  • Great little pack, one comment... A bear can smell that little bag of food in the zip lock bag up to a mile away, 3/4 of a mile for Wolf and coyote... All kinds of critters can smell that bag... Don't know what kinda critters you have in your area, just food for thought.

  • @brenterwin99611 You are right, they have incredible sense of smell. The areas I go into have Black Bear and Coyote that are up to 80% Canadian wolf according to genetic tests (most people don't know about the hybridization). I've been overpacking in water proof plastic containers lately but, I would still recommend hanging between trees and away from camp for over night.

  • great video and great pack... its just right not too much. just right gears. very insightful

  • ahaa ,Your pack skill is amazing!

  • Wow that is one prepared bag, I like the way you separated some of the items with the color coded bags. You my friend are definitely prepared for a Zombie Apocalypse.

  • I know I'm a little late on commenting on this video, but I just had to say how impressed I am at the amount of gear you can put in it! I personally use the U.S. Army 'assualt pack'. I thought I stuffed it full and I'm a minimalist , after seeing this vid man, you can get alot of gear in that little pack, awesome!

  • @ArmyStinger150 It's surprising what can fit in a pack. I'm with you on the minimalist thing. I prefer to carry the bare essentials but, I carry a wide variety of gear depending on what I set out to do. I also like the idea of being practiced in carring what I can just in case the situation comes up.

  • where do you put your glock? rather, where do i put mine?

  • @rekkerya There are some things that people find out when it is already too late. Wise men say enough but never too much.

  • Haha! That's great underwear actually, where can I get a pair?

  • Very nice vid dude.

  • I'd recommend a better compass. Those are ok for "general" direction but are not adequate for shooting a heading for navigation or adjusting for declination. I'd add a laplander folding saw and whistle as well. Other than that...looks like a pretty good kit.

  • @14DFASniper Yes, that is one cheap compass I have I have a better one but, could still use an upgrade. I keep a whistle in the first aid kit and often carry a folding saw in my cargo pants pocket. I prefer to be a minimalist with gear but this past year I took a lot of gear on trips to see what I would use and not use. This year I plan to move back to minimal gear and give myself some new challenges with minimal gear.

  • This is a really great video! The bag I use is an old German Mountain pack which is inexpensive and can withstand dogs abuse, it has a single divider in the main pocket but I still use dry sacks to group everything its way easier that way, I also agree about a backup blade because well... you just never know when you might need it!

  • @SuperCat I like to see different packs other than the most commonly used out there. An old German mountain pack sounds interesting.

  • @softairguy65 yea, leaves can give you a dipped finger if you know what I mean. LOL . . . Not that it happens to me but, I picked some up today, good suggestion.

  • Keep on the good work. Don't forget toillet paper and baby wipes if you hike more long time!

  • @Takuan66 Good suggestion, I picked some up today. I can afford to take a step up from leaves. LOL

  • Nice backpack you got there. I wonder where did you buy it?

    thank you for sharing.

  • That's a lot of gear in a compact bag. Nice setup. I use a foldable small shovel I found at walmart for $3. It's comparable to the U-dig it trowel shovel at a fraction of the cost. I move coals out of the fire for cooking and you can't beat a steel shovel. I need to get a mosquito head net. I know I use to much deet...5*

  • @zoolanderfred Thanks, Good tip on using the steel trowel for moving coals to cook with. I didn't even think about using it that way.

  • Wow Kamo that was an awsome kit i like the contents and the fact that it is full of possibilities and could allow one to survive for a long time with it. I also like the fact you carry an extra knive and extra water and lighters because i also carry several of the same items. Call me paranoid but i sometimes carry 2 or 3 different knives and ways to make fire. Great vid and explanation of a well thought out pack.

  • great lightweight little setup

  • great lightweight little setup

  • "Animal" ROCKS! LOL

  • i have alot to add to mine and thanks for the vid showing what u carry :D

  • When only a small pack is necessary I prefer a buttpack because it makes the weight feel a lot lighter, and the heat isn't trapped between your back and the pack. Another good video.

  • Nice kit and you gotta love that weight, 15 pounds is nothing!

  • I like how you used the pocket from an old pair of cargo pants to store your cook kit in. I have that same exact MSR cooking pot and I think it's great too. Do a google search for "sunscreen causes cancer" & "DEET causes neurological damage" Research some natural alternatives to both of those. Two examples are tinder fungus for the bugs and charcoal for the sun.

  • @Prepare2Survive Yea, I try to avoid chemicals but, I have a few that I still cling to. I tried the Lemon Eucalyptus oil and still got that tick stuck in me but, I have a few more options to try. Thanks for the tips.

  • I always enjoy your videos Ghostkamo. Looks like a nice setup.

  • Great stuff Brother...My favorite pack is a cheap remington pack I got at walmart for 9 bucks...about the same size as that one. its perfect for even a 3 day trip. and I have alice packs, patrol packs, and such...that one just seems to feel better to me. only think I would change is the animal undies...im more of a homer simpson kinda guy...lol

  • @MrCableguyken I agree, one of my other packs is a walmart special and I really like the size and set-up. LOL, Homer. He likes the best things in life, Food, Beer and Naps.

  • Hi Kamo, I am impressed about the size of your heavy duty poncho, my light nylon poncho (new NATO model) packs not nearly as small. Not to mention the old heavy rubberized army ponchos! can you tell me the brand so I can find it in the internet? Do you show it in use in any of your other vids ( I cant remember)?

    thx for the vid

  • awesome video, thanks for uploadin it.

cant wait for your philisophy videos

  • Good set up my friend glad to see your kit

  • I cut out old cargo pockets and use as pouches too..

the bug net could also catch small fish ..

  • that was a very extensive, well thought out system that came out of such a little bag, thanks for showing us..love that stainless pot you have!

  • Hello my friend :)

  • Wow I'm quite impressed with everything you carry, great video Kamo

  • Great review my friend, any pack that works is a good pack, You don't really need to pay a fortune to get a good pack!

That is a very good setup, extra materials just in case something happens. but I heard on several accounts that those wire saws break very easily, is that true?

    Cheers

  • @AlbertaFisherMedia Great question about the saw. I can tell you for sure that the saw is strong and will work if used properly. The saw will bind and possibly break if folded over a limb in a U shape. It will cut well and last if it used properly by keeping the wire ends spread out like on a bow saw. The saw ends must be spread far apart. I should probably do a demo.

    Thanks for the input.
