  • microsoft surface!

  • Should build the tools into the fingertips of gloves.

  • @crazymetalfingers cool idea

  • Der Vorreiter vom Reactable???

  • are you crazy people?

  • Make some damn music...

  • it uses a projector under it and using IR cameras it sees the logo's of the tools and fingertips.

  • inovative

  • Make the screen transparent and you got Tony Stark's PC. XD

  • I want to buy one!!!!!

  • "Limited by your own Imagination"

  • yeah i dont really see any real production value in this, kinda just looks like an expensive toy thats fun for acid

  • WOW...

  • very cool. taste of the future

  • Nice feat of engineering - however this is an atrociously inefficient and awkward means of HCI. A mouse and keyboard can do the same thing much more effectively, albeit less romantically.

  • @DavenH ever tried "hand" drawing with a mouse? or a signature? this technology can do a lot more than a keyboard & a mouse...

  • @AKAtheA

I have in fact designed software to do so. I can tell you that mouse drawing with nuance is all the smoothing algorithm.

But really I was referring to the bulk of the demonstration's drag and drop and wheel spinning, which is done more simply with a mouse.

  • where can i get one

  • 1:08 this beat gets awesome

  • where to buy this ?

  • @sultandamc theres 3 of them in the world.

  • That's looks fun, but you will need some serious knowledge on wavelenght if you want to draw other things than farting noises.

  • I'd love to edit using this. Beats Soundforge.

  • hmm, can't imagine it'd be my favourite DAW, but it looks cool to f... around with it :)

  • no estay en na chuchetumare..!!!

  • Its a really exciting thing to see music becoming more visual.

And it would be really cool if someday when youre making a song that at the same time your also creating visual art or vica verca.

  • itd be way better if it had some built in instument clips. not just lame beep noises

  • that is the coolest instrument ever were can i get one

  • Hi! This is amazing!! Mind asking which processing toolkit are you using??

  • star trek

  • Where the hell can i get one and how much its it?! I want one!

  • Hahaha, I can think of many ways to achieve the same sounding result and probably quicker but none of them are as beautiful as this.

  • HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!

    :O

    How do I get one?!!

  • Make this into a iPhone, iPad or surface app and you'd do very well with people who just want to knock out a tune with 5 minutes of training. Nice work!

  • awesome ware do i get one?

  • looks like your making stuff even more harder to do....

  • IM TRIPPING BALLS OVER HERE MAN

  • WoW this is way moar interesting to use. than the reactable. I know exactly how to discribe it: It's when you write a piano solo on pc and kinda wishing there was a real piano.. touchnig is everything) thumbs up

  • is that surface computing?

  • wow amazing

    talk about "feeling the beat"

great job keep it up :D

  • it'd be cooler if it gets more developed, like it can be used with software and stuff.

    but very cool stuff

  • haha this is insane..I love how he starts pretty tame, and then, all of a sudden, he starts piling all those cubes on there...

  • how much money???

  • Pretty amazing, although it has much more potential than what was shown in this video. I'm sure that anyone familiar with audio editing programs such as Pro Tools could get the hang of this thing fairly easily and do some fairly impressive editing. I like the tactile automation features. Wonderful design! Where can I buy one?

  • funny for half an hour.

  • Точно. Поиграешься и выбросишь. Хотя придумано классно.

  • Согласен. Музыканту такая визуализация ненужна, а обычный чайник поматросит и бросит.

  • that must be the most tedious way to make a song, it looks cool though

  • probably fun if you're tripping

  • alter...

  • brilliant. although, sometimes i look at this I wonder if its really necessary? will it improve our ability to create freely.

YEAH!! I think it will... :)

I suppose new technology is like that. this is rad though. way out of most peoples budgets.

  • wow! very coollll stuff

  • One of the coolest thing I've ever seen.

  • I saw something like this in a toy store about two years ago! I only wish I would have got it then, but I had not clue what I was looking at at the time!

  • Comment removed

  • i prefer the reactable an octotable but this is still cool

  • lemur is 1700 euros so....

  • I must have this!

  • YOU NEED something to "Smooth the Drawing of Sounds" cause when you draw.. your hand naturally shakes.. create a controller to smooth it out and when you turn it, control the Degree of "smoothing" Thank you! " :-p

    Awesome stuff!!!!!!

  • It's not a chess table =)

  • wow! nice!

  • how much do one of these cost?

  • BadAss!

  • That's awesome! Great work! I'd love to play around with one of these :)

  • WHERE I CAN FOUND THIS??

  • Wow! even though it's capabilities are still rather basic, this could actually revolutionize audio editing and manipulation. Goodbye mouse, hello wavetable

  • es la kopia del reactable???

    jeje..

    poes tambien se ve bien,,,

    saludos...

  • and its not i sounds its

    *it sounds

  • lol at 2:00 i sounds like my moms farting

and then sum1 s knocking at our door XDDD

lol im rofling so hard right now

    *beep ffaaaart knok knok knok*

  • yo kiero una asi!!!!

  • House 2020 !!! probably

  • cool....but it sounds like crap

  • >cool...but I'm still to small minded to appreciate experimental sound manipulation

    fix'd

  • i might be wrong but is it microsoft surface , or whatever it was

and some cool features like this is on it, or upgradeable stuff

  • craptastic

  • Incredibly cool. I can't see any practical use for this other than a science museum or a sort of teaching aid for kids. But I'm pretty simple minded in that thinking so far. But extremely cool interface.

  • omg this would make my life so much easier as well as alot of other musicians

  • Crazy tight

  • like it! saw something the other day that was quite similar called

    DOMINOTES

  • This is similar to reactable... no?

  • It looks more like art than anything. This is the next wave of technology that will be making it into our homes in the near future.

  • Hehe nice :) Although the effects is the coolest part, and most usefull. I dont see myself editing sample of a table.

  • all this time to make a simple click

  • OK, where do I get one for under $500? I want it!

  • Put a square here, another square there, oh, and another one here. Where the hell is the screen?

  • I want!

  • it's all based on the iphone touch display technology. (my guess)

  • you do realize "touch display technology" was around years before the iphone right?

  • lol

  • Of course!!! Have you heard about some things called "cash dispensers" ???

  • just wonder does the reactable team's name 'super collider' have some connections with jamie vogel...

  • Super Colider is a program

  • dude is any wave editors like this one that can make new waves?Like in this demo,he just made the wave.

  • sexy

  • Mind boggling etc etc

  • That things amaing

  • hmm, for me, mouse is still better, this is a nice toy, but nothing more...

  • i want one too ;)

  • the 2nd comment is for vanmagumury

  • really nice one. Btw The MOTHERF*CKERS POSTED BEFORE they will never have this one so.. just blablabla.talking.SO STUPID PPL.NONE KIND OF music is ugly or bad, ffs. Stupid simpleminded ppl.

  • wack ass beat.. but dope program or what ever the fuck that is.. what ever it is i wish i had one. it would make things so damn easy

  • gamw tin mana sou malaka

  • Bumbaclod, just because this user was only doing a demo, doesn't mean it's a bad product. If you can record loops, i bet you can import just about any midi instrument into it. Looks like a fully functional DAW.

  • and then of course the brainwave responsive version............AAAAAHHHHHHHH

  • elegant interface...ugly sound....someday will be great......the shape of things to come

  • impressing - just the result sounds shiddy. but probably an interseting livetool one day

  • Where can this be bought?

I want to sell it in Japan.

  • really intelligent man

  • nasty!!!

  • realy cool wave table! but the "music" you made....

  • o.O nice!

  • that thing is awesome, is it for sale?

  • Wow... I want one... along with the beat bearing...

  • WOW, i can imagine this used in an operating system in the near future

  • omg ^^ i want one hehe where do u get it from or did u made it

    plss tell me

  • Where do I get 1?

  • complicated xD

  • SICK AS

  • Great gimmick...nice work.... it's like a fancy way of doing what you can already do... which iiis kinda pointless....however, the rich and famous do spend money for no reaons on things that just do what recording software does....but 'look nicer' while doing it..

it's the opposite of an affordable musical instrument.

still looks fantastic though, as with most of these novelty devices.... so much attention on what it looks like..

..has resulted in aesthetically boring 'sounding' music.

  • There must be a use for such things one day. ;)

  • this is the same "instrument" :S that uses Björk in one of his presentations?

  • His???

  • this is AMAZING.... but what is the point? what is the applicatioin?

I am an audio engineer, and, everything I see here I can do in ProTools or a bunch of other industry standard programs.

I am not insulting anyone - i think this is awesome. I just dont know the application.

  • @oneak:

Well, first of all, think of all the numerous live-composing/performing possibilities (JazzMutant Lemur anyone?).

Second, I think that manipulating something directly with your hands is more intuitive that doing so with let's say via a peripheral device like a mouse or a keyboard.

And of course, let's not forget that this is an example, a mere prototype interface. Just give it a year or two, and then... ;)

  • LIFT OFFFFF!!!

I'm also pre-wetting my panties for the Wii-mote audio editing applications. YUMMEH!

    Tha fjutja iz heah!

  • WOW!!!

This thing is great!!! the wii is gonna have something like this too???

    suteki desune =p

  • @mushiotoko:

    Thanks :P

Check out the channel from jcl5m. You'd be amazed of what he does with a simple Wii-mote.

I think that great audio apps will soon emerge from that technology.

  • omg this is a fucking mazing. wow how does one do that or make one of these.

  • Can't you draw a sine wave for crying out loud!

  • I'd love to have one table!

  • Right - don't think anyone will want to dance or listen to what you've done there...

  • thats not the point, hawking

  • Go on, tell us what the point is. Bzzt bzzzt bbbbbzzzzt bzztbztztzbzt - is that it?

If the point is to listen to a bunch of unconvincing edits to a monotonous drum loop, and some slower than snail hand-drawn buzzes, I'll start getting concerned as to whether people actually LISTEN to music or are just deaf and blindly fascinated by technology.

Good gadget? Yes, but slow and complicated.

    Good music coming out? NO.

  • the video is a technical demonstration, dumbass. do you honestly think that this guy is going to whip out a masterpiece in 4:42?

Seriously dude, whats the hang up? It's like going to a funeral and complaining about the weather. If you so desperately want to dance, go put on highschool musical or something.

  • lmaines, I don't need to justify my opinions to you. I've never engaged myself in a shallow argument on YouTube and not gonna waste my time arguing with you now. If dumbass is all you can say, I may as well call you a pathetic chickenshit with no proper judgement or capacity to evaluate others' opinions. What the fuck is this all about funerals and high school musicals, loser? Just laughable.

  • It seems to me you don't understand the point of this demo, and are complaining about the "music". Here's a better analogy. You go to an appliance store and rather than noticing what a DVR can do, start complaining about a lame bad show on the Comedy channel. It's just not funny, you say.

  • You got me wrong: I completely understand what both you and lmaines are saying, and to some extent I agree. However, I simply don't wish to befriend the notion of 'lame demo/cool toy', because it's just uninspiring and daft. Since this gadget is made FOR sonic manipulations and music making, I'd expect something that can make me go wow First in terms of sound/music, then in other aspects (i.e., just like Autechre's music and Max/MSP patches). Sorry, that's just my logic...

  • Speaking of this, Bjork's use of Reactable is much more convincing. I just want to see some 'real music' examples, you know what I'm saying? And yes, I guess I was far too judgemental when I started this post, but partly because Bill Hicks' voice saying 'PLAY FROM YOUR F*CKING HEART' keeps resounding in my head :D

  • Cool. My mistake. Maybe your comments would be welcome by the developers if they understood your intent was to make people more immediately aware of the potentials of their device. thanks for responding.
