@twinsclub1 I only stated general facts, not hate. Look at the records. Russia or USSR usually did the opposite of USA. They appear to be taking pleasures in opposing USA. Nuclear bombings were a tragedy but they could not help it, in a way, to fast finish up the war before the atheistic communists become mightier and enslave everyone.
Occupying Formosa could help the US to counter European monopolization of the major trade routes. President Franklin Pierce declined the suggestion, remarking such a remote possession would be an unnecessary drain of resources and that he would be unlikely to receive the consent of Congress.
So you can see , who Perry really was, he wanted to ocupy todays Taiwan, so dont tell me he is nice man, he was the man of interest .
@twinsclub1 Whatever the motivations and reasons behind are, Asia got modernized by USA. If no modernization, the massacres and injustices by barbarism in secluded nations would have continued on and on. If Perry didn't open up Japan, any other modernized neighboring countries, be it China, Korea, or Taiwan would have opened up Japan, and the results would have been just the same. Everything was a matter of time. Japan should be thankful it wasn't Russians who forced it opened.
On his way to Japan, Perry anchored off Keelung in Formosa (modern day Taiwan), for ten days. Perry and crew members landed on Formosa and investigated the potential of mining the coal deposits in that area. He emphasized in his reports that Formosa provided a convenient mid-way trade location. Formosa was also very defensible. It could serve as a base for exploration as Cuba had done for the Spanish in the Americas.
Perry attempted to intimidate the Japanese by presenting them a white flag and a letter which told them that in case they chose to combat, the Americans would necessarily vanquish them.
The term "Black Ships", in Japan, would later come to symbolize a threat imposed by Western technology

@Hesuku And they make Japan , Korea, and Taiwan strong and modernised so that you can be their allies against China , that China was their allies then, you would not get so much help from USA, look how many money is spend in Taiwan on the army, bilions and bilions of dollars, so small island has the army to fight against great China, its simple , and USA has the largest overseas base in Yokosuka, which serves as the homeport for the Navy's largest forward-deployed fleet .

@Hesuku James Glynn recommended to the United States Congress that negotiations to open Japan be backed up by a demonstration of force.
When Perry arrived he ordered his ships to steam past Japanese lines towards the capital of Edo, and position their guns towards the town of Uraga He then demanded permission to present a letter from President Millard Fillmore, and threatened to use force if the Japanese boats around the American squadron did not disperse.
"Love Supreme." - "Love Supreme. In the mirrors of your eyes, truthfulness reflects. I was destined to meet you. I want you to pour out all your love on me now. Bright starry sky envelopes the two lovers. I have been waiting for you all the loneliest nights. Love supreme. In the ocean of your heart, let me see my dream. At times when we are separate from each other, your love will surely make me strong forever. Love supreme. We met to trust each other. Love supreme. We met to love each other."
@Hesuku Man , you were original fan ? Heh , so i was thinking i am old and watching this, i was born 78 and i watched all season and all movies in 2011 , lol, but i love it so much , i know Yamato series and movies isnt perfect, but first think when i watched Yamato i was thinking that it is made in memorial of real battleship Yamato, and i think they died sadly, and i honor them .
@Hesuku In first season , episode 25 , when Kodai heard from Starsha that she saved man from Earth , i was in state, omg is it posible that Kodai brother is alive , and when they show them , ah , that was emotional moment, and i cried , but i cried a lot in 26 when Kodai holded in his hands dead Yuki , oh man, and then she revived , omg, i was happy but it felt stupid , how she suddenly to be alive, doc told she is dead , well stupid moment lol .
@twinsclub1 "Yamato" was originally meant to be a regular international space battleship but Mr. Matsumoto made it to commemorate the actual Battleship Yamato. That's why it has some anti-West nuance and the tragedy it carries is overwhelming. If you know the desperate emotion of the Japanese people during the end of WW2, this work is found so much more deeply meaningful. Unlike newer toxic anime, "Yamato" taught us then-kids everything beautiful and desirable.
"Have a nice dream. (The Japanese part says) Together we want to sing of the boom of our youth again."
At the end Queen Aquarias says something like, "Children, as long as you live, trials will continue. Live with strength and by doing so your life will be beautiful. It also beatifies your relationship with others."
Something to know #5: "Final Yamato" had regrettable circumstances. The producer kept saying he rushed and he didn't like the outcome, so he fixed some and re-released later. The revised version got TV aired in 1984, but we didn't care. I wonder if we fans were nicer, "Dessler's Wars" was made with new Miyagawa music back then. Now both have passed away, we can never find out what we ended up missing by being rude.
@Hesuku BUT my faverovite movie is Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato , this ultimate movie , you cant not to cry , almost all die, and Kodai with dead body of Yuki goes in suicide mission, and there he told her how he apologies for making her life so difficult , and then he says how much he loves her and how they will be together now and that this is their wedding ceremony . After that we can see dead images of Chief Tokugawa, Dr. Sado , Analyser, Yamamoto ,Kato, Sanada, Saito ,Okita.
Something to know #4: I remember, until the mid-80's the mainline sci-fi war anime described beautiful family or romance relationships which are ideal. Something bad must have happened afterward; anime continuously described anti-authority, anti-parents messages it made bad kids worse. We were angry with Yamato in 1983 because some of us anime fans have become pretty vicious by then. The anime boom started in 1977 by Yamato but the golden age was not long.
Something to know #3: In my case, it took me 23 years to appreciate this work for the first time as a master-piece depict of father-son relationship. I didn't know the Dinguil family was an antithesis of Okita/Kodai. Okita was so wholly wonderful in the season 1 we fans never wanted him to be used by the producer again but now I'm happy he was in Final Yamato. The late Mr. Nishizaki had a plan for a movie "Desler's Wars" but his "Odin" movie failed in 1985 it never came true. That was sad.
Something to know #2: But it was Yamato nonetheless, we then-youth had to go watch. We were disappointed in many things: #1 The plot had too many forced set-ups( Just blow up Aquarius and it's done!). The enemy wasn't mighty enough( what were those horses for?). Shima got killed!! The Aquarias queen wasn't impressive - just a talking imagery, nothing like Starsha. The tragedy was too heavy, too much and too familiar. And ending did not make us happy. We just acknowledged the superb music.
Something to know #1: This was not an alternative ending but the very original theatrical ending in 1983. All the anime magazines made a scoop out of this scene before the release at that time but many of us were very good kids. We thought the producer was luring us into the theater by causing a stupid sensation since Yamato's popularity has waned. Most of us were mad because he revived Captain Okita - something that should never happen since we were sick of all the revived characters.
iGNORE NOT lOVE, WHEN PAIN HAS MADE A Hell of a path, and Peace and Love find it's way to beyond painfull hearts and can make it whole, let that healing make it so. Give love a break, there is so few of that running around.
I remember watching SB (American dubbed version SBY) as a kid. Even then, I knew Nova (Yuki) and Derek (Kodai) were in love and understood what that meant: That at some point they would marry and have kids. I also understood (more or less) how babies were made.
This depiction is completely appropriate. They got married , finally, and then what is entirely natural for a husband and wife to do took place. Now the story is complete.
I'm wondering how "alternative" this is... when I used to watch this at my friends house on the original betamax video tape, this *was* the ending. Maybe the Japanese censors thought it was too much...
THIS IS WHY RETRO ANIME IS THE BEST because they were always worried about budgets and the such they had to put their all into these projects yamato is the the reason the word "anime" exists if u don't believe me watch the first episode and they actually say that this was the series that caused the invention of the word not only that this was a great series i wish they had digitally remastered this would've looked awesom nowadays anime is kinda hit and miss we need more yamato in the animeworld
Ya know, they could've shown more of Kodai with him being passionate with Yuki. Things like this can be done yet kept within the bounds of classiness. Like with golden/fuzziness above the waist them loving each other together - not just her! Not fair since Kodai is kinda hot too. From a female perspective. At 5:50 showing him at the end is a short cut CHEAP SHOT! When I first saw this long ago at a con, all the guys in the audience laughed at Kodai at the end. A joke. I felt bad for Yuki! Sad.
You know what I can't figure out, that I was hoping this alternate would explain... what happened to that alternate dimension galaxy that was appearing and ripping apart the center of our galaxy? All it did was STALL Deslar's appearance till the end of the movie. It was totally forgotten after the beginning, I swear.
Shima should have been in the lineup with the rest of the crew. Miss Shima, Sato, Knox, Okita, Mamoru, and everyone else that gave their life for Earth. Finally a kiss!. As far as I know, they have never kissed, just embraced. 30 years for a kiss I have been waiting.
What ever became of "...And they lived Happily ever after..."? The 'love-scene' is a subtle form of 'Voyerism'. Just as when foul langage is spoken in any medium, liberal thinkers will call it "Gritty Realism" No-Its really getting away with something and calling it an art form. You disagree? I give you 'Raging Bull', Eddie Murphy's 'Raw' and most Quintan Tarentino movies. Does any one here believe they wouldn't be GREAT films w/out the garbage spewing from the actor's mouths? I think...not.
when...will...they....sub...or.....release....all....episodes....for..this anime...?a nd id ont mean starblazers....im talking about unedited original SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO!
@sideim Hey BONE HEAD !! Yuki/Nova does not deserve your comment. She is sweet. She deserves better. Don't twist her image in that way. It's not nice.
Look you childish knuckleheads. They battled from one end of the galaxy to the other. They were in love the whole time. Can you imagine not getting laid that whole time, the whole time she's in that tight fitting space suit?! My god man! They have to bang. At least they were married (notice the dress?) Hey, if these two animated characters need to bump uglies, who are we attack that I ask you! It's space madness to do all that killing with no love tossed in for good measure.
Not only was she in that tight spacesuit the whole time, but the first time they did a space warp, the whole bridge crew saw her naked. Including Kodai.
@behrjet Hey you! My comment if full of valuable true knowledge. It's a public service and an astute observation on the human condition. Be a builder not a destroyer.
I actually think this scene was rather unnecessary (at least the consumating their love scene). It also doesn't help that this is the longest animated film ever made, and is also one of the most interminable films I've ever seen.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Wildstar=40 year old virgin. NICE! Now go explore her milkyway galaxy with your space probe. It seems when shes with a man she falls asleep!?!? (o.O)? What thaaa.
My first exposure to anime was I belive 1962 or 3 with a show called " Tobar the 8th man. He was a guy who turned into or something to do with the 8th dimension. I was 10 yrs old lol
They retired (if really "quit" the job), since they're heroes isn't hard to imaginate that, and they should enjoy the good things of life now on. Simple like that.
Eu adorei esse final. No seriado todo, não se viu nenhuma cena de beijo ou amor. Esse anime foi feito para adultos, não para crianças, por isso foi adaptado.
This is not just a random sex scene, it is supposed to serve as a closure to all the fans whom followed the Yamato series.
Once again it is the general misconception of anime=cartoon=for kids. The only thing wrong is the people who tried to gimp a M show to all ages then blaming it for poisoning the kids.
As a mature person reading a story. The heroes finally, finally overcame all the wars and deaths and pain and what do you expect them to do, just hold hands and live happily ever after, end?
Very true. But back in the late 60s and 70s, no one ever heard of the mature rating except in films where its considered "art". And cartoons are usually targeted to children which is the stigma at that time (saturday morning cartoons). The Japanese animation industry are one step ahead for bringing animation to a higher level when it comes to story and animation sequences.
Starblazers (Yamato) was my absolute favorite cartoon as a kid, and it certainly imprinted a lot on my life! :)
It was a lot more on character and story than... Inspector Gadget or "Lioncats" or whatever... and ESPECIALLY 1000x better than "Pokemon" or what not THESE days. Sheesh.
I don't think the love scene would have been appropriate for kids, but I suspect this scene was geared toward the teen/adult crowd. Was I the only one as a kid to think that Starsha was hot!? in a kid sort of way?
The music was just a bit sappy, but the animation was just beautiful. What a lovely way to end such a depressing film. Seems kind of ironic though that no one bats an eye about an entire movie filled with people dying and killing one another in various horrible ways. Yet when you try to add a love scene featuring two beloved characters who care deeply for each other, some people go nuts. Probably explains why this world is so screwed up.
YOu aren't kidding. It's a double standard at best. We'll let the kiddo's see people killing eachother, explosions and absolute mayham......but the act of procreation and love will "scar" kids?!
exactly. Yeah, you can show ppl shooting each others brains' out, but you can't show the natural and, mostly harmless act of sex? But I'm talking about this in the general matter of things. Of course in "Star Blazers" Yamato was edited as a kids show, but the original was meant for older audiences.
Ever see the original versions of the shows? My friend burned me a copy....interesting what they took out on the death scens. Remember how the Andromeda was spotted through the window by Conroy (?) what they didnt show was that he was standing at a urinal and opened the "window" just so he could gaze out at the stars while relieving himself.....so even the view of a TOLIET will "scar" our kids I guess! LOL (Sorry about my spelling.)
@tuxmant2 - Ya know I agree with you 'tux'. This scene though I think could've been better done (but that's just me) is actually very clean compared to the stuff kids are bombarded with in the media now. This is actually a good thing for parents to sit down with ther kids and watch with them. It opens up the discussion for questions kids would have about sexuality and the right conditions for it to happen, like between consenting adults having had a lengthy courtship before marriage.
More thoughts on "Fainal Yamato" - they didn't have to make the rescuing crew get attacked and perished TWICE! Cpt. Okita was to die in this movie; Shima needn't to die. The Dinguil boy should have lived on and start a new dynasty which won't be evil like his father's. In "Final Yamato," only Susumu, Yuki and earthlings survived happily. With the story plot scale, a lot more could have said and done... T T
I mean, we all KNEW Susumu and Yuki would marry happily; it's a long over-due since "Farewell Yamato." There must have been more hopeful things happening other than that in "Final Yamato."
Interesting love scene. But I remember they illustrated this in the Manga comics, but they couldn't air it in the actual animated tv series in Japan. It was considered mature for minors, and besides, the kids were more interested in the war scenes than the love scenes feature in Yamato, but this animation was such hit in Japan that they even create a movie from its original tv animation series.
I grew up watchin this show in America and didn't get to see the final seasons, so i'm glad that wild star got some booty finaly after being on that ship for so long.
That is the most melodramtic love sceen i have ever scene. Wow she must be having some kind of orgasm. Never thought I would live to see Nova nd Derek Wildstar naked.
You're right! Both Yamato film makers and fans felt so back in 1983. Only long-standing fans understand what it means Susumu and Yuki's love celebrated and fulfilled at last after all those wars, sorrow and turmoils. It's truly an unparalleled beautiful picture of faithful man and woman in marriage love. This is the original theatrical ending; there is another ending broadcasted in TV in 1984.
i think this clip is not originally made for star blazers. i think it has been just added up lately or something.
sorry mate, but i dont appreciate that.
the whole adults world is just so crap and s***.
tell me what did we do!? is there even a true love!?a true friendship!? is there anything true in the world we're living? nothing mate, absoulty nothing!! all you see is greediness and the black desires of the human beings
..pity that you feel the way you feel themoss,in general and especially for not appreciating this kind of ending, which if u cared enough, u'd have found out that this WAS the original version...U were probably hurt in yr personal life, but no need to have taken it out on "yamato"...(u even misinterpeted what nosorab3 told u-who in fact agreeded with u..)
Star Blazers was the EDITED Yamato. This was made as part of the original anime and was too dangerous for American viewers who can't deal with... anything... which is why all the sake was turned into bottles of spring water.
That'd been cool if IQ-9/Analyzer rolled into the bedroom while they were getting it on and started freaking out. Either that, or tried to make it a threesome.

Heh , so i was thinking i am old and watching this, i was born 78 and i watched all season and all movies in 2011 , lol, but i love it so much , i know Yamato series and movies isnt perfect, but first think when i watched Yamato i was thinking that it is made in memorial of real battleship Yamato, and i think they died sadly, and i honor them .
twinsclub1 3 months ago

Hesuku 3 months ago
A fan service:
"Have a nice dream. (The Japanese part says) Together we want to sing of the boom of our youth again."
At the end Queen Aquarias says something like, "Children, as long as you live, trials will continue. Live with strength and by doing so your life will be beautiful. It also beatifies your relationship with others."
Hesuku 3 months ago
Something to know #5: "Final Yamato" had regrettable circumstances. The producer kept saying he rushed and he didn't like the outcome, so he fixed some and re-released later. The revised version got TV aired in 1984, but we didn't care. I wonder if we fans were nicer, "Dessler's Wars" was made with new Miyagawa music back then. Now both have passed away, we can never find out what we ended up missing by being rude.
Hesuku 3 months ago

Hesuku 3 months ago
Something to know #3: In my case, it took me 23 years to appreciate this work for the first time as a master-piece depict of father-son relationship. I didn't know the Dinguil family was an antithesis of Okita/Kodai. Okita was so wholly wonderful in the season 1 we fans never wanted him to be used by the producer again but now I'm happy he was in Final Yamato. The late Mr. Nishizaki had a plan for a movie "Desler's Wars" but his "Odin" movie failed in 1985 it never came true. That was sad.
Hesuku 3 months ago
Something to know #2: But it was Yamato nonetheless, we then-youth had to go watch. We were disappointed in many things: #1 The plot had too many forced set-ups( Just blow up Aquarius and it's done!). The enemy wasn't mighty enough( what were those horses for?). Shima got killed!! The Aquarias queen wasn't impressive - just a talking imagery, nothing like Starsha. The tragedy was too heavy, too much and too familiar. And ending did not make us happy. We just acknowledged the superb music.
Hesuku 3 months ago
Something to know #1: This was not an alternative ending but the very original theatrical ending in 1983. All the anime magazines made a scoop out of this scene before the release at that time but many of us were very good kids. We thought the producer was luring us into the theater by causing a stupid sensation since Yamato's popularity has waned. Most of us were mad because he revived Captain Okita - something that should never happen since we were sick of all the revived characters.

Sad.

Eu adorei esse final. No seriado todo, não se viu nenhuma cena de beijo ou amor. Esse anime foi feito para adultos, não para crianças, por isso foi adaptado.
ronaldo1971 3 years ago
This is not just a random sex scene, it is supposed to serve as a closure to all the fans whom followed the Yamato series.
Once again it is the general misconception of anime=cartoon=for kids. The only thing wrong is the people who tried to gimp a M show to all ages then blaming it for poisoning the kids.
As a mature person reading a story. The heroes finally, finally overcame all the wars and deaths and pain and what do you expect them to do, just hold hands and live happily ever after, end?
seminolePP 3 years ago 5

Sheesh.

Probably explains why this world is so screwed up.
pandaphil 3 years ago 5
YOu aren't kidding. It's a double standard at best. We'll let the kiddo's see people killing eachother, explosions and absolute mayham......but the act of procreation and love will "scar" kids?!
tuxmant2 3 years ago
exactly. Yeah, you can show ppl shooting each others brains' out, but you can't show the natural and, mostly harmless act of sex? But I'm talking about this in the general matter of things. Of course in "Star Blazers" Yamato was edited as a kids show, but the original was meant for older audiences.
schnellbomber87 3 years ago
Ever see the original versions of the shows? My friend burned me a copy....interesting what they took out on the death scens. Remember how the Andromeda was spotted through the window by Conroy (?) what they didnt show was that he was standing at a urinal and opened the "window" just so he could gaze out at the stars while relieving himself.....so even the view of a TOLIET will "scar" our kids I guess! LOL (Sorry about my spelling.)
tuxmant2 3 years ago
lol, ppl these days are just so sensitive about what is "good" for their kids and what is "bad".
schnellbomber87 3 years ago
@tuxmant2 - Ya know I agree with you 'tux'. This scene though I think could've been better done (but that's just me) is actually very clean compared to the stuff kids are bombarded with in the media now. This is actually a good thing for parents to sit down with ther kids and watch with them. It opens up the discussion for questions kids would have about sexuality and the right conditions for it to happen, like between consenting adults having had a lengthy courtship before marriage.
TheOceans674eva 10 months ago
More thoughts on "Fainal Yamato" - they didn't have to make the rescuing crew get attacked and perished TWICE! Cpt. Okita was to die in this movie; Shima needn't to die. The Dinguil boy should have lived on and start a new dynasty which won't be evil like his father's. In "Final Yamato," only Susumu, Yuki and earthlings survived happily. With the story plot scale, a lot more could have said and done... T T
