Is Del playing Leroy VanDyke's guitar? Leroy's name is on the guitar strap, must be his guitar. Just sorta strange. I guess Del left his guitar at home or with the repairman.
@papawx3 That is Leroy Van Dyke's Custom Gibson J-200 guitar with giant pickguard. At times Del often played other people's guitars. There was a clip or two of him on the Porter Wagoner Show where he played Porter's Grammer guitar. When Del passed away in 2007, WSM's Eddie Stubbs said Del smashed a guitar on stage. Del Reeves, the Dean Martin of Country Music, is gone but he and his "Doodle-oo-do-dos" will never be forgotten.
Guess I'm wierd or maybe it's those around me...who knows? I'm 30 yrs. old and these Del Reeves tunes are better than anything they play on todays so called country stations. Guess you could say I'm not good with keepin up with times.
@357hank It's all about 'what sells'? Today's CW musicians are nothing short of fabulous. They're all into this stuff, just like you. Problem is, it won't sell.....
The tenor singer / guitarist is George Owens ( stage name ) from West Virginia. George is also a singer song wrter. Has worked with Melba Montgomery, Faron Young.

I moved to Nashville in late '77 and played piano with him for about 2 years... if anyone has any photos, I would LOVE to have a copy...
I look back on those days with the best of memories.. talk about an *entertainer"... when he was "on", he was the best.
Anyone have video of him doing Johnny Cash...? Del could LOOK like him... it was amazing... thanks to all for the posts, -ws

Notice the strap on the guitar Del Reeves is playing. It says "Leroy Van Dyke". Apparently Del borrowed the Gibson J-200guitar from The Auctioneer.
