All stem cells are taken from the patient themselves and cultured for later injection. This procedure has been attempted many times in Europe where such practice is allowed. Howevere, results from patients who had the treatment show that the cells have trouble attaching to the sides of the lumen. This is because the blood flow (stopped by the inflated ballon) can only be stopped for a short period, a period of time not long enough to establish good cell attachment. This kind of surgery is very promising and encouraging but needs further study.
