why is it always the car and drivers fault you fucking cyclist should be looking out also. and what the fuck with the share the road shit if you dont like the lanes find another route or take the bus
@bwaldy1 how is a cyclist supposed to know when someone is going to open a door from a parked car asshole? drivers are the ones opening their doors and hitting people without looking. how about some common sense, moron?
@bwaldy1 You're a dumb cunt. Bicyclists CANNOT PREDICT when your dumbasses are going to open your car doors. You don't want cyclists to ride in the middle of the road, but when shit like this happens you blame cyclists. It's hilarious that you say "what the fuck with the share the road shit." Fine, why don't you get off your lazy ass and find some other route that cyclists don't frequent? Why don't you take a bus so that you don't injure or kill someone else because of your selfishness?
@BMUK1000 But when city authorities are building these bike lanes, it gives cyclists a false sense of safety. In fact, a lot of police ticket cyclists for not cycling with cycle lanes, you cannot laugh at someones misfortune when there are factors other than their own judgement within the accident.
@BMUK1000 Your degraded personality and immature approach to emotion would suggest you are a motorist, I am a better person so I will choose to preserve. I just hope one day you get your priorities straight.
There will come a time over the next 30 years where the movement of combustion travel to pedal will increase dramatically because the harnessing of your fuel is simply and utterly unsustainable.
This happened to me today. I was doored and my new £65 jacket got ripped. Tore a hole in my suit trousers and tore some skin off my hand and got some other cuts as well. Fml. Drivers are faggots! Should of gotten the fuckers details and done an accident claim but noo, I'm too fucking nice.
Yes we need to acomidate for cyclists because they belong there and... No wait roads are for cars get a stationary bike lance I'm not gonna slow down just for you I have to get to dunkin doughnuts before breakfast ends
Could I use this clip in another video to explain, why we should not have bike lanes in the door zone, and why cyclists should not ride there or be required to and why motorists should not harras cyclists who dont ride in the door zone?
@IchDenkeAlsoBinIch Yeah I dont blame you. Often I dont as well. When you dont though you get harrased, and drivers drive dangerously around you. We should design safe cyclelanes not car door death lanes.
@Skyrimize It's actually illegal to ride a bike on the footpath unless you're a child in many countries. It's called the sideWALK or FOOTpath for a reason. The issue here is people opening doors without checking for traffic, they could just as easily hit a car that was on the edge of the lane.
This is why you need to leave enough room when passing to let the cyclist fall towards your vehicle. Imagine if you were a little further back, she would've been underneath your wheels. Helmet or not, that's a fatal incident waiting to happen. Please think.
@dciskey , you're right , I look on google street view and actually is a bike lane , which actually is not a lane is just sharing the cars lane , is not like a line to separate the bike lane from the car lane , and I see is so tight that actually the cars driving on the bike sign , is very risky for bikes to ride on that street .
the cab driver and the bicyclist were lucky , could be an worst scenario .
The cab drivers have to pay attention when passing cyclists , but I don't think is legal for the cyclists to ride on that street , is not enough room for cyclists and cars , and of course the stopped cars have to be careful when open the doors .
And of course is illegal to lie in court .
Bogdan made a good move and was focused on the street .
@Viorelpirat In Illinois every street is legal unless it's a limited access highway. And the Dispatcher's website mentions that the cyclist was in a bike lane.
I really hope that things change in court. While the cab driver *could* have given more room, what he was doing was legal. What that woman did was not, and it's very upsetting to see that the cabbie was charged and the woman didn't even get a stern talking to.
@GalacticCollision How was she doing anything wrong, other then perhaps to be riding too close to parked cars, a thing which motorists push cyclists to do because of their aggressive behaviour when you decide to ride further out in the lane.
@KrunchyJD I was really confused when I read your reply at first. I think you misunderstood what I was saying - by "her", i meant the woman who doored the cyclist.
@GalacticCollision Oh, ok, im sorry. I agree 100 percent with you then. The woman who opened the door should have been charged. I thought you weretalking about the cyclist, sorry.
Good thing the cabbie was alert and attentive, and took quick evasive action. However, this is why cyclists need plenty of room when being passed, especially near parked cars.
The person in the parked car should definitely be getting charged for opening the door in front of a cyclist. The cab driver's lane position when passing the cyclist could have been better (to allow more room to the cyclist) but despite that his quick reaction made this an inconvenience, rather than a tragedy.
It doesn't appear she was seriously injured. The cabdriver told me that she initially declined medical treatment and that she wanted to get to work but that she was persuaded to get checked out and that she walked to the ambulance. I have her address but decided to leave her alone. For us, this story was more about how the camera caught an incident that told a different story from what was apparently being said at the scene. We may learn more when the driver goes to court. Will keep you posted.
Dam cyclists always getting in the way.

it's the driver's fault because law states you must look in your mirror to make sure everything is clear before opening your door into traffic.
