You made a beautiful video but I just wanted to say that most people with this disorder prefer it to be called DID, and not MPD. And also, it is not an uncommon thing for 16 personalities, there are many more accounts of people with more than 16 personalities, and all the people with DID, call it their System or Family.
I loved your video and can't wait to watch the movie :).
Forgive my terrible words, but a person cannot help but be angry at the mother, and I know no one sure as heck can blame me for being mad. It's my personal belief that child abusers and even rapists be abused the exact same way, that way they could experience the torment they put their victims through. I hope to God convicted rapists get raped everyday in prison, too.
What an evil, terrible, TERRIBLE mother. The problems with Sybil are entirely all her mother's fault. I know the mother may have been schizophrenic, but what she did to Sybil was completely unforgivable. I swear, somebody ought to torture that bitch, somebody ought to stick objects inside of her, fill her bladder using an enema bag, tie her to the piano and make her hold in her liquid until she bursts. Somebody really ought to severely sodomize that bitch and see how she likes it!
@WithAVoiceOfAnAngel3 There is a new book out. It's called Sybil Exposed, by Debbie Nathan. It says that Dr Wilbur invented the personalities after reading books by Dr Sigmund Freud. She wanted to "cure" a multiple.I got my copy of the book from Amazon. I originally was going to borrow it from the library, but they only had two copies and the reserve list was months long.. Believe me. This book is worth reading.
in the book, it said Mattie had lesbian orgies with young girls and molested her daughter, None of this was proved. Dr Wilbur read about multiple personalities and tried to make Shirley think she had them. When Shirley was little, she and her mother played games together, pretending Shirley's name was Peggy. Shirley would daydream about imaginary playmates named Sam and Vicky. Their religion wouldn't allow them to read so Shirley made up stories in her head.
This movie is very good. Based on the book. But the book is a phony. I read a book that was released in 2011, called Sybil Exposed. People from Shirley's hometown were interviewed. Mattie Mason was NOT a schizophrenic. She was depressed, there was no way she went around pooing in peoples yards. They would had been eyewitness accounts. Plus The Mason family were Seventh Day Adventists. It's a strange religion that things eating meat causes sexual preversion, the Masons were vegetarians.
@Sheri451 - So how do you tell if someone is schizophrenic?, I'd wager you may know several yourself and just don't realize it & regardless even the psychiatrists who gave the condition a name have trouble diagnosing people with it.
@IronicallyVague I was only commenting on what the book said. Doctor Wilbur was putting ideas in her patients head. according to the hometown Shirley grew up in people that remembered Mattie said she was depressed, but never did any of the things the book said. If she would had done those things to her child, and went around pooing in the neighbors yards, they would had locked her away and thrown away the key. She would had been put in a hospital for the insane. Dr Wilbur used hypnosis. (More)
@Sheri451 And some kind of a shocking machine on Shirley, drugged her with mind altering drugs and had her believing she was a multiple. But in reality, she was diagnosed with something called Pernicious Anemia, which causes dizzy spells, running into walls, headaches, pains unability to concentrate. Mattie had it also, she went prematuely gray at age 37. Shirley had inheretaed it from her. It comes and goes. Her doctor gave her injections of pigs liver and she felt better. But it returned later
@Sheri451 - That certainly is an interesting theory Nathan has, if true then every diagnosis of DID since Sybil is incorrect and the people suffering are only seeking attention and/or may have some other provable medical condition?..Wow, that's some pretty shocking implications.
I can't speak much on the topic of DID but as far as Paranoid Schizophrenia goes I can say that if you knew me you wouldn't think I have any symptoms, of course I am diagnosing myself though.
@IronicallyVague - But there's a wide rage of people with that illness, some who are the worst off are much more noticeable of course. As an example I could be having a conversation with a Demon and if someone walked into the room I'd then be having a conversation with them..
The point I was trying to make is it's not like you walk around wearing a cape or can be seen yelling at lamp posts..but still symptoms are there
@IronicallyVague My Mom has a half sister with Paranoid Schizophrenia, she heard voices and smelled pipe tobacco when nobody was smoking, she said her room got hot when she would say the names of the horror movies she had, There is a 7-year old girl living in California that was possibly born with Schizophrenia, there was an episode on 20/20 in 2010 about her. They have her on all kinds of medication. And yes, in the book there have been people wrongly diagnosed with DID. And some accused
@Sheri451 Parents and child care workers of raping and molesting children. Back in the 1980s that was widespread. I remember a case that was in a book about a woman in New Jersey named Kelly Michaels that was accused of molesting three and four year old children It all started when one little boy told his Mother Miss Kelly put a thermometer into his butt. He had a fever, A bunch of phychoanalists came in, asked the boy and his classmates "Did Miss Kelly touch your privates?" They all said no
@Sheri451 The psychoanalists kept on interviewing the children, suggesting all kinds of sick things that Miss Kelly did to them, they were told over and over they WERE molested. They tried the woman and she was sentenced to prison. But in the late 1990s she was released due to the children remembering that she did NOT molest them. An entire Childcare about the same time went through the same thing. It was called Little Rascals in New York. They were also released.
@Sheri451 - Well yeah, memory is an interesting topic & we all lie to ourselves to some extent, There isn't a person alive who is the same person they see in the mirror every morning. Fact is if they really saw who was standing there they wouldn't make it thru the day.
There was an event in my life where I was accused of a violent act & although I know I'm innocent I've replayed it over in my mind so many times I'm not sure what the truth is anymore, but yes - memory is fallible
i wish the whole movie was up!! also i wish they showed the nice sites that her mother certainly had. makes it easier to understand. its not black and white. it never is
The book Sybil and the Sybil movies are mostly fiction -- a hoax. Read the true story in Debbie Nathan's book SYBIL EXPOSED, to be published in October 2011 by Free Press/Simon & Schuster in the US.
Thankyou for sharing this...it is amazing what human beings do to each other and heart wrenchingly sad...the insane treatment of this poor woman...lots of tears for her..I just hope her soul is now a rest...all of them !!
I heard that Hattie had Paranoid Schizophrenia. I don't remember if they mentioned it in the books, or not, but that probably played a huge factor with Sybil's abuse, not to mention all of the bottled up rage that she had.
@CeeBayy I do believe she did kill the baby, because of this qoute ".The pervisity of the oddness was also evident when Peggy Lou looked into Hattie's and Willards Bedroom. She saw her mother nude with a Baby Boy inbetween her legs, Sybil's mother lifted the baby boy up and down, rubbing him inbetween her legs." This quote immediately followed the paragraph where she molests the little girl
@dennyrachmat1 Absolutely! I don't think any comparison is necessary (like many here like to do) cuz they come from different eras and are both amazing in their own ways.
What a horrible mother, I want to curl up and sob when Ruthie is crying and explaining what her mother has done, I hope this doesn't offend anyone so I will warn: THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT UNDER THIS WILL BE RATED R!!

Her mother must have been a child rapist, putting her fingers where they certently do not belong!!
I watched the first movie (not this one) in my sociology class, and we just finished it today. I HATE her mother so much! Ruining someone's childhood like that. I cried at some scenes, it was so sad.
Before we watched it, our teacher told us a little bit about the movie and the disorder, what her mother did was worse than I imagined, it scares me what some parents do to their children, especially what happened to her. At least her last few years were peaceful.
i love vicki's personality. she tries to help to make sybil okay and be back to herself and gain respect and love for herself. she helps to make other cooperated with the psychologist. please read the book, its WOW!
Thank you so much, I watched this when I was young with Sally Fields and didnt understand why. Now Im 40 and been diagnosed with Mulitple personality Disorder, I dont know how many or when I change but I do. You see what people who abuse children dont know is by taking what should be a treasured loved childhood away you have killed apart of the real person they would grow up to be, I have miscarried, I am a recovering Alcoholic, divorced manic depressive.. Who cant be loved cuz what is LOVE,
@maaaajj Thank you so much I do trust in God and pray for others who go through this, Help and understanding of personality disorders are hard and im at the moment going through regression which will be hard, and may take years, i try and help other people, If it helps just one person I will tell anyone my story, But there finding more and more personalities. But again it meant a lot that you wished me luck. X
Hey I don't think any of us can say we had the best childhood, heck I know I was mistreated, I used to date a girl who didn't have a split personality, she just lived in a world of her own, I mean the truth, she wasn't that pretty and in fact her father who was very abusive more verbally, which is damaging too told her she was an ugly little girl. But lord knows I loved her and to this day we are friends. My martial arts master who broguth me to Christianity his family were all pro nazi...
Natasha, I was a abused child too and just we comprent the pain inside. And we know this pain is a scare forever on own heart! Actually I´m in medical asistance ´cause nobody understand why I want to die. If my parents.
Thank you so much for sharing this. It was suggested that I see the movie Sybil. I ordered it from Netflix...but I came across this. It was wonderful of you to be a vessel of healing to others that have been abused. Peace and healing to you.
@Tabassumsait Unfortunely Child abuse will never stop. There are some big sicko's having kids and I pray to Jesus that if I ever have kids that may I be the best father I can and give my kids what I didn't have, a father with patience and a good and decent loving caring mom.
Sometimes, I wonder if this is rly a disorder...maybe when we are in some very harsh conditions the body accepts spirits (of ppl that passed away long ago) in the body (to feel less alone in front of the situation) which makes us a conductor for multiple different spirits(that guard us in a way)...its not impossible...if not how can u explain the different paintings?
Oh man, I rly need to find something to do instead of thinking of things like that...
@briannamaner hmm maybe you got something here. You should take this up with the pshycologists that have been working on this disorder for what should be half a century at the least. You will revolutionize the way we think. Or maybe you are just full of shit and spirits dont exist? wake up to the 21st century, strap on atleast a think belt of rationality, and join the human race.
@googoo120 hum im pretty sure i was just saying my thoughts here,or are you just trying to start some shit with everyone who tries to express their thoughts?think before you actually reply to anyone, sir. This thought was a theory, get it?if you dont then go write some negatif responses else where.
Thanks 4 posting bdreamer ... hopefully more shall become enlightened about this very real disorder ... and pray that the madness is stopped (the abuse). God Bless You and bring total restoration to your life and heart. ;)
I don't understand why people don't realize that although their just children, they are also individuals and should be respected as such. The real shame is that some parents don't see that we are here to love, teach and guide our children, they are not our possessions to do what we like with. I see it as borrowed time and it should be cherished not controlled or taken for advantage of. KUDOS to bdreamer4ever for having the courage to speak out against child abuse! GOOD JOB, and take care <3
i went thru a turmatic childhood..and was diagnosed with DID when i was younger. i watched this movie while in thereapy..... i have a deep connection to it. and know firsthand how dificult life can be with this
Sounds like Sybil's father was a Freemason. Freemasons are notorious for being pedophiles because they follow the teachings of Aleister Crowley. Aliester Crowley was a 95th degree Freemason who taught that raping children, mostly young boys will make you live longer, because your stealing their purity/youthfulness in their childhood.
@lambchopclmt, "A male child of perfect innocence and high intelligence is the most satisfactory and suitable victim." -"MAGICK in Theory and Practice"
Aside from teaching child sacrifice & child molestation, he even sexually molested his own children:
"[Rose Kelly] hath given Her two year old bastard boy to her lover’s whim of sodomy...She hath tounged Her five-month old girl, and asked its father to deflower it." -The Magical Record of The Beast 666: The Diaries of Aleister Crowley, Pg 239
@selious04 XD that book was proven non fiction and for entertainment purposes. XD crowley never had any children though it was rumored other wise no such children have ever been proven.
His daughter's name was Lola Zaza born in 1906. His son's name is Randall Gair in 1937. Crowley nicknamed him Aleister Ataturk. (THE GREAT BEAST 666 - A BIOGRAPHY)
"Sodomy is extremely important to the Alpha Lodge...When initiating children, the Alpha Lodge maintains: the younger the better...The key is in the trauma: the complete destruction of the inner spirit." -Aleister Crowley, Of The Bloody Sacrifice: and Matters Cognate (Pt. I), Ch. 12
so her mother abused other girls too!!!!!!!!!! i didnt know that? ohh i would kick the shit out of anyone who touched my daughter that way, torture then kill
There is documentation strongly indicating that the doctor coerced Sybil into inventing personalities. This will probably incense the gullible who believe in wicked witches and what Oprah used on TV to make her fortune. The story of Sybil is morbidly entertaining, but it was a fable.
I agree with you. Because I am a parent myself. As parents/guardians/relatives, we should be the FIRST ONES to protect our "LITTLE ONES". Not hurt them So...
I LOVE Tammy Blanchard!!!!!!!She is so amazing and it shocks me that there is'nt that much stuff of her on youtube. But I LOVE HER!!She was good in me and my shadows too.
so Sybil and those who suffer this disorder switch and alternate personalities when they are under stress?
I read it somewhere and I want to... be sure.
One way to confirm she had a male personality is that just as Sybil and her middle and last name are "SID" so does Shirley Ardell Mason, which is "SAM". Sorry, I found it interesting.
have you ever read "A child called IT" ? I've been reading about that since I found out about this movie. Sybil and David (The kid in the book i'm reading) both have it rough. I found David's more disgusting and mortifying. I think Sybil is horribly sad, It is a very good movie, that I hope to be able to make my teachers have us watch someday :)
My theory with DID (how its devoloped) is when a child is traumitized so bad the orginal person is so shocked that the mind develops these different personalities so it can have new life which it wouldn't
I watch this every time it comes on Lifetime Movie Network. It's something how a human being can change like this when a person that's supposed to love them and care for them abuses them in the worst way that anyone could be hurt. I would never in my wildest dreams imagine that a mother could do this to her own child that she labored with, fed, changed, held their precious little hands when they were learning to walk, and their first smile. People that do this to a child will surely be in Hell.
Thank you for putting this compilation together. It is sad to think about child abuse, the problem with it is the parents often times don't realize what they are doing. God Bless!
and there are millions of mothers just like hers. Mine is also a pain in the ass, I also had been abused by her hands. Thanks to this, I also gained several major problems but thanks to some friends and my own power, I am out of the pit. Especially painting helped me a lot, and now, by the age of 28, I can call myself more or less healthy. I had to pay the price for it, but I am optimistic for the future :)
@gigablega it depends how old the child is, what they have done wrong, and where they are being hit. being hit in the face is just degrading and teaches the child to hate the parent. its sad:(
this movie makes me feel like im gna b ill its so disturbing nd WRONg how a mother cud do tht to her own child!! i am so angry my hands r shaking rite now i...i just think thts awful

Before we watched it, our teacher told us a little bit about the movie and the disorder, what her mother did was worse than I imagined, it scares me what some parents do to their children, especially what happened to her. At least her last few years were peaceful.

-.-'
briannamaner 1 year ago
@briannamaner hmm maybe you got something here. You should take this up with the pshycologists that have been working on this disorder for what should be half a century at the least. You will revolutionize the way we think. Or maybe you are just full of shit and spirits dont exist? wake up to the 21st century, strap on atleast a think belt of rationality, and join the human race.
googoo120 1 year ago
@googoo120 hum im pretty sure i was just saying my thoughts here,or are you just trying to start some shit with everyone who tries to express their thoughts?think before you actually reply to anyone, sir. This thought was a theory, get it?if you dont then go write some negatif responses else where.

I watched both Sybils, (no I don't have multiples)I don't think so anyway............
Sally Field I felt did a great job as well!
The thing I find amazing is that one personality could have to wear glasses, and the other has perfect vision..?
Could a body do this with cancer? Or some other disease? That makes be truly believe, we are not using our potential..
moniacann 1 year ago
Sounds like Sybil's father was a Freemason. Freemasons are notorious for being pedophiles because they follow the teachings of Aleister Crowley. Aliester Crowley was a 95th degree Freemason who taught that raping children, mostly young boys will make you live longer, because your stealing their purity/youthfulness in their childhood.
Fact: Freemasons are Luciferians

@selious04 Yeah freemasons are satanists, God will punish them

@selious04 o.0 aliester crowley taught no such thing, exactly where are you getting your information>
lambchopclmt 1 year ago
@lambchopclmt, "A male child of perfect innocence and high intelligence is the most satisfactory and suitable victim." -"MAGICK in Theory and Practice"
Aside from teaching child sacrifice & child molestation, he even sexually molested his own children:
"[Rose Kelly] hath given Her two year old bastard boy to her lover’s whim of sodomy...She hath tounged Her five-month old girl, and asked its father to deflower it." -The Magical Record of The Beast 666: The Diaries of Aleister Crowley, Pg 239
selious04 1 year ago
@selious04 XD that book was proven non fiction and for entertainment purposes. XD crowley never had any children though it was rumored other wise no such children have ever been proven.
lambchopclmt 1 year ago
@lambchopclmt, Why are you happy to defend him?
His daughter's name was Lola Zaza born in 1906. His son's name is Randall Gair in 1937. Crowley nicknamed him Aleister Ataturk. (THE GREAT BEAST 666 - A BIOGRAPHY)
"Sodomy is extremely important to the Alpha Lodge...When initiating children, the Alpha Lodge maintains: the younger the better...The key is in the trauma: the complete destruction of the inner spirit." -Aleister Crowley, Of The Bloody Sacrifice: and Matters Cognate (Pt. I), Ch. 12

the girl playing sybil is one hell of an actor!!!!
t2ds2dd 1 year ago 2
There is documentation strongly indicating that the doctor coerced Sybil into inventing personalities. This will probably incense the gullible who believe in wicked witches and what Oprah used on TV to make her fortune. The story of Sybil is morbidly entertaining, but it was a fable.

so Sybil and those who suffer this disorder switch and alternate personalities when they are under stress?
I read it somewhere and I want to... be sure.
One way to confirm she had a male personality is that just as Sybil and her middle and last name are "SID" so does Shirley Ardell Mason, which is "SAM". Sorry, I found it interesting.
aLexFongPrettyGirL 1 year ago
I like the older version better, more feeling and realism to it. Especilly the Doc.
In the old one, she seem to be more balanced and tries to sympathise, but in this new version she just seem so...negative and cloaseminded. :\

sybil's mother was an undiagnosed schizophrenic.

have you ever read "A child called IT" ? I've been reading about that since I found out about this movie. Sybil and David (The kid in the book i'm reading) both have it rough. I found David's more disgusting and mortifying. I think Sybil is horribly sad, It is a very good movie, that I hope to be able to make my teachers have us watch someday :)

My theory with DID (how its devoloped) is when a child is traumitized so bad the orginal person is so shocked that the mind develops these different personalities so it can have new life which it wouldn't
Zim804 1 year ago
@Zim804, alternate personalities are developed so the child doesn't have to take the abuse. One of the other ones can.

@gigablega it depends how old the child is, what they have done wrong, and where they are being hit. being hit in the face is just degrading and teaches the child to hate the parent. its sad:(

it's so hard to believe that these personalities come out involuntarily.
It's almost as if MPD's are acting.
The brain works in strange ways to act as a defence mechanism of all those years of trauma.
