Does not your statement, "They are all great in different ways," require comparison? Nevertheless, if you permit me no right to judge Handel greater than Vivaldi, permit me at least to say that the two composers you mention, Mozart and Beethoven, both in their commentary suggest an agreement with me? When Beethoven said Handel was the 'greatest composer that ever lived' I can't imagine he meant any less.

how can anyone make a comparison when their musical styles, harmonic language and sound itself is so very distinct from each other. handel does not sound like bach does not sound like vivaldi. so on what common parameter are you going to gauge the greatness or less of the composers. its a matter of taste and preferance. one may be drawn to vivaldi for his lyricism or bach for his clarity but that purely remains a matter of preferance, not superiority.

While I agree that Vivaldi was a great composer, the notion that he was Bach or Handel's superior is an absurdity that no reputable composer since then would have agreed with.
