We created an armature film with a garbage dump smog monster 6 years prior. In 1970, over 500 amateur film makers and high school film departments from the South (San Francisco) Bay attended an event at Fremont High school (Sunnyvale). Our production, The Monster That Everybody Created, along with four other competing films, were shown to the audience in a theater setting. The movie is posted in my channel.
You could get a copy of the Milpitas Monster movie from George Loughborough at Huntford Printing & Graphics, 275 Dempsey road, Milpitas, CA. 408-957-5000
Robert Burrill, the producer of The Milpitas Monster, is a retired teacher living still in Milpitas. He also wrote a book about Milpitas history and another about the history of nearby Alviso. His YouTube channel is moooose69. Lost copyright when the lawyer hired to do the job failed to do what he was paid for...
Heh, I remember being at Robert Randall School and the Milpitas Monster and King Kong were both at my school for the halloween day. I remember I got lost from my class. :(
@TEMPmichaelhansen . You could get a copy of the Milpitas Monster movie from George Loughborough at Huntford Printing & Graphics, 275 Dempsey road, Milpitas, CA. 408-957-5000
The story is- Milpitas was going broke and needed tourism. The Milpitas chamber of commerence voted to make a film using local tax dollars. Everyone in town was encouraged to be a part of the film. The film it was promoted on a local televesion station KTVU Channels 2 on the late night weekend movie hosted by Bob Wilkenson. I heard the film stunk but generated an amazing amount of money and tourism.
The movie didn't stink. The movie was not paid with tax dollars, the funds were raised by the Milpitas high school photography class. This movie was highly successful, yes, but Milpitas was not going broke. Bob Burrill made this movie, soon selling it to local business owner and old friend, George Loughborough, who is also my grandfather. After thirty years, this movie is still bringing in profits. Please do not assume these kind of things. Have a nice day!
reply to YungReg88's comment~ actually, the name was given to the town back when the spanish inhabited the area. the town's current population is mostly asian/european. many condominiums are being built to manage the rapid population increase.
This movie is NOT public domain. I know for a fact that the copyright is owned by George Loughborough of Huntford Printing & Graphics. PLEASE get your facts straight before you criticize, thank you.
This movie is listed as public domain and can be downloaded for free at the Internet Archive (Listed as "The Mutant Beast") so you may want to dispute the status with them if you own the copyright. Sorry it won't let me post the link.
this is such a fool movie. Dont waste your time to watch it or waste your money to buy it. Its a movie for kids even though there will be bored also to watch that stupid film
Rumor has it that Milpitas Monster was inspired by the "Monster That Everybody Created" (Peterson High School), which was shown at Fremont High School (Sunnyvale, CA) in 1970. In MTEC created around a year prior, a monster comes from garbage at the Sunnyvale dump. That movie can be seen (soon) on my channel.

Saw it, and I disliked it.
The good thing about this movie is Paul Frees' narration at the beginning and end.

Kids. What are the chances of kids seeing this movie?
Unless they ask parents permission, or watch it with them.
If kids can't see it, maybe because they are too busy with toons on the TV or video games or, NAGGING PARENTS!
