  • del aires did this much better

  • its too fast....we did it much slower and it sounded a lot better

  • Rubie..that was an ignorant comment.

  • Rubie..that was an ignorant comment.

  • That was the cuttest thing i have ever seen! Go on head my white brothers and sisters!

  • Clapping in the middle of a piece, now that's annoying (imo). Anyway... nice! I wish I could get to play this piece on a Stainway too :)

  • wtfff.this is supposed to be a gospel.not a fhuckin rock jam section.i mean i understand u guys are white but u need to loosen up.who ever was ur director FRICKN SUCKED OKAY!& the soloist is tooo popie(pop). its a black spirtual.black spirtitual there is NONE WHAT SOEVER A ELECTIRIC GUITAR IN IT. wtffff.OKAY U GUYS JUS PLAN SUCKED!

  • what is up with people thinking that only black people can sing gospel!! White people sing it just as good and put soul in it too!! And I've heard a lot of black and white people alike scream trying to sing so lay off!!!

  • What the hell is with the electric guiter??? Its gospel for God's sake.

  • @samrshelley

Blues and gospel actually have pretty similar roots. It's not an abnormal integration lol =)

  • @samrshelley

You could word your comment like this: "It's gospel. For God's sake."

Isn't that what sacred music is about? They could be singing vocables as long as it glorifies GOD! They are singing this song with great heart, why fault them for the director adding (sorry) crappy extra instrumental parts?! I am a former director and am going to guess the director programmed this as either before intermission or the last piece.

Remember. It's Gospel. For God's sake.

  • I love it, personally. And I am a classically trained musician (6 years of classical voice training, along with piano and other instruments). I do think it could have been a bit slower, but I thought you all rocked it...and my hubby, who is a professional musician and worship leader in a large church complimented your voice, Rubie! Especially for a college choir...great job :)

  • i dont really like the girls voice who did the solo, im sorry , shes good but i dont really like it :) i dont want to sound/be rude...

  • @Mjacksonfan11 I don't want to sound rude either, but you are really good at insulting people....even though I don't really like the way you went about it.

  • @nobeesallowed sorry i have an opinnion... human nature, hun.

  • beautiful! we're singing this too! wont be as good as this!

  • No offense or anything, but Y'all suck! My choir did it and it was WAY better! Some helpful hints:

    1) SLOW IT DOWN! It was running away from Y'all.

    2) Get some soul! It's gospel. It's supposed to have a deep south gospel feel to it! This rendition sounded to "white" hollywood!

    3) Soloists, Learn your intervals. And remember with styilazation, LESS IS MORE!

The composer wrote it a certain way for a reason, honor the integrity of the peivc!

  • Yes, the composer did write it a certain way for a reason. If you knew what way this was, you'd know that it's written with a fast tempo, and almost all choirs speed it up way too much. You'd also know that these solos are also meant to be adlib. as in, let them do what they want. they sound fine to me.

oh, and by the way... when did saying "no offense" before saying "ya'll suck" make it okay? yeah, that's right. never.

  • Excuse me, but are you a classically trained musician? Probably not. I happen to be, thank you very much. I have sang this song MANY times, and yes, it is supposed to be Moderato meaning MODERATE! It was just too fast in my professional opinion. Yes, the solos are meant to be inprov, HOWEVER, if one cannot sing intervals, then one mustn't be too over the top when styalizing. If however one can sing intervals well, then they should do more, but when they sound like a dying animal, they should

  • just simply stick much closer to what is written on the page. And the choir was having trouble keeping up with the accompaniment, which means that they were taking it TOO FAST for THEIR ability. I know that my "Y'all Suck" comment was out of line, and for that I apologize, however, for offering FREE PROFESSIONAL CRITIQUE, I don't think that one should cast stones at the judge. If it is not meant to be judged by the public, then perhaps it should not be on a public veiwing websight.

  • NoNotNoww, All that I have left to say to you are these two things, number one, I hope that my choirs NEVER sound like this one, especially not in public, or broadcast for the world to view, and number two, I hope that my students will learn, and have more respect for others than you do. I have admitted my mistakes, now I think that it is time for you to admit yours.

  • this is nice but look up ECMEA all county 2008 He Never Failed Me Yet. Best rendition you'll find on youtube.

  • um......i wont say that they suck.......but they could have done better. im sorry but the soloists just sounded off 87.9% of the time....YALL NEED SOME SOUL IN YA!!!!

  • i personally like it fast, but our men's chorus, the group doing this piece, is doing it slow. hopefully i get to do a solo...

  • too fast but good

our school is doin this song

and im doin the first solo

  • it was kinda too fast, but the soloists were really good

  • Comment removed

  • terrible. im in the SOUTH POINT HIGH SCHOOL CHAMBER CHOIR and we do this 100 times better. Also, we do this yearly and this is our easiest piece.

  • well, congradulations, buddy. way to rup it in. many people who watch homemade chorus videos like this have often sang the piece or are currently singing it, and many of the groups perform these pieces well, based on perceptive. my men's chorus can sing it as well as your chamber choir, as well as this choir, and as well as any choir out there, and that works both ways...

  • dont hate on the soloists! they were great. its just strained cuz its so fast

  • why is this so fast?

    way to ruin it.

  • I actually got to sing one of the improv solos in the LDS tabernacle. Great song!

  • we sang this my sophomore year and now i am a freshman in college.

  • my choir sang this my freshman year..its way to fast but its sounds great!

  • We also did this song for a competition our freshman year. The tempo is a little fast.

  • great soloists!

  • it was really fast. rdyc sang it a lot better. i sang the solo didnt my god deliver moses from king pharoeh so much better. the soloist just sucks.

  • I really dislike people who comment just so they can talk about themselves and how amazing they are.

Congratulations, you got to sing 10 measures all by yourself.

  • lol....I like your sense of wit

  • sorry the tempo was a little fast for me.

  • I'm only 13 years old and I sing BOTH solos so much better! My whole MIDDLE SCHOOL chorus does better than you guys!

  • someones a little cocky there gees

  • I maybe cocky, but I'm also right!

  • Comment removed

  • What the Heck are you talking about?

  • Wow! I have the small solo "No matter what the test." and I wasn't sure as to how to do it and you showed me that I can do it the way I wanted. Thanks! :)

  • wow. this is done so well.

also the pianist is rockin the keys

  • Our choir did this better. U guys did it way it to fast and i just did not like it at all.

  • it's too slow otherwise. this is the perfect tempo.

  • You may not appreciate it fast, but if you look at the score, the tempo is allegro.

  • Comment removed

  • I luv the second souloist!! she is good!

    Very Ni everyone

  • so far best version i have found on here. The song was originally supposed to be fast paced but more smooth on the longer notes. Thats the only area i see for improvement. Also the choir could be a little more raeactive throughout the enitre song. Job well done!!!

  • this is really really fast wow.

  • Great job! You did fantastic on the solo!! My choir is singing this song and I really enjoy singing it and i hope you did too.

  • Okay this is prettie good but WTF the girl in the who did the solo 'no matter what the test' was chewing gum when she was singin it! YOU DONT CHEW GUM WHEN YOU SING! all singers should know that!!!!!

  • That girl is me and no i did not chew gum so get your eyes checked.

  • you don't even look like you're chewing gum. BTW, FANTASTIC job on you solo!

  • Comment removed

  • I'm pretty sure there were only 2 soloists, and they both rocked it out. Count much?

  • Comment removed

  • uhm, excuse me? this is a gospel song. and that's really disrespectful. I don't even care if you posted this a year ago. I can't believe no one has mentioned it before.

  • Wow. That is amazing!! My choir is doing this song. I can't wait.

  • I have not seen a better rendition of this song. It is the BEST. I think it would be a great compliment to say these fine young girls sang it like the black sisters would do. Naturally, they aren't black and can't do it 100%, but in their attempt amde this song the most inspirational as possible. I can't wait for someone to email me with a better attempt at this awesome song. I trust it will take an all black choir with soul sisters belting out the solo's. God bless.

  • shit, way too fast.

  • screaming during the vamp... doesn't make it sound black either... and what was ya'll doin at the end... if that's ya'lls view of gospel music and how black people sing... ya'll need to come to church with me lol.

  • We're white. Give us a break!

  • so is this done by a university or a high school

  • You two sound black!!!! Awesome job with those solos! My choir is singing this song for our pops concert and its gonna be awesome.

  • they sound nice... but "black" isn't the adjective i'd used... not all black people swoop and sweep their notes... i do on occasion... but some us black people don't... they sound like american idol material... thats what i'd call them.

  • yeah i agree now that you point that out :)

  • Well, musically, this is really well done, but its a gospel! Where's the soul?

  • this song sounds so much better when its fast. this version may be like, a SMIIIIDGE too fast but other than that, i went through most of the videos of this song and this is my favorite one; it gave me chills. That first soloist kicks ass. I LOVE THIS SONG!!

  • BTW I think The adlib at the end was way out of control But Jen And I did a good job because The tempo was faster than we rehersed... give us some credit... we had to wing it.

  • Hey Thats Me! I didn't think I was on Youtube...(the second soloist. Jen was the first, she did so wonderfully!)

  • I sang this for findlay choir. The tempo is different but I think its tough when you go this fast you tend to get carried away and not be able to hold it. Still love the song though. Thanks for posting

  • Because there's a Dr. Joe sized hole in this choir.

  • Oh, Dr. Miller, where have you gone?

  • I think it is better fast too slow and it is a dirge.

  • This is way too fast and the director should have thought is through. This is more pop than spiritual when my choir sang it this year we did really good and a pastor wanted us to sing it for his congregation Think things through first.

  • sorry but this really is NOT the right tempo......it's fine to want to make it a tad faster to make the performance energetic...but this is like singing a piece from a circus...thats what it sounds like...i only just sang with 400 people this song with an AMAZING jazz soloist tonight...all of the version of this on youtube do not match what happened tonight. oh well. :)

  • um...wow. TOO FAST. the choir had good blend though. the solists need a little work.

  • good job collegiates!!!

  • Of all the great songs on this concert.... this one was posted. It's like a divine Joke.

  • i love this song! we sang it last week at the church. this version is way too fast though. i didnt care for the soloist that much. i think they're too pitchy and oversang it specially when their doin the adlib but the whole choir is AWESOME!

  • I met Robert Ray the other day at a spiritual workshop

  • this is awful. The song should be incredibly slow and full of emotion, which builds to intensity with a stong influence of soul. This is just terrible. The soloist was so off pitch. what was the director thinking. Why would you post this.

  • I COMPLETELY AGREEE WITH YOU!!!! Thank you for having a brain!

  • the score was written to be fast.

  • I have no problem with the tempo. Who the hell said soul music had to be slow? I think this tempo lends itself well to this piece. The drums on the other hand, that is something I could do with out. The soloists also try way way to hard. they should both work more to blend their head and chest voices. These types of pieces always kill young singers in respect to that. I love this piece and think your choir did a great job. Not as good as my choir but still good none the less.

  • good job and all but yeaa tempo= wwaayy too fast.. slow it down a tad bit :]

  • I liked it till the end... when the soloists started to sound like they were screaming especially the one to the right .... good over all except for the soloists

  • Do it how you wanna do it!!! You gotta love the song though!

  • you need to feel the music

  • okay slow down ppl way is this song so fast...lol....sweetapoloonia is right it should be soulful its a gospel

  • It's way too fast. The tempo should be soul-ful, with a slow, yet pepped beat. The singers & pianist did wonderfully. However, the conductor needs to just slow it down.
