Analogue synths had a much better rudimentary sound...they sounded raw...a lot edgier and much less contrived...amazing song..performance and from my youth...Futurism!!!!
cute, how nervous he is and today he is one of the best and poised frontmen and livepeformer ever. so there is a hope for everyone... equal, where he comes from. stupid discussion, by the way ...
Noooo....How can you say that?! Dave's so full of life and "joi de vivre" in these early videos. Nowadays he seems so...I don't know, can't find the word now. Tired, worn out (is that the correct expression? I'm Swedish, so you have to forgive me for my poor spelling and use of expressions). Not surprising of course, considerring the things he've been through.
I'm not saying he's no good now, he is, but I think it's more fun and heartwarming to watch him when he was younger!
I really understand what you mean!People always get angry with me when I say such things about Dave, but it´s the truth!I still love him,but his energy is not as high as it was in the younger years of him!

Nice to see that I'm not the only one with this opinion! As I said, it's not so surprising, Dave have had a lot of problems...And recently he was admitted to hospital, "stumach problems". I suspect he's on drugs again...
This is an answer to "takemedave", if I don't manage to do right.

Until these early DM videos started appearing on Youtube I always thought it was Vince who played lead synth like Alan who replaced him. However it seems that Martin is the one who did all the live donkey work back in the early days!
So awesome to see footage of Vince with the boys. Too much talent for one room.
Love it!!!

Great performance. The only downside is that they couldn't produce that crashing electronic noise just before the instrumental.

Vince Clarke used to play with Depeche Mode. Later he formed Yazoo (Yaz) and then Erasure. He is actually in this video.
(Before Alan Wilder took over).

This electronic music from the early 80's is UN stoppable! Makes me quiver like nobody's business.
Such an amazing track and era for music. Life will never be the same as it was again.
