Hey Slater.. I saw this for sale on Ebay some time back and being a Mini owner (a very sorted 1 at that) at the time i thought your Metro was the 'NUTs'.Reason i'm contacting you is i looked through all your restoration pics when you was selling this and i'm fed up with keep taking my Metros for suspension pump ups.. i noticed you made up a handy bit of kit out of an old master cylinder and wondered if you could let me know how you did it? Reply to kodi0305@hotmail.com
get a cheap grease gun and make a fitting so it will screw on the schrader valve (you can use a metal tyre valve cap if your clever) just fill the gun with fluid and pump!
@ldxml Because it's something different. Not everyone had a built metro. I'ts kind of funny. It IS a geo metro lol! But it's cool if someone wants to build a different car. Not everytone has to have a supra or camaro or even a VW...
love the car. am in the process of installing turbo metro lump into my mini. but have problems with starting i have fuel to carb but no fuel to cylinders, engine fires when we put easy start strait into inlet manifold, im guessing its shit in the carb so a carb rebuild is happening 2mz, apart from that anyone else got any ideas?
ive got a mini, its one of the best minis in the country if i do say so myself.
The metro is way cooler tho, 99% of minis are utter shite and owned by people who are totaly inept at building cool cars, 99% of metros however are owned by grannys. understand?
ahem, u.s. man you are thinking of a Geo Metro if i am not mistaken, which is the US Readged version of a Suzuki Swift. this is a car made in the uk, Called an Austin Metro. so this is a metro. go look up Austin Metro. so there nyeeeh
Sounds good mate, is it a 1.3 originally then ported to 1400 or more?
What manifold and turbo did you use and was it easy to put together?
im suprised you used a standard bottom i would have thought forged pistons etc would have been essential at boost, especially on the age of the engine :)
Nah the bottom end dosnt take much of a pounding in a turbo motor as your not running at high RPM's. Forged pistons are not relly nessicary. Cirtanly not cost effective.
Other then what i mentioned its standard metro turbo stuff.
Is it hard to get hold of the manifold, ecu, downpipe and turbo etc? I reckon the 1.3 would be easy to find, but the rest must be a bit of a nightmare..
SOUNDED LIKE A HAIRDRYER ON FULL POWER .

No matter what you do its still a Metro.
Seriously, are you over 50? If you are under 50, why a Metro? You could get a Mini.

That sound on the motor as it passes by, reminds me of the Delorean. What did you do to get that sound?

straight cut gearbox mate..
burton76 3 years ago
Its not the gearbox that makes the whine, its the straight cut drop gears.
piebarnett 3 years ago
its both really, in fact any straight cut gears whine, thats why they use helical on road cars to keep them quiet
burton76 3 years ago
most cars in reverse got a straight cut gear

What engine is in it - a 1.4 k series and a T3? Did you use forged pistons and rods, and finally did you use any of the original parts?
pwetherhill 4 years ago
Its an A-series
slater3333uk 4 years ago
what sort of money have you spent?
whats your engine specs? pm me if you prefer, im on metropower and also rovertech. im running a 2.0 t-series.
looking into roughly the same setup myself.
pwetherhill 4 years ago
Well its standard bottom end, Ported head with MG sized inlets. 8.5:1 compression, Avonbar phase 2 cam, 10-12psi boost, RSturbo intercooler
Straight cut box, 4 pin diff, grey clutch.
I didnt spend much on it relly, about £2200 maybe. Most of the cost was in the gearbox/ clutch bits which was £1250ish
