good job, that was very helpful, but the chord on the second "please" is Am7(2nd string first fret, 4th string second fret), not A7. listen to the original song and try it, you'll hear how it grooves. take care

Indeed it is, the slide highlights the note of C. Can't say I've really bothered to listen to this song in upmost detail.

No, it wouldn't technically work as G7 isn't in the key of D where as A or A7 (the dominant, or 5 chord) is in the key.

A follow up on this, it would work and it sounds like it is. In this it's making the G function as a 1-5 progression. Or you could look it as a IV-I cadence. Gotta love music theory.
