  • thank god you had this on here if you didnt i woulda had to stay after school and watch this while doing a worksheet

  • Cool

  • Ryan Murphy watched this movie I swear.

  • It's tradition, not obedience

  • is this correct? obedient, art.disipline, excellence? four pillars? and what are the name of the 7 students?

  • hi.. i have a question since there's no subtitle.. what is the four pillars? i hope you will answer thanks!

  • @FDtagapaslang They are the four founding principles of the school. A pillar in real life is a vertical beam which supports the roof of a building, as featured heavily in Greek and Roman architecture. But a pillar can also mean a principle, or a rule. The four principles in the school in this film are Tradition, Honour, Discipline, and Excellence.

  • @FDtagapaslang Then a little later, in the room, the boys make up their own pillars: Travesty, Heart (I think!), Decadence and Excrement.

  • at 2:53, it's Red!

  • @ 5:14 - The Death Knell Soundeth!

  • wilson- hellson...

  • Wilson!

  • Be careful. Three of the last four parts have been blocked. Watch at your own risk.

  • @danthemanbananapan not true! all the parts are there. i almost didn't watch this because of you! :P

  • @0bittersweetapathy0 Sorry. What I should've said was some of the parts have been blocked in the US. I didn't realize it'd be different up north.

  • Thank god for English teachers!

  • I watched in my English lessons (in Germany) today. This is the best movie i had ever seen in my life ! Thanks to my englisch Teacher !

  • I was waiting for Red to throw a "FOOT TO ASS" moment at his kid.

  • This is what teaching is supposed to be!

  • Anyone else here because of Introduction to Management?

  • @stephleom Yes! Same here, writing an assignment as we speak...

  • never understood the Scotland The Brave part but fuck it lol

  • Oh okay. So this is where Wilson went to school before getting a job with House.

  • @NUGNESS123 Yep. Red Foreman told him he needed to become a doctor or a foot would go up his ass. So he went to medical School where he met House and so fourth.

  • wow. re-watching this movie is making me realize how strikingly similar my current relationship is with my mom as Neil's with his dads, including an interest in theatre she considers trashable. -_-

  • thank you soooo much for posting this timeless classic!

I've been searching this for sooo long!

  • Wilson is here? Ive seen this before and i didn't go like, ' hey that Wilson is from Dead Poet Society'! hahahahah

  • Wow, the Illuminati is strong at this school.

  • Im watching this crap because i have some crappy schoolassignemnet, im gonna write 450 words about whos fault it is that one of the guys died.

  • @jiggling86 I have to watch this for an assignment too, I'm glad this was here or I'd be pretty screwed.

  • @jiggling86 me too....

  • @VaPor21Guns he gave me a 4- which is like almost a C- or C+

  • @jiggling86 i have an exam on it in one week analysing particular scenes :(

  • @VaPor21Guns poor thing! O:

  • This movie won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

  • im going to a girls school in about 4 months .... fingers crossed theres a teacher like mr keeting there :D

  • This schools a sausage fest. i wouldnt last a month

  • Wilson!!!!(Sorry, I couldn't help myself) His voice hasn't changed at all! I adore this movie, it is timeless.

  • @hbanana7 OH MY GOSH that's exactly what I did when I saw him I was like WHAT WILSON!!

  • The finest institution at stifling creativity, passion and individual thought.

  • i like neal's father BETTER as Red Foreman on THAT 70's SHOW! he's a total dick in this film...id kill him lol

  • I hate Neil´s father. what a pig!! he should have died instead his son!

  • Best Movie Ever!

And thank you sooo much, for putting it on here :P

  • neil kills himself. the teahcer gets fired and theirs a climatic ending where the students make the teacher proud...kinda gay

  • @AllThatMakesUsHuman4 White people

  • the bagpipes are playing my school song :P

  • There's lots of symbolism in the first scene alone. Even the very beginning of the movie is displaying tradition, as the pictures of the old boys fades into the new, looking exactly the same, symbolosing lack of change in the school. The camera angles are high when viewing the audience, implying that they are one and have no induviduality, and conversely low camera angles are used with Nolan to display his power and authority. Also, the fact that Keating is sitting on the end shows himoutsider

  • @gouzbekistan1 this comment helped me write my english essay! thanks!!!

  • I love how there are NO other students there besides white guys - _ -

  • @IloveMIT8923 You have to understand that it is all White because of the Illuminati and "pureblood" is a very important factor in choosing who gets to elevate through society.

  • @anythingnew True

  • Why are there no female teachers?

  • @S2naturally because its an all boys school?

  • @frostflower789 Yea but now they have female teachers in all boy schools. So what was the reason for not having them in Boys schools back in 1959?

  • @S2naturally Schools now are different from how it was back in 1959.

  • @frostflower789 Well yes, but what was the reason? do you know?

  • @S2naturally im not too sure, i don't want to say it had to do with the inequality of women, but it could be?

  • @frostflower789 yes, perhaps it was.

  • POPs gotta big ol lollipop head! Mr. Mackey from south park Head. Moon Head lmao

  • @bubblesandzashleyrox So cool... You know, thanks, I never knew where it was filmed. My friend and I once sat through the movie and guessed. Delaware, huh? I just went to Google Images and typed in the town. It's great, even just casual images of that town resemble the film, i.e. vast lands of grass, Autumn-looking trees, a very peaceful look to it, just like movie!

  • damn good post bro, much appreciated

  • i love this movie , but as a girl i like Mona Lisa Smile better. I remember watching this with my father though. Thank you

  • goodbye mr chips american style :)

  • this was filmed in my hometown! MIDDLETOWN, DE!!!!!!

  • @jbdennis1995 The only thing it could have been known for!

  • @jbdennis1995 Coolstory bro.

  • @jbdennis1995 Where is "DE" located?

  • @DJSexLeopard DE stands for Delaware which is the second smallest state located next to Rhode Island.

  • @buizy16 ohhh. thanks : ) didnt know haha

  • carpe diem!:)...

  • i'd hate to have Red as my dad too.

  • @helenHeller01 bahaha..i know right..

  • This is my all-time favorite movie. It just has exceptional, three-dimensional acting - so raw and realistic. And the message is meaningful and wonderfully portrayed.

  • @kelacaze Ever see "Before Sunrise"? I'd recommend it if you haven't. Youtube's got it.

  • @BrandonLA1 you have great taste in movies. both of them are on my list :D

  • @linuso1988 Excellent :)

  • DR.WILSON

  • There is a movie about a school for greek/latin literature. In the movie the teacher is checking the exams and gives a boy a higher mark than he disurves it.Later when they are old there is this meeting for the student of that class and they decide to make a competition. Two man who used to be students will get questions. Thats when the teacher sees that the one who he has given a higher mark is cheating. I can't remember the name of the movie. Please can someone help me with that?

  • @Afforizma The Emperor's Club with Kevin Kline.

  • 20 people thrive on commercial-mindedness :)

  • @ambereyes93 21 people do not understand the beauty of poetry!

  • I just got our of a prep school that basically is this. TIME TO GET MY LIFE BACK!!!!!!

  • Transcendentalism and Romanticism

    this movie beats both

  • Such a fantstic title. I wish i had thought of it, and i went to this cadavar workshop sposored by 'the dead cat society' i really wish i had a cool club with a cool name

  • 4:23 My favourite part!

  • i love this movie! its awesome! <3 :D

  • @19DaniD97 Indeed, it is my favorite movie of all time, without exception. some they say it teaches rebellion, but to me it says "reach for the stars, follow your dreams".

  • @medievalman86 i agree (:

  • "Don't ever dispute me in public again or my foot is going to have a dispute with your ass!!" is what I distinctly heard LOL

  • ethan hawke is such a great actor!

  • "after you finish medical school, and you're on your own, - then you can do what you damn well please .. but until then you will do as i tell you ... you know how much this means to your mother don't you? ... if you need anything you just let u know..." a helluvan expensive way to break a person's heart ... how can you nurture the body, if you're killing the soul?

  • i love this movie i saw it in 8th grade with my amazing literature teacher and the day after we all stood on our desk and said o captain ,my captain ( and it was our last day of school as 8th graders yayyyyy) carpe diem

  • i love essays :) i had to write one on this movie too, but we didnt get to watch the whole thing, my lit. professor skipped a bunch of it. He thought it wasnt necassary to watch the whole thing to write a good essay on it...

  • oh good! somebody posted it on YT. Thank you!

  • @harmaouke Scotland the great, not ireland's national anthem

  • An all caucasian student and faculty body.

  • @flip1sba Yeah thats because black people back then couldnt afford these universities. They were still getting slave wages.

  • @DJSexLeopard this is a boarding school, not a university. But with their quality of education, the majority of those who graduate here go to the top ivy-league universities. But again, this is the 1950s where Americans are usually portrayed as black and white. Other ethnic groups in this country still do not get the recognition at that time.

  • @harmaouke Yes. The song is Irelands' national anthem.

  • shit. I never knew this movie was uploaded. Thanks. Carpe Di Yum.

  • @harmaouke scotland the brave

  • THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUUU!!!

Just going to settle down with a cup of tea and a pizza in front of this, you made a brilliant night, out of what would be a slightly boring one :D

    xxx

  • Mr. Keating is a nice guy

    but he is naive

  • 1:31 Song, please?

  • @prisionnerofsociety It's called scotland the brave

  • Oh my god. Greatest movie of all time.

  • I know it seemed like Neil overreacted at the end, but just think about it. His whole life he'd been suppressed by his father and he never knew any different. Then Mr. Keating comes along and Neil starts to understand what it means to "suck the marrow out of life", and it's something greater than he's ever experienced. Before, he didn't know what he was missing. So when Mr. Perry takes that away from him, he's just unable to cope with anything less than living his dream.

  • @Snottdook Couldn't have put it better myself, very well written :)

  • i hate essays im doing one now on this or the village

  • i hate essays

  • What Neal needed was a good foot in the ass from Red Foreman. Eric would never acted out in such a way.

  • Mr Keating's time in London is the reason why there is no longer a British Empire.

  • If everyone had shut up and minded their own business, Neal would be on Wall Street or Madison Ave and not dead. On the other hand, if he was so weak he had to kill himself over a stupid play, maybe he could not have made it after all. Better dead than on the streets. This was before FDR's class betrayal had the time to actually start ruining things, and before the "Great Society": finally did.

  • i LOLed when people read out the cooments....LOL
