  • No soup for you

  • hearts and minds i guess.. too bad that crap doesnt work with iraq and afghanistan.. they obviously want no part of anything american over there..

  • Nek minnit

  • LOL, there was no German history before Bismark! It's hard to get Americans and Englishmen to hate Germans, because so many Americans and Englishmen ARE Germans.

  • @kevinwalsh1619 Haha yea. All real germans left and kicked everyone out of gaul before becoming france. After that literaly nothing happened until the late 19th centuary in original germany

  • the movie is very interesting and it should be a lesson for us all , they now are the most powerfull country in Europe and the people are very smart , if people respect them they can bring a lot of good things to the world there is no need for war to push things ahead

  • I had to watch this before I gone to Germany for vacation.

  • Fortunately, chapter 4 wasn't inked.

  • holy shit The German Empire grew through conquest? my fucking god i never realized Imperialist powers grew through war!

  • "You could lay the groundwork for a new war to come." That kinda did happen, with the Cold War.

  • It was kind of funny when Goebbels magically disappeared.

  • When they were listing the German WWI conquests, and announced France, they showed the Cathedral of Louvain, which was actually in Belgium.

  • @chouyi007 I was just about to ask what cathedral that was. I wasn't aware of any major French cathedrals being burned out in WWI.

  • Funny how all that changed when the cold war heated up.

  • All of this now applies to USA criminal state.

  • I love propoganda!!! At least that's what I've been told.

  • It's not safe to go out...it's not right to stay home...he said, "My advice...is to carry a gun..."

  • They showed this film on my Lufthansa flight to Hamburg last year. Still holds up after all these years.

  • Only 26 years after WWI they say?! Wow..thats really close.

  • @hellotelephone1 26 years is very close

  • And what is with an video: Your Job in America ? (Afghanistan, Iraq ..... there must be an end!)

  • There were no attacks on allied soldiers after VE Day.

  • The great irony of this film is that they sons (& now grandsons & even great grandsons) of those WWII soldiers wound up going to Germany. It was considered one of the plummest assigments one could pull. A very strange thing.

But this can not be considered propaganda. It was meant as an informational & practical video preparing troops for occupation duty. No one had any idea what would happen. Most thought WWIII would begin immediately w/ the Soviets.

  • @VictorLepanto Ummmm sooo why can it not be considered propaganda?

  • this video is so true

  • I am a firm believer that people do change, but for a reason this propaganda still holds true these days. Not just specifically for germany tho.

  • @ 9:29 the world conquest disease. Apparently it is contagious.

  • Im american and the Germans are my favorite people. I look up to them.

  • The non-fraternization policy in Germany was a failure almost from the outset. The GI's liked the German people better than any Europeans they'd met except the Dutch. And it was virtually impossible for GI's NOT to make friends with kids - and vice versa! In the end, the non-fraternization policy was never officially ended - it simply disintegrated.

  • @MelosAntropon yeah everyone loves the dutch

  • Designers of western propaganda knew well the effects of propaganda on youths, they still show children between 2'd and 6'th grade propaganda videos designed to make them hate & fear communism and socialism, designed to be tedious and build associations at an emotional level by use of imagery, tone, and musical numbers that shift from festive to somber and menacing.

They stop showing these videos after the 6'th grade because children start retaining details and questioning what they're taught.

  • @Laughingblades Once people understand that Communism means more government, it usually turns them off of it. ;P

  • @Laughingblades The American media is too liberal/conservative to be biased. One says one thing, the other totally different.

  • "Aw hell, this is where we came in!"

"Yeah.... this is where we came in..."

  • Funny, most Republicans are doing the same to Muslims....

According to Fox News, all Islamist want to destroy me, you, your faith, and rape our women....

  • holy shit is that rens voice actor right around 4:00????

  • @panamapax Another Austrian-born Führer, eh?

  • yeah, every empire is built in blood- dumb asses

  • @Jakethesnake1281 so america is not an empire???

  • Any one else find it ironic that this video starts out to a German song (Beethoven's Ode to Joy), but in all seriousness, the saddest part about this video is that when Hitler first started using propaganda to make the jews, blacks, gypsies, and cripppled people look inferior to the "higher race" they were simmilar, but somewhat milder than this ( and videos like this are being shown to people in other countries around the world to turn them aginst others).

  • i look forward to when people will stop critisizing germans, ive heard enough hate towards german people, i cant stand it, im german decent, sure there are a few things in german history i cant exactly be proud of, but we learn from our mistakes, and im terribly sorry if you feel that we cant be trusted, but ill have you know a bit of history, the only reason hitler was elected was because he offered free beer paid for by the nazi party to anyone who would vote for him. so we arent all bad.

  • Well that "some day" that the video mentioned was 4 years later, lol. As soon as the we thought that the Soviet Union was a worst threat. All the talk about the bad Germans, and never trusting them went away quick. There's not enough characters in this box to explain how the history really was.So I'll just say that the recounting of German history here, was full of mistakes, and or,half truths as to be hopeless in understanding Germany in the period 1870-1945.

  • @AXS512 But what do you expect from a Propaganda film? The whole point of propaganda is that it's not a full story its enough of a story to make people think the way the creators want them to think.

  • At the time this video was perfectly true...the germans had bin in that cycle of surprise attacks...then peace....surprise attacks...peace...like cowards....for almost 100 years....not to mention what they allowed to happen in the concentration camps alone makes them unworthy to even have their own nation(at the time)

  • At the time this video was perfectly true...the germans had bin in that damn cycle of surprise attacks...then peace....surprise attacks...peace...like cowards....for almost 100 years....not to mention what they allowed to happen in the concentration camps alone makes them unworthy to even have their own nation(at the time)

  • @Leninslineage You just described Russia. And your beloved Lenin. All governments are evil, why? because they are run by man and man is evil.

  • My dad was a low ranking officer in the MI5 and was sent into Germany in 1946 to round up stray Nazis. Occupied Germany was in ruins and another war was the last thing they wanted. Their leaders lied to them and they were shells of human beings. This propaganda was the worse kind of ass gravy. The US came up with all kinds of crap to keep their claws in Europe.

  • This was a really good propaganda movie.

  • After the War there were a group of German partisians called the Weherwulfs who attached Allied Troops. Most Germans were tired of six years of war so this movement never went very far.

  • @Talltrees84 The only thing the Weerwolves accomplished was assassinating the mayor of Aachen.

  • Amazing all Americans should watch it and learn the truth.

  • one day!

  • This kind of poison is not uniquely american, , ive beeen watching propanda films for about an hour now on youtube. But dont take my word for it..see for yourself..

  • Germans today still hate Americans believe me.

  • @smokndarasta What if it is because of videos like this?

  • @smokndarasta Who doesn't?

  • I can see why Patton hated this.

  • Why oh why didn't we have this same kind of situational awareness after the fall of Saddam's Iraq. Not that we should have gone there in the first place but if we had it would have been better to have FDR and Truman in charge. Likewise Afghan. Have to laugh at the fraternization part tho--lots of Americans born c.1946 on have German moms.

  • I love the quotes of the National anthem, and Bismarck being misconstrued.

  • And Chapter 4? A new Führer: David Hasselhoff. With a new title: Hooked on a feeling.

  • Those darn toymakers....

  • I see nothing false or misleading in this video. I have found no untrue statements or supositions. Every single word was spot on the money. Great info.

  • I like how he says in the video "We poured in our sympathy". HA! I guess the Treaty of Versailles is they're "sympathy".

This video is bogus. Thanks for posting it though shows what people really thought of Germany. Sad...

  • @tylerpharaoh1989 you've already cost your life

  • @tylerpharaoh1989 You are such a moron. The Treaty of Versailles was pre World War II. Poor moron.

  • Anyone else totally lulzing over the irony that they played GERMAN composer Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" at the exact moment when the film shouts out Americas victory over Germany?

  • @alphatotheomega7 you are right! i noticed that immediately!

  • @alphatotheomega7 you are right! i noticed that immediately!

  • @alphatotheomega7 that's irony

  • @alphatotheomega7 Frank Capra wasn't an idiot. He was completely aware what he was doing. Germans celebrated Hitler's birthday with Beethoven's 9th. Likewise at 4:26, the warm and fuzzy Tannhauser bit. Conscious irony all of it.

  • @alphatotheomega7 Hmm, there's debate over whether Beethoven was really a German or Austrian.

  • @yTubeBlowsBigBalls

Beethoven was from Bonn, which is close to Belgium and not far from France and Holland. He was closer to being Dutch if anything. His title was "van", "not von", which suggests this. He once lived in Austria, and admired both Haydn and Mozart. Schubert was Austrian and he was around at roughly the same time as Beethoven.

  • @alphatotheomega7 I love that when the said "The United States" they showed the german Armoured Cruiser Blucher capsizing at heligoland bight.

  • @alphatotheomega7 And then "Victory leads to peace. Sometimes NOT." I think they had that in mind 8-) Funny video lol

  • im german and this has to be the funniest shit ive ever watched!!

  • Would you rather the Russians have occupied all of Germany instead? Get real

  • Hungary does the same thing with the neighbouring countries - Romania, Slovakia, Serbia, etc. in the name of the "cruel and injust" treaty of Trianon where the Austro-Hungarian empire collapsed and these nations took their lands back. There are literally tones of propaganda vids denigrating these nations. And yet youtube does nothing no matter how many flags these vids have.

  • NO-- NOT THE TOYMAKERS!!!

  • @Ollieshini ...YES EVEN THE TOY MAKERS!!!

  • @ElZappata ESPECIALLY THE TOY MAKERS!

  • War is such an incredibly sad and horrifying human obsession.

  • @AllKnowingCreator

Even at the outbreak of WW2, the Germans were still very weak militaristically (compared to France, Britain) and economically as a result of the injustice of the Versailles treaty over a war they did not start. Whats truly interesting is that they did as well as they did. Their loss to combined forces by attrition was inevitable.

Socialism is simply the idea that working people ought to be in control of production. You seem to be arguing against authoritarianism, not socialism

  • 5:47 Obviously the empire from star wars was based off of the Nazis.

  • Humans are fucking idiots.

  • What a nice advice they were giving to American soldiers: "Do not associate with German children!" I sincerely hope they didn't :-)

  • @vweltz

There is no record of an American GI laying a finger on a German child.

  • @OrodesIII "Records" keep out the gruesome details (the stuff the Government doesnt want you to see)

  • Firstly this was made only a year after the end of the bloodiest conflict in human history, started by Germany. Secondly the video clearly ordered the soldiers to be respectful of Germans. Thirdly this is nothing compared to the attitude of the commies in the east, who literally raped Germany.

  • Just remember what Germans did to russia though...

  • it seemed to have worked

  • This is not a totally unfair view of the Germans. The Germans have all been an extreme group of people, they have always felt that they have been a superior people. Now, I'm not saying that we should start invading them because their evil, because a lot of people around the wolrd are like this.

  • @TheBBQribs Do you understand the difference between a group of people, and a government? Hint: They are not the same thing.

  • @TheDataDiva Who elects the Governments? Hint: the people do...

  • Lol Those bastard Germans! Of course some of this is kind of funny now, but I understand the sentiment and the seriousness of it then. It was overly cautious, but we needed to be because of all the shit that had happened. They didn't want to take any chances of being too friendly at the time. I'm glad I got to be stationed in Germany MANY years after the War and had a really good experience.

  • you have to remember this was made in 1946 a year after the war was over

  • Thanks. That was very interesting history. It must have been creepy serving in immediate post-war Germany. Some of the worst murderers in human history were walking the streets and it took some time to find them. It was good advice for it's time. The US attitude towards rebuilding Germany saved Germany. The other Allies wanted to destroy Germany permanently.

  • did he say stormtroopers around 5:00- 6:00?

  • It's funny because today roughly 60 million Americans are ethnically German. There are more people living in the United States with ancestral heritage from Germany than any other nation. They even have the Irish beat.

  • So we brought over high level nazis to work in everything from NASA to Pharmaceuticals (Merck for instance) - Including the Koch Bros dad who worked for Stalin THEN Hitler - and everyone wonders where our constitution went?

  • this is deep :

  • @mk3238 I love the American Conservative attitude of "EVERYTHING WHO'S BETTER THAN US SHOULD DIE!" You're just jealous that they figured out how to create a successful, socialist government and economic structure while the US is still struggling with the concepts of "rich people should pay more taxes than poor people", "should gay people have rights", and "unregulated businesses who control every aspect of everything and are widely responsible for our situation are better than the government".

  • @Cainus44 Name one successful socialist government. Toady Europe is economically moribund and is trapped and in a fatal ponzi scheme.

  • @suspicious35 Burkina Faso was highly successful under Thomas Sankara until a French colonialist-backed coup d'etat murdered him. But I feel like I'm wasting my time, because whenever I give this example to libertarian/conservative ideologues it goes in one ear and out the other. There are no socialist countries in Europe, if we use the proper definition of socialism, which is worker's control over production, instead of the trite modern definition of "has free health care."

  • @suspicious35 Eh, the Peoples Republic of China, I hear they own the USA debts now...

  • What a nice phrase 05: 38 "The gestapo gangsters" I like how he says it, so american! =)

  • Epic

  • This may seem pretty bleak and unfair. But contrast this to Bush's "Mission Accomplished" attitude towards Iraq. Makes the Greatest Generation seem a whole lot smarter.

  • Things sure do look bleak in Whooville.

  • lol 0:23

  • The Germans and the backstabbing French won in the end. NEVER ENTER THE EU. BRITAIN STRONG.

  • What else do you expect from war propoganda?

  • One mistake, Germany was not occupied after WWI, which is why the Nazi's had an easier time to come to power.

  • @stuka52 Indeed, Roosevelt knew that Wilson was incompetent when it came to foreign affairs. He vowed to abandon Wilson's mistakes and even helped reconstruct the army-less League of Nations into the armed UN; his cousin Theodore also called Wilson a "drugstore clerk." It's funny that Capra-who you think would've been a liberal with the anti-corruption theme in Mr Smith Goes To Washington and the anti-banker theme in It's a Wonderful Life- was in private a supporter of Hitler's ally Mussolini

  • "you are going up against... GERMAN HISTORY!"

AAAUUGH!! I haven't been so afraid of a history book since my graduation exam.

  • i didn't know i was still a nazi and can't be trusted....lol. nah despite this scheemy and rediculous propaganda movie, the americans were more than awesome and definetly mingled with the rest of us germans. actually made a ton of friends and even visited them in the us. and now im married to one of the allies lol.

  • this video is very degrading... and in no way 100% true. >:( i'm a proud German.

  • THIS IS RETARED NAZI ARE GONE FOR GOOD FUCKER

  • What is the name of that song in 4:44?

  • What is the name of the music playing at 2:54?

  • "why these people are ok, it was just that Kaiser we had to get rid of"

  • I want to do a German girl.

  • Never trust the Hun.

  • We should be producing videos like this but changing the word Nazis and Germans by Muslims and Islamofascists. And those videos should shown to our children from first grade. The history of terrorism and murder was not created by so called radical Muslims but by ALL Muslims on the planet. They are enablers so we should never clasp that stinky hand in friendship.

  • @apocalipsis82 Change the word Nazis and Germans for Tea Partiers and Republicans. What you propose is just like more Nazi propaganda. Muslims are the new Jews in this country. And you're falling for the same hate speech they did. There are a billion and a half muslims on the planet --if you were right there'd be none of us left. One thing about bigoted morons -they're bad at math.

  • @sinistar99

No, Tea Partiers don't have the balls to start vicious street brawls and region-wide civil wars with Communists like the Nazis did. They're just little old ladies in tennis shoes and the "awe shucks" "Leave it to Beaver" crowd.

Until the yellings and rantings of the general public, easily led by the same politicians they bitch and reelect, lead to the willful and calculated murder of 12 million people, disregard everything that comes from their mouth and mind.

  • @sinistar99 People like you need to die. You are a good example of what's bringing this country to it's knees. You are the kind of person who would voluntarily walk into a prison and slam the door on himself. The muslims need idiots like you, but secretly laugh at you for being so easily lead down the well of death. I wish I could do the deed. We don't need pussies like you in America.

  • @apocalipsis82 are you serious? ALL Muslims? you know Al Qaeda is the one responsible for the terrorism right? That's like saying all the white people should be wiped off the planet because a group of men in Oklahoma gangbanged some chick.

  • Hell, i'm leaving right now! Didn't you hear the man?? Stormtroopers! By the thousands!!!

  • that film scares !!!

  • the propaganda tactics are still the same in this modern age although some techniques may have been evolved all these years. DAMN

  • 6:24

Those fucking toymakers. I HATE THEM SO MUCH!

Truly they were the third Reich's right hand!

  • Así es la guerra: la terminas y luego terminas paranoico. Lo triste es que el mundo entero debió aprender la lección que dejó la Segunda Guerra Mundial, pero aun así seguimos viendo como otros humanos se matan entre sí estúpidamente.

  • Seacrest out!

  • did they get the title wrong?

  • Sure, its a xenophobic and an unfair view of Germans. But American treatment of Germans after the war was outright charitable, compared to the other allies. Its no secret that the Russians raped Eastern Germany of its assets - feminine, financial and industrial. The British were even more condescending and harsh in their view of Germany (Can you blame them?) The French occupied the a small corner of Germany and exploited its assets shamelessly. But America gave West Germany the Marshall Plan.

  • @Eszpresszo Yes but the Marshall plan was fought for by british foreign secretary Aneurin Bevan. Marshall may have been the father of the plan but Bevan was the midwife.

  • 6:08 They were discussing their plans for a picnic that afternoon.

  • Unidirectional vision of Germany.

  • This video was more of an information movie than a propoganda movie, because we the western world. Everything in it was true, and due to this policy, there was no more war in europe after WWII

  • @Tomacomo LOL and the war against former Yugoslavia, was that just a bad dream?

  • Is this the same reason why The US is still in Germany?

    :D

  • @chica476 Yes.

  • "you are up against more than tourist history, you are up against...

    GERMAN HISTORY!"

    LAWL!! So over the top.

  • yeap this was amerrican propaganda... but wait is really nearly to the awful truth! Germans are nice but please no more wars!

  • lol phony peace

  • @dairyburrymarry : I LOLed at 10:00 the war phony peace war phony peace war phony peace chorus

  • This is the worst American propaganda I've ever seen and I've seen some bad ones...not only is it morally wrong but factually as well. Luckily the American occupation force changed their strategy so as not to make the German people bitter toward them or things like this might have influenced further aggression.

  • u will equip urself with a plastic bag to shit in, a comic magazine to laugh at, a bottle of american air, some pictures of "german looking" american chicks, so tht german beauties won't deceive u. Have a nice day in Germany.

  • american troops are still in germany because the germans chose not to have an army... they could be independent, but the germans rather americans pay for military protection

  • @datawraith3080 Germany's had a strong army since the 50s again lol, what are you talking about ? The americans were stationed in germany to fight the russians during the cold war. And they are partly still there to provide a basis in europe for operations in africa/middle east etc.

  • @Fr4nkWh1te don't forget Germay allies where with iran and other middle east powers at the time and all wars started by germany after all the past wars we thought germany was not a country to worry about but after each war they proved world wrong as wars show germany was the cause..could there be a world war 3 and could germany be the country that starts that as well,,maybe we should look back at history..maybe not.

  • Aw, hell! This where we came in!

  • ...And fortunately we're free and dominated (culturally and economically) by a fat-hamburger-eaters-country.Wow!

  • no fraternization, no friendships? Wow was the idea to make the German people hate the Americans?? LOL. And this video really worked out well- cause alot of soldiers got German girlfriends/wives/baby mommas almost overnight. Bravo propaganda movie.

  • Funny. A good friend of my family was a guard at Nuremberg. And occupied Germany after the war. He married a German girl and brought her back to the USA and stayed married for over 55 years. She was a very nice person. And her whole family was Nazis. They had a friend who did the same thing.

  • Guess we took this pretty seriously, seeing how we're still there. ;)

  • lol, sympathy after World War 1. Anyone who has ever read the Treaty of Versailles knows what a bunch of trash that was. The people were so sucked of their wealth by France and Great Britain that they were burning their money.

  • i´m german and i love this (satire)video xD....no,for real - be afraid! new slogan:

"sauerkraut and wiener schnitzel 4 the win >:D " ...

propaganda on all sides was/is so stupid ^^

  • Love that scene ''Hitler- out.''

  • I guess that means they couln't have any apple strudel, weiner schnitzel, or sour kraut with dumplings and beer those soldiers must have been upset the whole time they were there.

  • That means they could't have any apple strudel, weiner schnitzel, sour kraut with dumplings and beer, our soldiers must have been pissed off man.

  • Since I have a lot of friends who have German mothers and or grandmothers and fathers or grandfathers I guess the propaganda film makers should have put you will not marry them. That was an epic fail.

  • they call them fuhrer but there not really

hitler was called fuhrer cuz he had all the power

and fuhrer only means leader in german i can be the fuhrer from my art class

  • when they were listing allies from ww1 they did not mention japan

  • Has anyone else noticed that the EU is near enough german run?

  • @fiddleandcatz Yeah, the three most powerful countries are France, UK and germany, while all the other ones are in serious trouble, like Spain, italy, portugal.

  • lol this is pretty tame actually, considering how fresh the memory of the war was. I wonder what this film would have looked like if the Germans had won. I don't think respecting local customs and property rights would have been of high priority.

  • I like the spiked helmets.

  • Obviously they did a good job cause today Germany is one of the few morally serious countries in the world.
