Leona bores the living hell out of me. I have tried countless times to try and like her singing, but I just cant with her. She has no soul, nor personality in her vocals. Its just there. She also sounds like she's holding her nose the entire time she's singing. Her albums are just one big headache to listen to.

I find Leona a bit boring to be honest. She has talent (although not as much as Mariah, imo) but all her ballads sound the same (besides Bleeding Love, that was pretty good).

Mariah's vocals aren't great as they were in her prime (90's). She's getting older, and with all that singing she's done, of course her voice is going to begin wearing out. I must say, that Leona is nothing compared to Mariah in her prime.

of course! there is no even point in comparing. In fairness to leona, her c5 sounds really comfortable. it is within her ranged but if id picture her voice, it depletes after 65 and it begins to sound strained unlike mariah who has equal force width in every register. and no one is much amazing than her. Leona looks like a drag queen and mariah is a hot vixen. but leona has that goddess presence at first blush.

although mariah has more range and is also good in that department i like leona's head voice more...she just seems more comfortable, more agile than mariah and her sound is just so angelic and fluttery that it sounds unreal....but when it comes to belting i just have to give it to mariah cause she sounds fuller and more stable...but both of these women are amazing vocalists, really...i couldn't say that much separates them...

No, the Eb6 in this video is not whistle, its head voice. You should have included Mariahs Eb6 in head voice instead, just to make it fairer. Well, there is a gap between D3 and C5 lol.

Two of my favourite singers out today. I prefer Mariah because of the dynamics of her voice and the power but Leona is an amazing vocalist in her own right - Mini Mimi is what I call her lol. Great video!

Leona does have a gift. She has a certain magic quality that reminds me of Aaliyah. But she needs to work on her pitch. She is so inconsistent when she sings and is always flat.

It's the tone of her voice that makes her sound flat; she has a nasal quality. I love her though and every time I see her, I see the world of potential for her to become one of the greatest in her generation.

Really? I have noticed the nasal quality, but she's usually on pitch in her head voice and that's about it. But her tone fluctuates from pitch to pitch. It reminds me of how a certain someone sounded when singing Run to You at a tribute (wink wink). But she does have potential, but she can be so bland. And she needs to learn how to phrase and how to build a song. She and Beyonce are this generation's Whitney and Mariah, but not as good lol!

Aaliyah's vocals were perfect enough as it is. She had a rich contralto, a decent enough belting range (she belted a F#5 without strain) and a great head voice. And she had that old school R&B soul.

Most people don't give her credit as a vocalist. Though she's not with us anymore, if she was, she could sing cricles around most of the chicks in the game today. She was the one who combined pop with that old-school R&b sound THE BEST! Many have tried, none have come close IMO!
