How long do we have to hear the exact same things being said about climate change, and see the same lack of progress every year? What the hell are we going to have to do to make our leaders make a change? Anybody reading this ever written to your government about environmental issues? It is as effective as writing to Santa! My time would be better spent making a popsicle stick raft for when the floods come.
So I assume you're only traveling by bicycle and engaging in activities which are not increasing global warming? Or are you just waiting for bureaucrats who travel by private jets and limousines in hopes they will save the environment?
As a matter of fact, I don't own a vehicle. I walk or I take public transit. I have always recycled and I eat meat about once a week. I know that's not enough, but I at least try. I live in Alberta where water is drained from the Athabasca River to extract oil from dirt that is extracted from the Earth by destroying large portions of land. So yeah, I think that it is time for government bureaucrats to start looking for other options.
I wrote to the Alberta government aout the Tar Sands years ago and I got nothing back but a packet of pamphlets telling me to vote Conservative. I would sooner eat my ballot.
Doesn't anyone else think that the Kunduz incident was a Taliban trap? They stole the fuel tankers, drove them into a river for some reason and then went to the nearby village and told everyone to get some free fuel, probably knowing fully well that a German drone was on its way. This has turned into a PR nightmare for Germany and has turned public opinion even more against the war. The Taliban played the Germans, and 141 (mostly) civilians paid for it.
Israel's settlement freeze is supposed to clamp down on new housing starts in the West Bank, but it's also shielding illegally built outposts and settler houses from demolition. The enforcement of an order to evacuate outposts - a step demanded by the US to help
@needbailout ~ There is no settlement freeze. It is just talk. Every building permit requested, all six thousand of them, was approved. Proof positive of Eastern European Jews is they build more and issue more building permits in Palestine than in Isreal.
restart peace talks with the Palestinians - has been put off for years. Palestinians and Israeli peace groups have been challenging the delay in Israel's Supreme Court, which requested from Israel a timetable for the demolitions. .. .. The statement is fueling concern that, despite public clashes with Jewish settlers over the partial freeze, the moratorium will prove to be little more than a public relations mirage.

Nice to see the vicious butchers of Syria criticizing Israeli leaders as war criminals.
