What many fans don't realize/never realized about Bird was his incredible quickness. "HUH?!?!?!" I can hear nearly all of you saying. Hear me out. There are different kinds of quickness. No, LB was not quick with his feet. But he was "off the charts" with his hand quickness and hand/eye coordination. Read that in an article by a doctor with lots of experience with athletes in that area who preformed some tests on Bird, said Larry was the best that he had ever tested; by a margin, too.

Larry had the best array of fakes ever - head fakes, ball fakes, you name it. Larry is also the greatest shooter and especially deep shooter ever. He's also the greatest passing forward ever (Rick Barry a close 2nd IMO). Add to that that he was a great free throw shooter, a great rebounder, a great clutch performer, and the smartest player ever. I think he's the greatest all-around player ever. In short, he's my favorite player of all-time.

I saw Barry a lot, me being from Oakland, and he rarely shot when someone else was in better position to score, and as great as Barry could shoot he passed just as well. He was a fast break machine and when he slowed down was a lights out shooter.

@tellthetruthg IMO Barry is the 2nd greatest all-around forward of all-time. I saw Barry score 50 in Oakland and hit the game winner falling out of bounds! Barry and Bird both had great all-around games - deep shooting, free throws, passing,etc... I think Barry could drive to the hoop better from the triple threat position although Bird was no slouch there either. I think Bird was the better rebounder. Overall I give the slight edge to Bird but I loved watching them both. They were so clutch!

How did the Celtics do last season and how did the Bulls do? The difference was Scalabrine. Derrick Rose kept shooting bricks and the poor coaching benched Scalabrine. If Scals was on the court, Rose could drive to the basket drawing the defenders allowing Scal to shoot the dagger. Bill Russell is old, Bird doesn't have the same legs as he used to, McHale hasn't shot the basket well in years, and Satch Sanders doesn't have stamina anymore. Scalabrine would wreck them one on one.

Scalabrine is a first ballot HOF, has a championship, and yes he encourages all players while on the bench. Youtube search Scalabrine and see all His Greatness. There is a reason why the Boston Celtics signed Scal to a 5 year 15 million dollar contract; they knew his potential.
