I love your puppy! I thought mine was a red merle, but I think he is a red tri, his red coat is a very solid color... I'm not sure, he's the first dog I've ever had. :P
@BiddiesAntics if it has solid red on the back, then white around the collar, then red on the head (maybe some white markings) then it's a red tri. Google images should help :)

some people dock their dogs tails others dont. basiclly, as a puppy, they cut off the tail because it looks nice. but some are born without tails and have naturally docked tails. others are born with tails, and its up to the breeder to keep the tail or not. other countries, except for america, say its illegal to dock a dog's tails so more of the foriegn dogs from out of this country have tails.
Although, They do dock the tails if its a working dog so it doesn't get caught in the brush, or rocks, or thing like that. If it's a working dog then it's legal because its actually doing the dog a favor in the countries that have outlawed docking. Here though it's mostly for a consistency in the breed.
@Lillyfees Glad you kept the tail! Love Aussies with tails. Unless, of course, they are hunting and running through the underbrush, or whatever reason people say they started multilating puppies.
That dog is so CUTE!! We have an adult red Merle too, and we have him dancing! Check it out! go to Dandelionproductions channel, and its called Awesome Dancing SkillZ
my red merle just gave birth a week ago but they look "blue merle" (white with black spots) is that how red merles look when they're born or is it safe to say the pups are blue merle?
if a dog is gona be a sheperd then they dont want the dogs tail gettin in the way if its not a sheperd then it can keep the tail i hava aussie she got her tail
Aussies are sometimes born without a tail or a partial tail, other are born with a full tail. Its common practice for breeders to dock the tail at a very young age for conformation/practical purposes, making it rare for you to see an aussie with a tail.
"okay, how do i get dis ball outta here, YIP!!!!!...........YIP YIP, YIP!!" lawl, soooooooooo cute, i have two aussies myself, just too cute.

I noticed that its tail isn't bobbed. Did you choose not to have it bobbed?
dandelionproductions 3 years ago
actually, it's just not very common over here, none of the puppies tails were bobbed.

whatsherface04 4 years ago
because australian sheperds are herding dogs so a tail would just get in the way and be a distraction.
joeman8765 3 years ago
most aussie's have their tails docked or are born without them as is the standard.
Corky41190 3 years ago
thanks, I had no clue cause most Aussie's over here still have their tail.
