Wow these look great. Do you need a kiln to make one of these? I don't have one, but would love to make one of these beads.. I would have thought the heat inside would get trapped and the bead would crack? But obviously it doesnt, is this because you have a kiln? lol
Hi maxineey! No, these were made without a kiln. Yes, the hot air is trapped inside, this is why the bead gets so big and round - the hot air inside inflates the bead as if you would blow up a balloon.
sorry ive taken soooo long to reply, Ive only just worked out how to see replys to messages ha! and since then ive made 1..just 1, by chance i think cos all the others ive made havent worked :( the hollowness just shinks until its a tiny hole on one side of the bead! and they look rubbish, oh well, must practice more! thanks for the reply! :)
Hi! If they shrink, you might have a small hole somewhere (either in the disks, or where the disks join, or at the mandrel - if the release broke). Then the hot air cannot inflate the bead. Try to check the bead for holes before you start to heat it up.
oh hollow beads are wonderful! have you ever tryed starting with 3 and then connecting the outter 2? thats really fun cause u get a bead inside of a bead. ( its a killer to clean though!)
Thank you for the careful and beautiful videos and flamework you make!

Hi! No, I haven't done a "Mum-bead" as we german speaking lampworkers call this, yet. Mostly because of the cleaning...
