to speed up a slow pc, all you need to do is delete the crapware, you could get a vanilla windows disc, but the one provided by Compaq/whatever will also install the crapware. Most linux distros come with no crapware, and through the use of WINE they can run windows programs.

I am not really a linux freak, but common. my mother runs linux and she doesnt know what a byte is. you can use wine for all of the windows apps that don't use .net framework so linux is really better than windows. mac is amazing too but linux is just in MY opinion best.

Yes I have had the misfortune of using Mac's from the very first Mac to current gen Mac's. Not impressed in the slightest. They wouldn't be bad computers if they weren't overpriced for the hardware you get inside them.

I can build a PC that blows the top Mac on the market away for 1/2 the price. There is no reason for Apple charging as much as they do other than to make loads of money. But then Steve Jobs always was a complete prick, even cheated his partner out of money once.
