Why you losers understand that since Japanese is a foreign language to you, you can't tell whether the voice acting sounds unnatural. @sharklord I'm sorry, not trying to troll you or anything, but that's rather an ignorant comment. An actor's sincerety and emotions transcend the language barrier. Also, language reveals a lot about culture: Japanese relationships, humor, and idioms are subtle nuances that just don't 'translate' well into English. Hence the expression, 'lost in translation.' Besides, the script, animation and performance are all tailored to that language, so the end result is more homogeneous.

English Speaking countries could think a Sub sounds Great, while Japan would think the Voice acting Sucks. We wouldn't know, because we don't speak the language.

@sharklord I see your point. However the voice actors for Rurouni Kenshin are revered. Kenshin's voice especially is beloved for its uniqueness, since he is actually voiced by a woman! Mayo Suzukaze perfectly blended the character's steely resolve, fierceness, humor and compassion. As for whether a performance in any language is good or not, well, it's like anything else in life. How do you know a good wine, or car, or song, or lover from a bad one? Simple: exposure and experience.

And like you said, you need Exposure and Experience to know if something is good or bad, most English Anime viewers Don;t speak Japanese, so then don;t have that "Experience" and "Exposure" You're talking about.
