I was told that i have Type One diabetes, July 16, 2003. I was age 6. I take 6 shots a day. You don't see it just looking at me, because its inside of me. Type 1 does not make u fat, it makes you sick. Taking insulin takes care of that. Yes i can have carbs and sugar, but only when i take a shot. Dont say type 1 makes u fat, or will make u die, or makes u lose a leg, or go blind. Take ur insulin, and u wont have that. eat right, and u wont get fat.

i am a type two diabetic... its hard living with diabetes cuz it controls ur life and everything u do.. its tru diabetic need sugar but to much can kill.. im a boarder line diabetic meaning my blood sugar can be either high or low it changes when it wants.. i dont take insulin or meds but im gonna haft to start considering it put me to sleep for 3 nd a hafe days diabetes ruined my life but im dealing with them cuz i cant get rid of them. diabetes is a serious thing and u dont want it trust me

don't worry I have had it for 20 years, type 1, but it's really not a bad thing to joke about because it helps me get through it. oh sweet, haha pun intended for those who have diabetes. haha yeah I agree it should be more accurately depicted but humor is a must or it gets waaay too depressing, I hate that I have this disease but like the moral of the show is supposed to be it's to say don't let something like this slow you down, don't give up because you have a chance to live a great life if you take care of yourself. in a way this little rap does make sense.

Disney have realised that they got the facts wrong, which is why No Sugar, Sugar wasn't released in most countries. Some people have done good VidFits (Taking words and characters have said previously to translate other languages)of it, but there is one bit in all of the videos which nobody can translate, but it's only for a few seconds at the end.

I didn't like this epi... there wasn't one finger prick or anything, and when they mentioned insulin that one time, they didn't explaine it right. They made it sound like any other medication, where you just take it once a day and you're fine, which it isn't.

This isn't supposed to be offensive to anyone with diabetes. It's supposed to show, that even though this happened to Oliver, he's not going to let it beat him. He's still him, and nothing's going to change that.

And actually, my teacher had diabetes, she was diagnosed at around 11 and the kind she had, she wasn't allowed to eat candy and her mom had to regulate how much sugar she ate a day.

There are different kinds of diabetes. Oliver probably has this kind.

Yea they didn't display it correctly or in a form that people would like, but I think they were focusing on the fact that Oliver wouldn't let it rule his life. Not on the actual disease itself.

But remember that Disney has a way of watering down serious subjects and belittling them just so they can have a big moral to the story.

Alright I do agree that it did make it seem a little less serious, but at the same time it's good for kids to see that he's not letting it rule his life. I know personally that diabetes DOES become a HUGE part of your life once you are diagnosed, but it DOESN'T have to change your life if you don't want it too. And it's a disney show, they arn't going to show the shots and stuff because it could freak little kids out. I am sorry though that it upset you.

no offense to the people that wrote this rap but it's not really correct. People with diabetes need to have sugar when their blood level gets to low. (my gymnastics teacher is diabetic). Insulin don't mesh makes more sense than sugar. Diabetes is different than being on a diet. It's not just a matter of not eating sugar.
