The purpose is to make people want to buy the episodes again. The main object was to remove dated looking effects and replace anolog equipment with digital displays that will hold up better over time.

I don't think they touched that effect...looks the same as the original. They should have improved it.

The planet looks like plastic.. :-( In 15 years they will say it look unreal for usual standart and will propose to remake the effects once again.
