad against that might inspire people to do something positive. Like this one. Open happiness.
This ad got me a little worried really. I understand that its a heart warming song and the idea is wonderful. however, don’t you think its highly inappropriate to belittle issues by saying that.. say you can counter the death and mayhem brought by american tanks in afghanistan by selling stuffed toys to privileged american kids?
just a thought. I have discussed this ad further at my blog here.. bit . ly / kXkKcr
@Tobiaszek1988 exactly. but coke is appropriating symbols that it has historically not honored. essentially, if none of the 'good things' in the coke commercial had been caused by coke, is it right for them to create a feel good emotion for their brand through the things they don't sell? read this for further explanation bit . ly / oZVRUx
@JacopeX i didn't miss the point. It was metaphorical allusion to separation of cause/effect and high disparity that is deemed ok because of the 'othering'.
@thejinxedone : I think its just a striking contrast between love and war. With so much unrest in various parts of the world, the commercial simply outlines that people still choose love over war. I realize that no where in the commercial does it mention America or Afghanistan. So theres no real reason to be worried. I truely believe this ad goes much beyond just promoting coke. It outlines a stronger message for us, which is 'HOPE'
@Cliffyboy16 True. I wouldn't have been bothered as much if it were not a commercial. but the fact that its Coca cola who is saying this turns this into a insult, a farce for the world. read bit . ly / kXkKcr & bit . ly / oZVRUx
Besides, US and afghanistan instance is simply a sort of a metaphor for the greater discrepancy at play and our ignorance of global cause-effect linkages.
@thejinxedone Thanks for the article (I did read it), Id say it was rather eloquently written but it imbibes a lot of pessimism in it. Though It may not seem right for me to be critical about your POV (after all it is your view point), all id recommend (as a ardent reader of quality blogs), is to adopt a more positive approach in your point of view. It wouldn’t just add value to your blog but also to the reader. All said, thanks for writing in
They are making money with it because it is nice & I actually think that I'd rather see the bad and the good sides of life not like you. I kinda feel sorry for you if you really see the world like that!
And by the way if I search for love on google then I do it because I want to know how others feel about it. If I would seek it then I'd probably go out and meet real people and not be on the internet haha
@thejinxedone I think you're missing the message, it's not belittling issues. It's pointing out the "good" that goes along with the "bad/negative." Not every tank built is American and not every stuffed animal is bought by a privilaged American kid. Despites the way you or I feel about Coke, it's still an effective ad. Get over yourself.
@iliveinabox4 my issue is not about the message per se, but with who is saying it. Coke saying it is like islamic terrorists or brevik singing paeans to equality and multiculturalism. do you see the farce in coke saying good things while perpetuating exactly opposite actions in real life?
@thejinxedone your missing the point of the video. Ignorant people think this world is all about bad and there is nothing good, but open your eyes, yes there are good things so stop only focusing on the bad things or the bad things surely overcome us. this doesnt belittle subjects, it just tries to inspire us
This video makes no sense! Compares signs of war, segregation, death to pointless and superficial "proves" of a good world..these are not real proofs! (and then please, again children singing and hipterish helvetica!)

hopebgood 8 months ago 2
Classic propaganda - the essence of propaganda being to make you feel emotional about an issue or product as opposed to viewing it logically. Coke is far from a fluffy do good corp as this advert portrays them as, just google their corporate practises in India to learn more. I'm a big Oasis fan but for them to sell out and let coke use their song is shameless, looks like Noel's turning into a complete hypocrite like Bono. That said, I do like this version of the song just a shame it's for coke.

Does this mean buying welcome mats, coca cola and stuffed toys will dimish war and bombs?...either way I love this ad...

Beautiful commercial, awesomely created!!! Too bad coca cola is extremely bad for the body, the teeth and health in general!
deannashm 8 months ago
The emotion conveyed through this is very good. No matter how bad, just never lose hope.
They compare random numbers, true, but doesn't it make your heart warm up just a bit? :)
genghizkhan91 8 months ago
Yeah...ignorance is definitely bliss...but in the end you will be fooled by the corrupt person - who made the market crash, or blown up by the tank or worse yet a nuclear weapon designed by a scientist for a major US weapon corp. Go on, use REAL money that is printed by a private company that owns the US govt. (lol) google and find out sex has more hits than love, Weapon sold by America to a newly created terrorist group for US profits, that will one day blow up innocent citizens. Go on Believe.

what bullshit ! Comparing any two arbitrary numbers does not make things all right !
Just because to many people are trying for a baby does not mean that things are all good ! WOW .. just wow. Who came up with this logic?

what has happened to the coke promtions. "open happiness" is nt at all appealing and dis video only makes it look worse. "Brrr..." also didn't pick up aftr all d money spent. they shud really work on their campaigns. This one is too naive.

most naive and badly done feelgood advertisement.
don't drink coke. drink tap water.
Radhikaranjan 8 months ago
@sujit274 i agree, but the brrr campaign looks a lot good in uae, but the way it is portrayed in india, looks a bit frivolous. TV commercials showing cricketers shaking their shoulders in a jig, neither makes it a good dance action , nor connotes brrrrrrr (extreme cold... :)

Open happiness.

what a nauseating ad
For every weapon being built - 20,000 cokes are being shared??? -- like they mean those who build weapons dont drink coke??
for every news person who says things are gonna get worse - 10 couples are trying for babeis???
-- isnt that the big reason that things are gonna get worse?? too many ppl on this planet??

When 6 people disliking 70 people likes this video.. not that good coca-cola.. i drink pepsi and red bull too....

I have discussed this ad further at my blog here.. bit . ly / kXkKcr
thejinxedone 8 months ago 54
@thejinxedone It is about symbols...
Tobiaszek1988 7 months ago
@Tobiaszek1988 exactly. but coke is appropriating symbols that it has historically not honored. essentially, if none of the 'good things' in the coke commercial had been caused by coke, is it right for them to create a feel good emotion for their brand through the things they don't sell? read this for further explanation bit . ly / oZVRUx
thejinxedone 6 months ago
@thejinxedone Privileged american kids? OR how about every kid.
You missed the point.
JacopeX 7 months ago
@JacopeX i didn't miss the point. It was metaphorical allusion to separation of cause/effect and high disparity that is deemed ok because of the 'othering'.
thejinxedone 6 months ago
@thejinxedone : I think its just a striking contrast between love and war. With so much unrest in various parts of the world, the commercial simply outlines that people still choose love over war. I realize that no where in the commercial does it mention America or Afghanistan. So theres no real reason to be worried. I truely believe this ad goes much beyond just promoting coke. It outlines a stronger message for us, which is 'HOPE'
Cliffyboy16 6 months ago
@Cliffyboy16 True. I wouldn't have been bothered as much if it were not a commercial. but the fact that its Coca cola who is saying this turns this into a insult, a farce for the world. read bit . ly / kXkKcr & bit . ly / oZVRUx
Besides, US and afghanistan instance is simply a sort of a metaphor for the greater discrepancy at play and our ignorance of global cause-effect linkages.
thejinxedone 6 months ago
@thejinxedone Thanks for the article (I did read it), Id say it was rather eloquently written but it imbibes a lot of pessimism in it. Though It may not seem right for me to be critical about your POV (after all it is your view point), all id recommend (as a ardent reader of quality blogs), is to adopt a more positive approach in your point of view. It wouldn’t just add value to your blog but also to the reader. All said, thanks for writing in
Cliffyboy16 6 months ago
@Cliffyboy16 true. thanks for your appreciation. :) cheers.
thejinxedone 6 months ago
@thejinxedone Duuude this is just an ad!
BlaBlaa16 6 months ago
@thejinxedone I think you're missing the message, it's not belittling issues. It's pointing out the "good" that goes along with the "bad/negative." Not every tank built is American and not every stuffed animal is bought by a privilaged American kid. Despites the way you or I feel about Coke, it's still an effective ad. Get over yourself.
iliveinabox4 6 months ago 2
@iliveinabox4 my issue is not about the message per se, but with who is saying it. Coke saying it is like islamic terrorists or brevik singing paeans to equality and multiculturalism. do you see the farce in coke saying good things while perpetuating exactly opposite actions in real life?
thejinxedone 6 months ago 2
@thejinxedone your missing the point of the video. Ignorant people think this world is all about bad and there is nothing good, but open your eyes, yes there are good things so stop only focusing on the bad things or the bad things surely overcome us. this doesnt belittle subjects, it just tries to inspire us
