One of the best cubs i've seen, flaps are kinda pointless though since it already takes off in a pinch, and landings are super slow and gradual stock...Ailerons should help in windy conditions when this thing is all over the sky :)
No actually, if your into scale then why not? I have just added flaps to my P-51 faomy, it dosnt need them sure but it sure looks good with them down on the final aproach...
I think the slower you can land the better, which is why i use flaps or flaperons on all my planes, anything that lowers the stall speed is got to be good... that is also a scale plane so using flaps gives more of a scale feel.
what a lot of people do is try a little paint on a non important part of the plane, or if you have extra parts/foam. just to see if it eats it. but yes, some spray paint will eat foam. i know that people use krylon but i cant remember which types, i know that some have used H20 and fusion.
to Pilotnerd101, I like a long handle (and long blade) Knife (the cheap kind) from the hardware store. The blade slides in and out of the end of the plastic handle. If you get lucky, you may find a 3-pack with 3 sizes.
@88gradywhite i was gonna start searching the web for info on what paint to paint styrofoam with, and well I guess you have answered my question without looking, thanxs!
dude... you need to give a tutorial on how to paint the SC...!!

Why would you put flaps on that plane it is slow as it is ?? it does not need flaps but that is what i think
siresoul2 2 years ago
Well putting all this on means he prolly put on a brushless motor and reduced the weight so then it will be faster..
blackcarreraGT 2 years ago
what kind of front wheels are those? and, do they fit in the cub without modifications?

love the paint scheme

do you have any flight video testing the flaps?
greedyg76 3 years ago
did you just use normal spray paint? because if i paint mine im afraid spraypaint will eat up the foam and ruin it.

what is the best way to make clean cuts in the foam. When i tried to make ailerons, it was a pretty hilarious disaster.

Are you talking about the plane that has the same power as a .40 gas one, but is electric?
monster271 3 years ago
yea
hatakekakashi1914 3 years ago
It's a fast flyer, but easy to control with 4 channels. If you can afford it, and afford to crash it once or twice, then have at it. :)
monster271 3 years ago
ok... but i think ill join a club.

Could you post a vid of the workings on your flap and aileron setup
w5kfg 4 years ago
uh do you fly it? apparently not since theres not a video of it...
satinsilverk20a2 4 years ago
the flaps would be excellent for getting caught in a headwind or from behind one, i like to take my slo-v and get caught in a breeze,
andrewbradford 4 years ago
supercub is addicting. they are soo relaxing to fly. i love slow flyers and this thing just takes the cake.
what are the flaps for? does it make it fly slower or what?
Duckyistrippin 4 years ago 3
How much slower does it get?
It's probably more of looks than use, but I don't know
Thumanator 4 years ago
outside loops probably

Great inspiration, I have all the bits on my desk to do the same conversion. Did you reduce the wing dihedral or keep it standard?

nice job on that
would you mind looking at mine

Rod, any chance we could see this beauty in action. You've done an awesome job!!!
I think you're ready for some brushless power!! :D
Lonelycosmos 4 years ago
looks sweet, lets see it fly and do some rolls. waiting for your next video.

Instead of spending all that cash on a trainer, why not move up to a brushless 4-chanel or 5-chanel??
tlawaltmustang 4 years ago
I take it you've never flown the Supercub! Its just such a mellow and wonderful plane. Easier is not always less.
